"Foolish" is a matter of perspective, Mr. Brown.

Don Gale's commentary was spot-on. "Outrage for hire" shows such as Beck's really are dumbing-down the nation.

The sad thing about it is that there are actually people out there that are so unteachable, so blind, so unreasonably certain that they know everything about these great public speakers that were maligned by Gale, that they will never see how skewed Gale's comments were, regardless of how many posts here prove him wrong.

Jared, your frustration is understandable . . . and your intent is admirable. But, please avoid falling into the same trap Dr. Gale did. Attack the argument not the person making it.

Dr. Gale gave no reason for his implied distaste for Beck, Limbaugh, et al. He simply attacked them and the means (radio) by which they communicate.

Arguments based on such shaky ground do not move closer to truth and serve little value . . . except that Dr. Gale, even with his fallacious logic, has given so many pause for thought.

And, that is a good thing.

Don Gale was accurate in what he said. Too bad so many people are so skewed in their thinking that they would buy into the garbage Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, et al, spew. They poison the public discussion, and seek to incite and destroy rather than try to bring the country together to work on its problems. Mr Gale struck a nerve. I see people crawling out from under their tin foil hats to toss stones at him. The ironic thing is that none of these stones have any substance. This proves Mr. Gales points.

Sorry, these talk show hosts aren't using intelligent discussion---it's propaganda. I'm a conservative, so I believe much of what they say, but I hate the way they say it. It simply discourages discussion, critical thinking, and compassion for others of dissenting views. Their shows are trash. I turn them on and last about 5 minutes before turning them off---and I'm a conservative!

Gale was right on. We need more intelligent and bipartisan discussion on the radio.

I imagine Gale is considered not only ignorant, but something much worse in Utahonics: IGnernt.

Oh, this letter is hysterical. An "an age-related phenomenon that befalls all old liberal media and news people when they either lose the ability to screen their true thoughts and motives or they come to believe that their distorted views are the actual reality and truth?" This actually describes Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh, whose audience is older, more blue collar, and have no ability to screen their thoughts and motives, and thus have distorted views. Wow, talk about hyperbole. Don Gale had it exactly right.

I would add, the same goes for Rachel Maddow and similar liberal hosts. Chris Matthews is usually better, but not always.

It's just the standard paleoliberal response to truth. When you can't argue logically with a concept, all you're left with is to unfaily and dishonsetly ridicule it. Or the messenger.

That's standard Alinsky-inspired "community organizing" procedure. We used to call it mobocracy, but then it was reborn as legitimate politics, since that's what Obama is famous for.

If liberals were required to tell the truth about their plans and designs, who would buy into them?

I get my political commentary from MSNBC. Sure they have an admitted liberal bias, but they don't deliberately distort the truth, and they correct themselves when they make a mistake - something the Rush O'Hannity's of the world never do.

Beck claims that Obama has an unprecedented number 32 "czars" when in fact Gorge W Bush had 35 “Czars”. He also claims that these “Czars” are just put into place by Obama with no oversight when in fact only eight are Obama appointed unconfirmed brand new “czars”, further fifteen of the “czars” where created by previous administrations. In case you are wondering why “czars” are in quotes it is because that is not their official title but rather a term made up by the media.

On his July 31 episode Glenn Beck invited Fox News anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle onto his show to talk about the Consumer Assistance Recycle and Save Act of 2009, more commonly known as the "Cash for Clunkers" program. The program gives consumers vouchers of up to $4,500 dollars in exchange for their old "clunker" cars. The vouchers go toward the purchase of new, more fuel efficient cars. Glenn Beck said that the government will get complete access to your computer and all of your files when you log on to Cars.gov for the Cash for Clunkers program. This claim is false. Beck quoted from a security message on the site for dealers, not the site for the general public.
