TCU, non-BCS schools must be careful what they wish for

Kyle's hubris in starting a freshman quarterback with only 6 quarters of experience against the #4 team in the country on the road will be a disaster.
But, in a way, a good strategy for Kyle, since, now he can blame having to start a freshman quarterback as the reason Utah lost, even though Kyle knows Utah never had a chance of beating TCU on the road this year.
There's a reason the #16 team is a 20-point underdog; the Vegas bookies understand what Utah fans have been too blind to see, that Utah just isn't that good this year.

TCU does not have to.
All the works have been done by Utah.
If TCU manage to stay unbeaten, they will have a better chance to get to the NC game this year.

Utah is good, though clearly not as good as last years team. Utah will lose to a
very solid TCU team, then crap shoot against BYU. I give the odds to BYU in that
game.
Utah aside, TCU is just a classy team that I hope wins out and produces another Utah-Alabama type shocker. I highly doubt TCU will get into a title game but they should get another solid team like Alabama. Heck, if Bama loses to Florida in the SEC title game, they might get Bama. And then, I want TCU to do what Utah did last year.
I am solid BYU, MWC comes in second and TCU and Utah third. It is fun being part of an underdog class that has three solid teams that year in and year out, one of them has the potential to really stir things up. I'm still waiting for BYU to have that year, but this one is clearly TCU's.

Byu fans get off our ride you guys are not that good Bronco even admitted it. If
we win great if TCU wins I will fully support their quest for a BCS
championship. BYU is not in the same class as TCU or utah. give it up little
sisters. we are the defending sugar bowl champs.

Small time conferences and teams better be careful - the Big Dogs might wake up and take you serious enough to really prepare - Alabama slept too long last time.

you are right BYU was not in the same class this year as TCU, but you were
presumptous to put utah in TCU's class. u are not and will be smacked this
week and then again by BYU as you are not in their class either.

I like the approach of TCU, let your game do the talking. Schedule and win big
games. That is the way to a national championship game. BYU did the scheduling
right this year, but just didn't win the games. If BYU had beaten Florida
State and TCU, they would have been in the conversation. Of course they would be
a better team and would maybe deserve being in the conversation. TCU has a
chance to get there, but if Texas wins out and either Florida or Alabama win out
TCU will not play of a Championship. I don't have a problem with putting
those three teams above TCU based on their schedule and their wins, but I would
like to see a playoff and have a true champion each year.

ONE of the reasons TCU is getting so much attention and respect right now is the
success Utah has had. You can try to argue against me all you want, but Utah
going undefeated last year and winning the Sugar Bowl opened a lot of
peoples' eyes to the conference. It helped TCU's preseason ranking and
people are saying what???? "Is TCU this year's Utah?"
The success TCU is having this year may help Utah for the same reasons - as long as they don't get blown out (like BYU did), and they won't. This is going to be a good game.

The only ones running scared in the whole BCS mess are the big dogs who know that if they give the little dogs an equal seat at the table, the little dogs may very well turn around to bite them.
Heaven forbid the mighty SEC might have to prove they're better on the field instead of only in the popular opinion polls.

As much as I want to hate Coach Patterson, I find myself admiring him and
respecting him. The man can coach football with the best of them. Unless OK
starts looking for a new coach (unlikely...even after this year), it sounds as
though Patterson is here to stay in the MWC (which is going to be tough for the
rest of us, but good for the conference).

The “real facts” are building, almost every year the BCS fails to provide a definitive champion.
In 2003 USC is #1 in both polls and doesn’t go to the title game.
In 2004 the season ends with 5 undefeated teams, Auburn runs the table in the SEC and is left out, Utah has one of the most dominating years in the last half-century and is also left out.
2006 There is one undefeated team Boise State that beats Oklahoma, but finishes w/o a shot.
2007 Two loss LSU wins the BCS hardware forever destroying the canard of College Football’s regular season being a “playoff.”
2008 Undefeated Utah crushes Alabama that spent 5 weeks at #1... Once again the one undefeated team is not given a chance at the title.
Playoff’s baby, if the big dogs are so sure of themselves then let them prove their metal on the playing field.

I'd say that the non-BCS teams are more than holding their own when they go
to BCS bowls. With the exception of Hawaii how have the non-BCS schools donw
against the big boys? Utah beats Pitt, Boise beats Oklahoma, Georgia beats
Hawaii, Utah beats Alabama - I believe that is 3-1 for the little guys.
That's why we love sports because the little guys beat the big boys 75% of
the time!
It drives me bonkers when writers act like Utah beating Alabama had to be a huge upset, no they were undefeated and when they B- Slapped Alabama it sent a message that Utah was a good as any 'big boy'.

I suspect Utah, BYU nor TCU for that matter has the recruiting ability to
dominate the MWC year in and year out. The thought that Utah should and-or
could be the MWC chamption every year has no historical basis nor context in
reality.
This is TCU's year. Last year was Utah's.
Utah will give TCU a great game, but TCU at home should rightly prevail. Little chance that TCU is overlooking Utah.
Good luck TCU in your BSC game. Represent the MWC conference well.
BYU on the otherhand - well lets get by the next two games first. But my money is on Utah and their speed and defense. Utah is having a pretty good rebuild year, better than expected for the most part - and the most important game will be the showdown in Provo. As is should be. Two great in-state rival teams fighting it out - can't wait.
Who knows maybe we meet BSU in a bowl game.
