Good season for the wasps...hope Andersons injury isnt too bad. Hes a good ball player.

Why is it fair for a private school that can recruit gets to play a team like Wasatch that does not have the same options. Let all the private schools play each other.
congrats wasatch | 1:51 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
You can atleast claim 2nd or 3rd in the public schools division of 3A.

fan | 2:04 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
too bad about anderson.
juan diego will have no trouble recruiting someone 6-4 200 pounds that runs a 4.2 40 before next weeks championship game though.maybe some one from florida, california, hawaii, africa?

Sad News | 2:20 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Keegan Anderson broke his leg and is our for championship game.
Boss Hogg | 2:28 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Wasatch fan, did you complain about private schools a month ago when you beat up on Judge? Didn't think so. If they would have made a few plays they could have beat JD and then what would be said?

That was a great game! I love high school football playoffs.
another fan | 2:35 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
JD played a great game and so did Wasatch. The game was closer than the score showed, Wasatch was right in there till the 4th quarter. Hats off to both teams. Best of luck to JD next week!
re: fan | 2:36 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Bush comment... just bush. I am a Wasatch fan... it is too bad about Anderson!

Great Season Wasatch. A fine performance for a public school!
Re: Boss Hogg | 2:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I am sure they did complain. Why? Becasue the point is the same whether they recruited well this year or had an off year. The real point is... should they be complaining at all, it is what it is. The nature of private schools... if you build a good program, you can beat them. Look what JD did in 2A, only two championships and one if not both of those were when they had 3A enrollment but awaiting re-classification. Fact is, if Wasatch tackled better and made one more first down the last possession of the 3rd quarter, this game could have come down to the wire!
Good Game JD | 2:43 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Let's go Park City... represent region 10 well!!!
UtahSig | 3:08 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
To why and fan...that's ironic - "Y Fan". Sounds to me like you are a couple of sore losers. Wasatch has plenty of talent and has played well this season. Juan Diego simply shut-down the two big playmakers - the Davis kids. Nice win Juan Diego. I'm looking forward to a great game next week vs. Park City or Hurricane.
Judge | 3:20 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
The private school whining is typical. Ask Cottonwood about their baseball team and how many of the kids (10) out of 11 are from other areas. It is called open enrollment. Kids at Private Catholic schools matriculate from - private catholic schools. Where they get a Catholic Education and pay it.
JD fan | 3:31 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
its really sad to hear about keegan. he is such a good player and a huge asset to the team. im hoping that JD can still pull out that state championship game! GO JD Soaring Eagle!
RE:Judge | 3:36 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Not all athletes are Catholic. They get a free education. I know of 10 athletes in the last 5 years that went to Judge that were LDS. Don't write what you do not know.
Wasp Alum | 3:36 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Stop complaining about the private school thing Wasatch folks, please. Juan Diego was clearly the better team and manhandled us on the line. And to be honest, after watching the Park City debacle a few weeks ago, what could we hope to do against the winner of the two PUBLIC schools tomorrow anyway?

Be happy, give congrats to the opponent, thank the coaches and players, and move on. It was a great season and one we should be proud of. Being a semifinal team is a great accomplishment.
Re: Judge | 3:37 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
At least be honest and tell it like it is. I agree, there is no place for the whining. However, it is all schools=open enrollment, private schools=open enrollment+tuition assistance. Again, it is what it is and tuition assistance is probably not a huge factor but it does make a difference.
Wasp Alum | 3:44 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Oh yeah, that is horrible news about the Anderson kid, wow. Hard on a sentimental note for the player and tactically for the team. I think Juan Diego's good enough up front to run against 9 man fronts anyway, but this is a tough loss.
Old JD Fan | 3:45 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Both teams played well and it was terrific being at the stadium and watching high school football. What JD has and other teams lack is team speed. Not only are JD's skill postion players fast, their line men are fast, with great feet, on both sides of the ball. A very good team like Wasatch can hold up to the speed for a couple of qts however, after awhile it will ware you out. Wasatch, once your linemen come up to speed, you will win a state title.
Soaring Eagle | 3:49 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
JD played a good game, it's too bad that Andersen got hurt, he's a great player. With Sutera (#21) leading the defense it's going to be hard to beat them in the Championship.

GO JD!
any time | 4:11 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
wasp way to play you guys. playd a good game .i did not know if you guys deservre to be in the semi..now i know you do belong keep your head up great game and great season.
Dynasty | 4:17 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Wasatch played great football, but Juan Diego played it better. Wasatch definitely has the best turn around season this year. Good luck next week against Hurricane or Park City JD.
Watch Out JD | 4:20 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Park City is coming next week and they will have revenge on their minds. This is their year and Andersen's injury won't help. That is right, I am already assuming they are going to win tomorrow.
Watch out park city | 4:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
You better not start talking now before the game even starts tommorow and if you didn't realize hurricane is tough. They got a way harder wake up call then park city.
Wasatch Fan | 4:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I don't have a problem playing private schools...and I think most Wasatch fans would agree with me. There may be a select few who have complained but the majority are level headed about it.

I thought that the Wasps played pretty good but JD was just a step ahead. I agree that the game was a little closer than the final made it seem. All around it was a good state playoff game and it was fun to attend. Best of luck to JD and the other 3A teams competing tomorrow. May the best team win!
gowasps | 5:06 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Juan Diego played a great game. It really came down to Juan Diego wearing Wasatch out in the fourth qtr.
Having basically two sets of linemen and not having them have to go both ways makes a huge difference. I feel horrible about the Andersen kid, hope he makes a quick recovery and has a great career at USU. Great Season for Wasatch and good luck next year. Looking forward to a great Basketball season in both boys and girls and of course a great wrestling season. Go Wasps!!!
JM Alum | 5:09 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Having met a few dozen Wasatch fans over the past few years, I seriously doubt it's Wasatch fans whining about private schools, recruiting, etc... Wasp fans have always been among the classiest and most supportive of any I've ever met. They've had a very successful year in football and I'd guess they'll do at least as well in the upcoming basketball season. Congratulation Wasatch. And congrats to Juan Diego as well.
Judge | 5:12 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Judge has changed policies specific to assisting kids. Most of the kids in The Ute Conference (who are very good) end up playing at East or Highland. JD has a different draw. JD is well coached and execute well. Do not diminish their success with the annual private school dissertation.
To JM Alum | 5:27 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I agree bro I think its just haters from other schools, those fans were very classy today, great game both teams. Wasatch you got a hell of a QB.

Keegan Anderson in prayers, worst news ive heard in a while

Wasatch's Defense played pretty well today and they aren't what I would call a good D, on the other hand the Offense was horrible with a great JD defense, had the offense stepped it up I think Wasatch could of won this game I mean they didn't even come close to scoring in the 2nd half thats pretty sad!
Follower | 7:29 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Props to Juan Diego Defense stopping Wasatch. Wasatch is good offensively, but stopped by a great D line.

For those of us that weren't at the game , what happened with the Anderson kid?
Re: Concerning Anderson | 11:05 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Broke his leg. They hauled him off on a stretcher.
JD Alum | 8:58 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
As an alumni of JD I'd like to say congrats to Wasatch on the great season they had making it to the semis and good luck next year. Congrats to JD for advancing to the state championship game for the 2nd straight year and good luck next week.

I also wish the best to Keegan Anderson and wish him a speedy recovery.

Juan Diego's Keegan Anderson (22), right, gets fingers on a long touchdown pass as he is guarded by Wasatch's Cory Nielson (81) at Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City Thursday. Anderson made the reception to put the first points on the board in the 3A state semifinal.
