Much respect Davis u have a great squad. Let's go boys Davis will be ready we better bring it like we have never before. My prediction the winner of this match up will win the state title. No one including the miners or hawks expects these young men to challenge them for the title. Davis Hunter let's open eyes on Friday

I'm looking forward to Hunter and Davis pounding the ball against each other. I'm sure both teams will do their best to show who has the premiere running game in the state. This will be good.

DHS DARTS | 12:27 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I think this will be the grittiest game all season. It's gonna come down to a few breakout plays, and I think Davis had the advantage in that category. Hinds can brakout big plays. The score will be within a touchdown, and around 20 points for each team. The winner of Bingham and Alta better watch out. Davis and hunter are both peaking right now. Gonna be a good one. Darts!

It is going to come down to who can throw the ball better. I give that edge to Hunter.

Good luck!
Final Score | 7:46 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Final Score Prediction:

Bingham/Alta winner 40, Davis/Hunter winner 14.

This game is just a formality and a step in the process of crowning the state champion from the other side of the bracket.
best style of football | 8:25 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
In my mind, this is the best game of the weekend - nothing like watching football the way it should be played, physical. It's nice to see two teams that haven't sold out to the trend of the spread.

Good luck to both. Kap - good to see you enjoying success.
re: Davis Alum  | 8:42 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I would have to agree. I actually wrote a lot more stuff, but decided if I wanted this posted I better not pick on anyone.
RE: Playing for 3rd place | 8:44 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Sounds like somebody's already making excuses for not making it to the Championship game.
Anonymous | 8:56 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Don't try to bait us into throwing the football. :)
Look at the Stats | 9:02 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
If you look at the complete season stats, Davis and Hunter are only playing for #2 and that is a gimmie. It should be 3 and 4. Oh well the real championship game is fri afternoon. Bingham and Alta stats are off the charts compared to Davis and Hunter. Look read the article. No comparison!
Davis this isn't the wffl | 9:20 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Davis you can't have your older but lighters here... Hunter playing for 3rd
re:best style of football | 9:40 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
"Sold out to the spread"???
I can promise you this; if these teams could throw the ball, they would. The spread is not a "pass only" offense. If you're going to be effective, you run the ball at least 40% of the time. Imagine Hunter with that line and those big backs, now lining up as slots and wideouts running short crossing routes. They would be undefeated.
They simply pound the ball because thats all they can do.
HUH? | 9:56 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
so, i still dont get all the comments about this game meaning nothing. You alta and bingham fans sound like Alabama fans going into the sugar bowl! counting your chickens before they hatch! and just so you know, Hunter and Davis are great football teams, that's why they are in the semis!! and whoever makes it to the finals already has so much buelletin board material to get fired up and win!
old coach | 10:16 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Talk is cheap that's why they play the games.
It seems to me | 10:20 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
That many on here are using the same logic that all posters were so upset with PG fans about. Get it in your heads! There are games to be played! You can't give a title prematurely to anyone. The winner of the Davis/Hunter game has the same possibility of a state title as do Alta and Bingham. Stats go out the window. Records go out the window. This is the playoffs. It is a new season. But what do I know? I am obviously not as smart as you armchair quarterbacks who know it all. How many of you have seen Davis play this year? How many have seen Hunter, Bingham, Alta? How many can name any player on any team besides the one or two star players? Remember, last time I checked there are 22 on the field at any given time. All 4 teams left obviously have good teams. To say that the "real championship" is played tomorrow shows a certain level of ignorance attributed to being an armchair quarterback who knows very little about the game of football.
5A final | 10:25 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I know there are a lot of posts about the Bingham v Alta game being the 'Real' State Championship. I guarantee they are not Players or coaches from either team. Not likely parents either. Most are likely HS football fans and they are actually pretty objective.

Bingham and Alta are the 2 best teams in the State. That is a fact. The problem is that the best team does not always win. If they are just way too talented, big and strong like say Bingham against WJ or Taylorsville, that is one thing. The Hunter/Davis winner can keep it close enough to pull of the upset. Trust me, the winner of the Bingham v Alta game will NOT take the Championship for granted. They will play hard and will not overlook the last game. All 4 teams know what is on the line.
Hunter Fan | 10:26 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Good luck to both teams. It should be a great game and I love that everyone is overlooking both Hunter and Davis. Coach Pearce always puts together a great game plan and gets his kids prepared regardless of who he plays. We will see who is holding the trophy soon enough. Have fun and lets hope Davis/Hunter winner takes it all!

No its because we want to
Re: Davis Alum also | 10:42 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I have also tried to post but they will not post what you write even if it is just stats. I think that Davis's downfall whether in this game or the championship will be their inability to throw the ball. It will take more balance to win it all.
RE: HUH? | 10:54 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I couldn't agree more. Davis and Hunter showed that Alta plays in a region that is average at best. I will say that Bingham is the class of 5A right now. They haven't lost a game in Utah this year so they are the team to beat. I'm sure that Alta will make it close against Bingham because it is a rivalry game.
Yeah | 11:00 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Davis Beat the Best team ever assembeled in the State of Utah from Pleasant Grove. Those 8-9 D-1 Players are now sitting at home waiting to sign those D-1 Letters if they ever come now. Hunter will Beat Davis tomorrow and Bingham will beat Alta. Hunter has a good Chance of Beating Bingham in the Championship game as they can run the ball and control the clock and keep the ball out of Binghams hands. But will It be enough? Probably not.

Bingham in a Nailbiter

Bingham 28
Hunter 27
Throw it!! pound it!!! throw it! | 11:08 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Davis- 28
Hunter- 10

we're gonna pass it, then run it, then pass it, then run it, then pass it, and then run it on you guys all day long... your defence will be dizzy from running in circles not knowing where to go...
write it down.
5A Final, | 11:22 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
The two best teams in the state will be the ones that play for the championship. Period. All the preseason stuff doesn't matter. Just ask PG.
Anonymous | 11:28 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Actually it is not a fact that Alta and Bingham r the best two teams in the state. The best team has to win the state championship. By your logic Brighton is actually the best team in state because they destroyed Davis and Hunter and beat Alta in region play. But Brighton ended up losing therefore they r not the best. Your comment proves that all u Bingham Alta fans r the same. Your backhanded compliment dosent mean much to us we would love to see u at res next week. win the state title then say you r the best.
Maybe ... | 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
maybe we should pick the winner by who has the prettiest team colors on thier uniforms and not play the games.

then we'd all know who'd take state ...

Here is the fashion girls pick ...
#1 Men in black (and red) Alta, pretty sic if you ask me guys. WOW !
#2 Those pretty boys in white from Hunter ... don't get those white uniforms dirty! If they could add like a pink swoosh on their helmets, then I might move them up to #1.
#3 blue and white Miners- just so so average guys.
#4 ooooooohh ugly... sorry boys from Davis but those things are just pathetic- brown and yellow ... who came up with those colors they don't even match.
well like I'm off to get my nails done. bye bye boys.

Even though the team I would go for is out of the playoffs I can't help but to to root for Hunter. The turnaround they have made this year has been awesome. I know they are an underdog to win it all but I think it would be a great story. Plus who wants to see Alta or Bingham win it.
2004 | 3:50 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Davis was going to get there heads handed to them by Skyline in the Semi's, no-one gave Davis a chance in that game. Yes Davis in there ugly Gold/White & Brown uni's beat the eagles. Again, Davis faced the Colts in the finals. The Cottonwood Clots of 04 where monsters, and hands down favorites to simply crush Davis. The Davis vs. Cottonwood finals went down in Utah High School football history as the highest scoring event in history. Oh yea Davis won 52 to Colts 45 so continue to count the Davis out...PLAY THE GAME AND SHOUT UP...
5A Finals | 4:19 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I am a HUGE Bingham supporter. The posts on here saying the "Real" 5A championship is tomorrow are ridiculous!! I can GUARANTEE you that no one at Bingham thinks that.. Do they think tomorrow is going to be an all out war? Yes!! Do they think if they win tomorrow it all ends there? Not a chance! They know if they get the W tomorrow, they will face another worthy, tough opponent on the other side of the bracket.. The posters who say otherwise aren't in anyway affiliated with Bingham or they wouldn't be saying this kind of crap! I'm sure Alta fans feel the same way. Both teams really are class acts!
Same/Same | 4:22 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
The winner of the Bingham/Alta game will again win the State Title. The rest of you teams are a bunch of POSERS. Timpview was destroyed, Cottonwwod was destroyed and these are recruiting schools. What chance does Hunter/Davis have with a feeder program of over 1000 kids at both Bingham and Alta that hate each other starting at 8yrs old. Over a 100 plus kids on each of the sidelines pushing the starters every day!! Different League Boys

i hope hunter plays bigham so the line can RUN EM OVER!!!! they wont know what hit em!!! GO HUNTER!!!!!!!!
Dave Foxx | 5:52 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I look for this game to be won or lost in the trenches. With Davis's DE Kariya and Hinds playing a big role again. Also with two premiere running games going up against each other in the state semifinals....it will prove to be an exciting game. Anyway, I see a low scoring game in this one, with one or two turnovers and a big play to determine the winner. Davis's defense has held strong all year and proven themselves to be top in state. They will be tested in this game with a top notch opponent. Hunter's offense will need to be able push through the defense for them to have a chance in this game. All said and done I give the edge to Davis for a couple reasons 1. Tanner Hinds 2. Tanner Hinds 3. Davis Defense. This game will be a very close one and may just come down to simple PAT's or field goal's. Both teams have earned the right to play in this game and the winner of it in the state championship. Good luck to both teams. Davis by a touchdown or so-somewhere around 17-13.

Thanks Davis for a great season. You are a great team with great players, good coaches and awesome fans. I have a son on the Northridge HS football team but we will be in the stands cheering you on. Play hard, win this one and then lets take it to either Alta or Bingham next week. Its time to bring the championship trophy back to Davis County.
