I don't care what anyone says, Bingham hasn't faced a decent team outside of Jordan since they played Trinity in early Sept. It will take a few series for them to adjust to a team who is equally talented and if Alta can jump on them early I think Alta will win the game. Other than the competition they've faced, these teams are about as even as you can get. Alta 31 Bingham 27
Great game | 11:31 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Cannot wait for this game, Bingham will bring it, Alta will bring it. Hopefully Bingham can dominate and win a second championship!!!! GO MINERS!!!!!!
Prediction | 12:02 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
As good as both teams are, I think someone will win my multiple scores.

That might seem strange with the recent games being so close but this could have happened easily last year too. I think both teams pull out all the tricks to win. One of these times will make a mistake and its going to backfire. The teams that's ahead will capitalize.

I won't predict which team will win but I think the winner will win be 10 points or more.

I agree.......will be a great game as both these teams know how to bring it....THIS IS THE 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.....MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN....

GO HAWKS!!
Re plyxply | 12:32 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Do you not remember that Bingham played Alta this year? who jumped on them early and still beat them, by DOMINATING THE SECOND HALF! You have to play all 4 quarters, which is Bingham's M.O. this year. And how good were Alta's opponents really? PG proved to be overrated, Brighton maybe, Lone Peak good, but none of them left standing either right? So, I don't care what you say, I have watched Bingham all year and they are as good as advertised, How come Jordan couldn't beat them? Bingham still had the same schedule before they played their vaunted pass game, and if I remember correctly, they put up 62 on them, So I think they will be fine. This will be another black and blue classic! Go Bingham!!!!!
Bingham 38 Alta 24.
Coaching | 1:14 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Comes down to coaching and Les is just better. Alta by 11
re plyxply | 1:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Lets also remember what the average margin of victory has been for Bingham at about 24 points. Alta at about 19 points per game. The defenses are about the same, but offensively Bingham has scored a lot more points then Alta.

GO MINERS!!!
Les | 1:44 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
How about those adjustments in the firs game? Ya les is better!!! that is funny!
re coaching | 1:45 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Les wasn't better the first game was he?
That is funny! | 1:46 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
No one outside of alta fans think les is better, all the programs that call peck and offer him a job dont think so. Les applies for jobs all ver the country and cant get one. what does that tell you?
Observation | 2:06 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Where is Parry's Power Poll this week????
Bingham Adjustments | 2:40 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Coach Peck needs to make his adjustments early. He waited until the second half when they played Alta in August. It was almost too much to overcome. He needs to make the adjustments in the first quarter this time if there needs to be any. Offensively and Defensively.

Bingham 35
Alta 21
Neutral Bystander | 2:43 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I have seen several games between Alta and Bingham. I'm a neutral fan, I love seeing the intensity that these teams bring to the table. I hope that both teams play their best and the refs don't favor one team over another. I think it will come down to coaching and they both better be ready for surprises (may be like an onside kick right after half). This is definitely the game to watch!! Alta 28 - Bingham not enough!!
Out Coached? | 2:43 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
The past two season Hamilton has out coached Peck and all other coaches in 5a (TWO RINGS) I've seen Bingham really lay an egg the past two seasons. You think that is funny then lets see Pecks rings from the last two seasons. (OH that right he doesn't have one)

Hamilton is by far the better coach
reOut Coached? | 3:09 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Well if you are going to narrow it down to just 2 seasons, but I will give you the head to head:
Coach Peck 5
Coach Hamilton 3
That's funny, so who is the better coach? Not who is the better coach during this quarter or that day or that half. But if you want to use your standard. At the present time, Peck is the better coach based on a dominating come from behind victory earlier this year. And I don't know why Alta fans keep forgetting that Bingham was dominating Alta last year until ONE play. Peck was out coaching him all over the field last year until a kid makes a bad mistake. Peck better by far, two rings or not.
plyxply | 3:21 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
both of the head coaches are outstanding, easily the top five in the state and each game is different. There are times Peck has outcoached Hamilton and vice versa so while coaching is extremely important, the margin of difference between the coaches isn't going to make the difference. It will come down to execution as it always does.
Re: margin of victory. Really? If you're going to say that then how to you explain your weak schedule holding your offense down, you should've beaten them all by 50 or more. Margin of victory is irrelevant.
yes Alta had a lead in the first game, and my prediction is based on my belief that they've matured as a team and as players now to where they'll be able to hold a lead and finish the game strong. They've had to win games against quality teams all year in region play and I think that will help tomorrow.
To Plyxply | 3:55 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
To answer your question about margin of victory. Very easy. All those games would have been 60 - 0 victories. But coach Peck is a class act and pulled his V players at half or in the 3rd quarter and started putting JV and Sophomores in to get experience. That is when the other teams scored their 7 points and the O slowed down.

I agree with you that the team that gets the lead will hold it to win this year. I don't see Bingham spotting Alta 28 points this time. Three TD's without adjustments and then a pick for six for Alta. I think Alta will need to work much harder for points this time because Bingham has grown stronger over the season.

Regarding margin of victory. It does matter in the sense that it is the only thing to gauge teams by that have not played each other. The BCS does it for rankings... good or bad that is all you really have to compare without actually playing.
Bingham Player Dad | 4:52 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Wow guys....So much about the coaches. Both guys are making a very modest income from being a HS coach and when you look at the time put it, I bet it's close to minimum wage. My son plays for Coach Peck and he has learned some much about football and life that I could not put a dollar amount on it. I really think if your going to put smack on guys that are almost doing charitable work, you should list your "real" name. You may also want to list what it is you do so well and willing to do for minimum wage. If we were talking about someone making hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for this...I could understand but beating up a HS coach that works his tail off is just plain old weak.
Post your Name | 5:14 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Well said about the coaches. They do our boys a great service and I wish I could up there salary. But if you want to get people to put their names on here you should start by putting yours on your post. Just as a not. If you had people put their names you would not get anything on these blogs and all you would hear is crickets. The anonymity is good - it lets true feelings and observations come out. Anyway, agree coaches are important roll models for the boys.
Bingham Fan | 5:16 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Hate to admit it, but Coach Peck has been out coached the past two playoff meetings between these two teams. Bingham just can't seem to beat Alta when it matters. And the year they did win it, the almost coughed that one up to. (21-19?). I'd love to see the miners win, but history tells me this one goes to Hawks again. I hope I'm wrong. Until some one knocks them off, their the champs.
re plyxply | 5:56 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
About that margin of victory, you got to remember that Bingham gains that lead and then lets the backups get some playing time so their not going to score as many points with the backups as they do with the starters. Oh yeah, did you forget that Bingham played Viewmont, Cottonwood, Syracuse, Jordan, and of course Alta, these teams were all in the playoffs, so explain that one.
My son plays for Alta | 6:40 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
My money is on our coaches. Let's go boys, show Bingham what you have.
Re: Post my name | 7:38 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
With the comments I made about coaches, I did not want to come off as a suck up and start that thread of ridiculous discussion. My son has started vitually every game over the past two years so there is basically no need to do it. However, I do post my name on all posts regarding Bingham sports where is would not be considered as a suck up position. Look at several other Bingham comments sections and my name will be there.

PS....I'd rather hear crickets than the weak ill founded comments from no name fools. Like....my money is on our coaches. Really....and where did you place that bet and how much money is it. Dumb comment from a weak fool.
Jordan Fan | 8:02 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
These comments are pretty ruthless about 2 outstanding coaches. They all coach for fun and to change lives. They sure don't do it for money. This game I'm sure will be one for the ages. Good luck to both teams, it is way to close to call who the winner will be. I can't wait to see what happens.
Re: to all | 8:24 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
it doesn't matter who the coaches are, or their strategy. doesn't matter which team has what all star player. doesn't matter how tough the teams were they played. when it comes down to it, there's one thing both of these teams dont have that will end up costing them a ring... that's TANNER HINDS. congrats to the winner of this game, they'll get a guaranteed 2nd place
re: Re: to all | 9:12 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I really had to laugh when I read your comment. Hinds is good, but honestly neither Davis or Hunter has that much of a chance. Just like Layton in 2007, the winner of the Hunter/Davis game will get to play the consolation game after Alta beats Bingham in the semis.
SAY WHAT YOU  | 11:51 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
WILL ABOUT THESE COACHES, BUT GIVE THEM CREDIT....THEY DO IT RIGHT EVERY YEAR! I AM PROUD TO LIVE IN UTAH AND HAVE THESE FINE PROGRAMS REPRESENT US.....BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS ...IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS....THIS IS THE BIGGEST GAME OF 2009....THIS IS THE UTAH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 5A FOOTBALL....DON'T MISS THIS ONE OR YOU SEASON WILL MEAN NOTHING...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL COACHES AND PLAYERS FROM ALTA/BINGHAM!! MAKE US PROUD!

"GOOD LUCK TO ALL COACHES AND PLAYERS FROM ALTA/BINGHAM!! MAKE US PROUD"
I heartily agree with your sentiment but it doesn't go far enough. You're forgetting the team managers and other support personnel who make it possible for the coaches and players to focus on the game. I know Bingham has five managers this year and I can't forget Statman. They all do great work for the Bingham football program. I don't know how many managers Alta has working for them but kudos to them as well. There's a lot more going on than most fans realize. But it's because these people do their jobs so seamlessly that you can enjoy the games with minimal interruption.
GOOD LUCK MINERS!

The Players | 10:28 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I agree with the coaching comments(not the negative ones) But I think we need to give the most kudos to the 22 players that will be on the field, who are going to be putting their blood, sweat and tears into this game, they are the ones that will ultimately win this game for their school, we the fans can suppose this and that and rip the coaches but in the end, it's these kids that we will be watching put in all on the turf. Good Luck to all the players.

How much extra money do these coaches get from the Booster Club? Hardly say it's minimum wage???

I have enjoyed the exchange of view points, football banter, analysis, opinions, and commentary on this blog. Good luck to both teams and remember today you are Rivals and can enjoy the competition. But tomorrow you maybe playing for BYU or UTAH or whomever as team mates. So do your best, have respect, and breath it all in today. Go get'em Miners.

how everyone just plays off hunter/davis and really thinks they dont stand a chance it is setting them up to prove you wrong and win state because they will mark my words hunter knows alta and bingam and can dominate their line and davis has a great line along with a little guy named TANNER HINDS

The anonymous nature of posting on this board is wonderful for those who want to claim to be someone they aren't. Case in point.
"region 4 | 1:44 a.m. Nov. 15, 2009
being a player in region 3 i know who the best is it is region 4. they have the most good teams its as simple as that. did they have the best team? no bingham is the best team but yes region 4 is the best region".
Fans of Region 4 schools proclaiming it the "best region" are amusing. Region 1 fans did so last year. Parity within a region doesn't make it better. "Region 4 tops" uses only regular season games to "prove" this. "Re: Region 4 tops" counters with the playoff records to disprove it. Many comments along these lines, “They've (Alta) had to win games against quality teams all year in region play and I think that will help tomorrow" appeared before Friday’s Bingham/Alta game. Team preparation matters more than who they play. That Bingham and Davis will play for the 5 A Championship supports this. They won "when it mattered" while the "super region" teams didn't.

"i love it | 1:08 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009"
When a team relies on one player as much as Davis does Tanner Hinds, it's no wonder he puts up such impressive numbers. Alex Hart did the same for Jordan, passing for more than 4,000 yards this season. Bingham doesn't have a player with numbers quite so impressive for two reasons. They have a more balanced run/pass ratio and they have several big playmakers. We'll see how well that "great line" does against Bingham's front three in five days.
