This is a deceptive article just like a few weeks ago in the way it is presented. Yes job claims went down, but only the potentially posive why's? are looked at. The fact is people shifting from regular state benefits to extended Federal benefits end up experience a lag in processing due to the inefficiency of transferring from the State they reside in to having the State handle the Federal unemployment. This can take a week or two to clear up and many people are transferring now. So the reality of unemployment is that it is still going up and the reading of this figure is a political tool that ends up helping no one but maybe the administration for a few days! If the system was seemless we would not read this, but the system is not seemless! It's the government, what can you expect?

Government spin for an increasing number of people giving up.
