after $787 billion we need more than a "hopeful sign" Hope and Change = Hype and Spend

American labor can no longer compete in the traditional industrialized world as laborers from Third World countries and other modernizing nations have taken over assembling and production jobs such as auto manufacturing and computer assembly. Today American needs to focus on America's superior diversity and freedom of thought and creative power, along with its potential for educational excellence. The information technology and academic intelligence are some of the employment areas that the United States can excell at and export to other Countries. As the world changes, so does the American workforce and in today's world, higher education is the key and perhaps should become a national basis right if America is to be able to maintain its place in the world.

Hmmm... so now he starts to actually take action against unemployment. Remember him saying the stimulus would create all these jobs, once again the government plan has failed from what they "predicted." Now we are calling for the government to help with health care? wake up America!

Since when is it the federal government's responsibility to develop a job strategy? These are the very people who caused the losses in the first place! But isn't this typical government? First, create a crisis, then pretend you can solve it by doing more of the same. Welcome to the United States of Wonderland.

@Tab: there's only one reason we can't compete with other manufacturers throughout the world: an unstable dollar. We have inflated ourselves out of non-service jobs. If we'll allow the economic bubbles to pop instead of trying to reinflate them, prices and wages will come down to realistic and competitive levels.

Obama announced a job forum -- for India, and China "before taking off for a trip to Asia". Next he will travel to Europe to discuss how much of our U.S. stimulus dollars are going overseas to help Government Motors for Opel (in Germany).

10 Months into his Presidency and the entire treasury of the United States wasted at a rate 5 times in one year what Bush wasted in 8 years, and the President finally is grasping for a plan. Well Mr. President instead of wasting it on a conference to talk about creating jobs try this plan:

1. Cut taxes(all areas) to spur industrial, commercial, agricultural, development and small business spending!

2. Eliminate all deficit spending! Yearly and carried out!

3. Eliminate all unnecessary regulation that inhibits the development of energy. Especially dealing with Nuclear, Oil, Natural Gas and Coal. This would create hundreds of thousands of jobs here and cut 700 billion dollars being spent to buy foreign energy, with many of those dollars funding terrorists and countries hostile to us!

4. Increase the size of the military to withstand the ever increasing threats from China, Russia, N.Korea, Iran and the rest that hate us or freedom!

5. Cut corporate taxes to bring two trillion dollars back into the U.S.

6. Eliminate entire departments in the federal government that can be taken care of by existing state agencies such as Education, Environment, Health. cont:

Cont:

7. Get federal regulation and a over burdensome IRS out of small business and quit penalizing business with rules and regulations that limit the worlds greatest job engine from producing!

8. Get rid of the pork that you talk about but have just added to by the hundreds of billions of dollars!

9. Stand against politicians still in office who helped create directly the housing crisis! Mr Frank and Mr. Dodd to start! Just because they are democrats does not mean they are valued assets to this nation!

10. Clean house in the Treasury, regulatory branches and others in your administration who worked for any company that received federal tarp bailout money! This includes everyone from Goldman Sach.

11. Reestablish faith in the United States and the government by immediately firing all individuals in your administration who do not support capitalism or who have an allegience to socialism, marxism, communism or any type of regime!

12. Cut all foreign aid to all nations and the U.N until all is reevaluated!

13. Immediately secure the borders(all of them) to slow domestic spending on illegals while leaving our veterans and seniors without! They vote and fought for you!

Good grief, can things get any goofier with Obama? This moron stands up and brags about 1 million jobs created or saved (what ever that means) with his stimulus but offers no source of those ridiculous claims. What a joke. Three million jobs have been lost since Obama came into office - not 1 million gained. Good grief look at the umemployment numbers - 10.2 % nation wide and it was 6% when Obama came in. Do the math.
Thank you Obama. | 4:26 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
While conservatives whine, you are trying to help American's. What a wonderful change. We could have had McCain.

Don, business is demand driven. Many businesses today have cash. Why don't they spend? No demand. You can't get consumers to spend money they don't have.

It was Nixon signed the EPA into law and Bush created Homeland security that was completely redundant.

The military already consumes 52% of our budget.

You need to study economics and stop believing stories from people who are actively working to ruin your economy. They did a great job under Bush. Why believe those who have never been right.
re:Thank you Obama | 4:45 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Not sure where you learned economics. Probably the same place Obama's economic exaggerates ... I mean advisers. Let's look at the facts for just a moment here ....

1. Unemployment was 6% when Bush left office and it is 10.2 % now. Yes that represents a HUGE job loss - the worst since 1983.
2. The reason business isn't hiring is because of the NEW TAXES that Obama has promised for them with his new Obama-care fiasco. Add to that the fact that the Bush TAX CUTS for business are about to expire and Obama will add over 15% new taxes to business. Would you be hiring if you knew that boat load of taxes was coming down the pipe??? I don't think so.
3. Only 15% of the liberal pork filled stimulus has been spent and of that 15% only 7% on actual economic stimulus. Let's see...that was how long ago? 9 months and 800 billion tax payer dollars!!! What has it produced??? 3 million jobs LOST!!!!!
4. Cap n trade will hit the average house hold with big increases in fuel costs ... which ought to be just great..huh??

To: Thank You Obama: Sorry but your arguements are wrong in a number of areas.

As a business owner I know business is demand driven. But when the government DEMANDS more taxes I have no choice but to lay off more people! 40 so far! Many small businesses and large ones as well spend money and float money but do have to borrow money to expand. Unfortuneately the Obama plan has continued to lock down lending. His administration has wasted more than a trillion dollars but did not do one thing to help us in small business that create 70 percent of all the jobs!

Never said who created the EPA or Homeland Security! Just suggested ones to be eliminated. You would have seen this had you taken a few minutes to absorb what was read instead of attacking!

The military does NOT consume 52 percent of the budget. The military budget is 500 plus billion dollars of a two plus trillion dollar budget.

And for the last part I did study economics, industrial history and federal reserve bank policy and started 5 successful businesses?

And I never stated party support unlike your opening comment. I SUPPORT WORKING AMERICANS!
I know I know! | 5:13 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Rather than have a "community organizer" type summit. Just cut taxes and get government out of our lives. Small business will sky rocket and government revenues will go up along with employment!
Don | 5:17 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
To: re:Thank You Obama, Couldn't have said it better! Right on!

-Health Care taxes
-Energy Tax
-End the Bush Tax cuts.
-Increased regulation
-Increased inflation coming.
-12 billion wasted on Chrysler
-30 Billion wasted on G.M.
-Hundreds of Billions in Stimulas used on nothing yet, but tied up.
-182 Billion on AIG
-Hundred of Billion of Stimulas sent to Europe and Asia, not to American business.
-Hundreds of Billions of FREE MONEY TO THE BANKS who then RAISED INTEREST RATES OR CUT AVAILABLE CREDIT TO 30 Million Americans with good credit scores even into the 800 range!

Look Christmas is going to be a rough season like last year! The first quarter of 2010 will most likely see about 20 named retailers going under costing us 600,000 to a million jobs just like last year! Those are the facts of this administrations failures and there are many more! If you can afford the tea leaves read them! The writing is plain as day! A devalued dollar just makes it all worse! This is really going to get worse! Just ask those with the 550 billion in bad housing loans still in California coming down the pike!

Last Comment Please: To those who think or assume those of us speaking out "Hate" President Obama or wish he'd fail are 100% catagorically wrong!

The problem is, whether you see it or not, the United States is at a turning point and its not up!

President Obama is not a leader of substance! He's a talker and not a doer!

He has never in his entire life led anything!

He has run for state offices and while in first terms ran for other offices including running for Senator! As soon as he became a Senator he's running for President! He has not led and is in over his head! What makes it worse is that he has not choosen the best people!

We Americans have a stake in this! You, me and the people we do not know!

It is the hardest thing to do to listen to him talk and the Congress react in ways that make it, so we who have businesses have to lay off people we have known for years! Why? For a set political ideology that excludes people like Meg Whitman or Mitt Romney! Why? Because there Republican? How Shortsighted!

He's about a year too late. This will be just for show--like all his other stuff.
lost in DC | 1:45 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
all those folk congregating at the white house for BO's forum already have jobs. Silling in a circle singing kum bay ya will not generate real jobs.

his cap and tax proposal is a job killer.

signing on to the green house gas treaty will allow China and India to continue to pollute and mkae their manufacturing costs even lower than ours.

This guy has no more notion of economics than anyone else raised and trained by ACORN - their main sources of funds are begging from others and feeding at the public trough. No wonder he has no clue.
