Blablabla.... | 12:08 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
No wondering why we got 2 embarrasing blowouts, if they were part of a bad team before, why minding losing some more games, right guys ?. The only diference between Bronco's teams and Crowton's teams is that Bronco's at least beat inferior teams, something that Crowton's had a hard time doing. Until Bronco's start beating quality teams as well, then we could honestly say "the program is doing well", but until that players and fans alike are going to keep lying to ourselves "the program is back", "we can play anyone", certainly Bronco's teams haven't acomplished that, remember Arizona and Boston in 2006, Ucla and Tulsa in 2007, TCU, Utah and Arizona in 2008, FSU and TCU and hopefully nobody else in 2009. We just can't play big against quality teams players and coaches alike. Hall, Unga, ,etc put numbers against inferior teams, but chickened up against equal or superior teams. If Bronco and the team's liders (if there's any at all) could show a little emotion and lidership at the games (no just after or before), we would have been at leasdt to 1 BCS bowl. NO EXCUSES, JUST WIN.

is an average team @ best. They have already been scrapped twice @ home this year and it should be the same when the Utes roll down to prov0.

Cougar fans, enjoy another below average bowl game and keep thinking about 1884.

The rest of us are in the BCS era, where the Utes are knocking on the door of a 3rd BCS game in less than a decade.

I don't get all the cry and fuss over whether you see emotion or not. Are we not counseled to suppress anger and frustration, and to deal with them in mature ways? How do YOU know what the players are feeling? Ever been in front of 64k people, and walked through the week(s) following what it is like to feel like tens of thousands spread around the country/globe are all downcast over the performance?

"Just win" takes the game out of it - you give no credit to the other team - just try to dismantle your team verbally and with weak accusations.

Perhaps you need to yell louder, stay longer, or come earlier. "Just win" works if the other team doesn't show up. "Just win" means forget the principles behind the means, but just get to the right end. I think Bronco is a bit better grounded than doing a disservice to the school, the program, and the fans by being pretentious about the standards, and recruiting players who are not excited about the honor code.

It is a game of breaks, and out-guessing/foxing the other. No one likes losing. Someone does. Cheer the Cougars.

The Boise State and Colorado State games at Cougar Stadium in 2004 was awesome!! It was excellent comedy!!

That 2004 BYU season was the cherry on top of the undefeated, BSC Ute season. Go Utes!

Ute arrogance at its finest. Utah fans still haven't learned the art of graceful winning. Better not spend the money until the check has cleared and don't celebrate until after the TCU game. Talk about it then and hopefully after you have matured.

The Utes are rather arrogant about the success they have once every 4 years. How arrogant will they feel when the cougars are ranked higher after this weekend?

I am a Ute fan, I am glad Whitt chose the U over you, however, I have to give Bronco credit where it is due, and that is in relation to the off field problems BYU had under Crowton. Not only did it give the team a black eye, it gave the school and church a problem as well. I do not think Bronco is good at coaching on the field. But he does a great job coaching these young men for life after football and that can not be overlooked.

"the Utes are knocking on the door of a 3rd BCS game in less than a decade."

There's a bunch of wishful thinking. The Utes have less of a shot than Houston at making the BCS. First you still have to beat the best two teams on your schedule (Oregon was bad at the beginning of the season and Utah hasn't played anyone else worth mentioning) Half of those games went down to final few minutes or overtime as well. Then you have to hope for other teams to lose as well. There's no way a one loss Utah gets in ahead of Iowa, or USC. You can keep your hopes up but that wave that your riding is about to crash on the shore.

No. 22 BYU (7-2) at New Mexico (0-8)

gee I hope BYU can play as well as they practice and pull out a win at winless New Mexico ...

lets all run out and get "the MTN" so we can watch one of the lamest games of the year.
go cougars ... Raw, Raw ... um what was I doing...

"the MTN" stinks.

BYU is a great institution! Football is one of many things that BYU is good at. I think Crowton had a tough go of it and that Bronco is doing what he should do. He needs to prep these young men for life and he does it well. BYU is winning over 80% of it's games and whether you are a fan or not, that is great. As far as the quality of the opponent, all D-1 teams have the capability of beating anyone at any time. Ask Michigan. I love to see good teams like BYU, Notre Dame, USC, and many others that have great tradition. Utah is in there along with TCU. The MWC is a strong, YOUNG, conference that is starting to get it's due. I am glad to be in Utah and to experience the great rivalry between BYU and Utah. These are two great teams and I am happy that both are winners. It really is too bad that there has to be a loser in every game. Both storied programs have great followings and our recruiting is getting better because of the performance of both teams! Thanks to our TEAMS.

Go cheer for the Aggies, that like to cry a lot too.

To the BYU comment of 2:19: Wishful thinking that Utah will come down to Provo and roll over the Cougars! They will not only get beat by the Cougars but they will lose by about 35-17 to TCU!

I am behind TCU all the way so I as a BYU fan will be cheering for them over Utah this weekend since TCU has the best chance at making a big BCS game.

Of course that is exactly like what I did last year when I backed the Utes in their bowl game after they beat the Cougars. In the Mtn West Conference we have to back the team that has the best shot at being the BCS buster and that is TCU this year!
AK Cougar | 1:05 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
To all my UTE friends. You are supposed to be preparing for TCU, but some cannot resist spending all that prep time dissing BYU. Saturday will tell your (BYU haters) true story. I am hopeful that Whit and co. prepare well, or a big goose egg will be the end result of Saturdays game.

Bronco has his perspective right. The newer players simply expect to win. Pitta doesn't and his work on the field shows how hard he wants to win.

The difference in winning and losing in most D1 games is not very far apart. An errant pass, a stumble when turning up the field, a missed tackle etc. A couple of plays and the W could easily have been in the other teams favor.

Go Cougars BYU 55 UNM 0

TCU 28 Utah 0
I would post my prediction about Utah on a Utah article, but few reads them and fewer posts on them.
re: 2004 | 1:06 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Thank you once again for illustrating so brilliantly that there are no true utah fans only BYU haters and utah is still wallowing in the little brother mire constantly needing to compare themselves to their big brother BYU in order to have any kind of meaningful existance.
Oh Please!!! | 1:08 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
"The good thing about our team is, especially this year, there's a lot of passion, a lot of desire and a lot of fight,".Say what??? Hmmm, 70-14 in the past two years against TCU and a home blow out against FSU have shown anything but a team with passion for winning - more like a team that is satisfied with the status quo. After the TCU game and hearing Bronco and Max Hall talk you would think the team was just looking forward to the bye week with ZERO passion and little care that they just underperformed in an embarrassing way. That's the deal with Bronco ball - no passion and sort of a ho-hum attitude if they win or lose. Even Bronco himself puts winning as his #4 PRIORITY which speaks volumes about the where the program really is.
re: mrmagic | 1:15 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
"It really is too bad that there has to be a loser in every game."

Good post, but on your point above utah fans still claim a win even when they lose to BYU. Their stat line goes like this: W-MV-L (wins - moral victories - losses). Just ask any utah fan about their 2006-07 losses to BYU. They'll tell you they were the better team and we were just "lucky". So according to utah fans their record against BYU over the past 3 years if 1-2-0. On a related note, their record this year against Oregon is 0-1-0.
re: re: mrmagic | 2:36 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Straight up wins and losses is something like
55-23 in favor of Utah. I don't think Utah needs your made up moral victories. I'm just sayin'.
OK | 2:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
When BYU beats a team that actually matters, then I will be impressed.
Darker Days... | 2:57 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Haven't all BYU players experiencee darker days when they were in high-school and BYU was the only one recruiting them?
re: re: mrmagic | 3:47 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Good one! Yes those moral victories are important to utah fans and believe me they do keep track of them.
re: darker days | 4:08 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
yes tell that to the players who turned down scholarship offers from utah because they instead preferred to walk on at BYU...
Get off your....... | 5:27 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
This probably wont matter to the whinners, but here goes anyways....

I'm an old guy....57 to be exact....played in the Cougar band back in the late seventies and the early eighties....we had good teams then to, and the aspirations of the fans then are just as they are now....just win...no diference at all.

My point? The band traveled with the team to Oregon to see the Cougars play the Ducks in 1978. BYU was supposed to win the game, but by the fourth quarter had met a fire storm in Oregon. We were losing a low scoring game....something like 16-6. No one was fired up. The team was moping, the cheerandyell leaders were moping...most of the band was moping...but personally I didn't sign up to see us lose....did we? No. There was a few in the band that didn't come all that way to lose either. So we started doing cheers. Everyone looked at us like we were stuoid but WE didn't care....We won the game 17-16...Coach Edwards thanked us for our attitudes and energy....so get off youe ### and cheer lazy butts.........

Hey Puctah fan ! You have your foot in your big mouth ! If you could remember that far back, you should rem. Boise St. kicked your rears all over Rice Eccs. 36 to 3 in 2006 . You've got some big wins in 2009 . I think your luck will run out SAT. EXPOSED.

I'm sick of Utes that have to measure themselves against BYU all of the time.

I'm sick of BYU fans that are living in some alternate reality. Bronco has won big games! OU, UCLA, Arizona, Utah, etc.

Teams of the seasons past also won and lost big games. We may not be a top 10 team, but, on average, we are as good as any past BYU team. I'd take Max Hall and company in a heads up match over the 1984 NC team any day.

Get behind your team posers!
