Oh come on. Obama's a horrible president, but I couldn't care less which photo op he chooses to pose for this week.
How many letters? | 5:13 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Did you write about your disappointment with Bushco CEO Cheney?
Indiana | 6:22 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Oh, I am afraid going to Berlin was about much more than a photo op... It was about showing solidarity with a nation that suffered terribly under a faulty Communistic authority and finally found freedom and ease under the leadership of a great man named Ronald Reagan. I find it appalling too that he did not go commemorate with them.. What a shame!

If this is sad and disappointing to you, you must have many sad and disappointing moments in your life.
Clark | 7:18 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Or perhaps Obama, like Putin, doesn't think the demise of totalitarianism is something to celebrate.
wallofvoodoo | 7:35 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I'm glad he didn't waste taxpayer money on a photo op. Its about time he came to his senses.
Hello!! | 7:36 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Hello!!! Obama presided over the Fort Hood memorial and then honored Veterans this week during the "photo op" of the Berlin Wall celebration. I bet right wingers would have criticized Obama for jet setting to Europe for the Berlin gig and snubbing Fort Hood if he chose what this author is complaining about! Please!!!
Darrel | 7:49 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
While I am happy the wall came down, what does commemorating it have to do with the US now? It wasn't our wall, and communism didn't fall...look at China and Cuba.
At least Copenhagen was about bringing the Olympics here. The country would not have gained anything by the President going to commemorate a German/Russian achievement.
Oh how sweet | 7:59 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
The sound of the wingnuts whining as they twist in the wind! There is nothing to rediculous or small to keep them from hammering the POTUS. If he had gone to Berlin they would have railed for his going, if he stays he is a totalarian, born in Kenya, organizer of death panels, a closet practicing Muslim, constitution destroying monster, yet elected by 50% plus of the voters. Contrary to the conservs hero's Beck, Limbaugh and Hannity the majority (ok bring on your sective polls) of the people agree with his efforts. Enjoy the next 7 years.

This letter is a great opening for a discussion of cloning whoever is President so that we never have to read this kind of drivel again. With cloning we could have a President who would never again risk being politically incorrect. He could go to a G20 meeting, Berlin for the "wall" anniversary, Ft. Hood memorial, vacation in Hawaii and attend the national yo-yo convention in Cleveland all on the same day!

PS. Doesn't he get credit for wearing a flag pin yesterday and putting his hand over his heart?
Anonymous | 8:10 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
What a worthless letter. Just more sour grapes. Listen up, If you ever want to win another election then you must come up with ACTUAL WORKABLE SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS!! Acting like a 3 year old who didnt get their way will never be a reason to vote for so called 'conservatives'.
re: Oh how sweet | 7:59 a.m. | 8:19 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
"The sound of the wingnuts whining"

thank once again for fine example of liberal tolerance

He left today for a 10 day visit to China and the Far East. This has greater ramifications than an event that happened 20 years ago. It is a European event, and the U.S. was well represented. Were all Western leaders there? No. The Olympic try was to push for a direct future benefit to the U.S. There is a difference. This is just partisan sniping.

I find it very telling how the left in general has responded to the complaints of the right since Obama was elected. They act as petty and immature as they claim the right is.
Obama is.... | 9:41 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Our President, and his entourage, are the most "Anti-American" group ever! A bold statement I know, but history will show how their picture of our country is radically different than what the Constitution established.

BHO does not love freedom, which the bringing down of the Berlin Wall represented. He wants to change what we are as Americans. Freedom is his enemy.
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 9:46 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
HOLD ON HERE for a minute, when YOU loudly boast outloud about Obamanation, not having the time to show up for a photo opp at the Berlin wall, along with all the other's that did show up, then talking out of the right side of your mouth, you quickly speak new word's, such as; "the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the end of communism", YOU to need to "KNOW SOMETHING", before you speak, with a "Letter to the Editor" of DN. About the only thing you had right, was the Berlin Wall came down, and opened up the area between East and West, in Germany. However, as for the end of communism, ask yourself, did it STOP in Cuba, Canada, Russia, the Middle East, China, and a host of other Countries as well ?. "NOPE". Why not?. Because there's NOT a end of communism just yet. As for Obamanation here in the US, is he really trying to end communism (aka, a socialist utopian USA), "NOPE", and neither is any RINO, Democrat and GOP either here in America. Now why is that?. You should be saying, Mr Obama, tear down that Wall here in America to.
MormonDem | 9:50 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
And imagine the complaining if Obama had gone to Berlin and skipped the Fort Hood memorial!

No matter what it is, if Obama did it, conservatives will complain about it.

What's that, conservatives? Say it in English; I don't speak Whinese.
Time to do your pleasure | 10:01 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Mr Obama has time to do what he considers important. Things like globetrotting; we all know he was elected President of the World.

Maybe he should stay home and do his job, or stay away and let The People work with Congress without his constant directing that other branch of government. Perhaps the Pres and the Congress ought to act, not in concert, but like two different and mutually balancing powers, each properly jealous of their own place and role.
Grover | 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Since we have such a cheering section today for tearing down walls, why not do it closer to home and tear down the stupid wall between the US and Mexico. Of course then we would have to deal with immigration instead of shouting past one another on the subject.
@ MormonDem 9:50 a.m. | 10:32 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
You actually believe that Obama is someone to respect? The office yes, the person NO! He can't do anything right because he has no true principles. His remarks about the Ft.Hood are a disgrace as well, he was more concerned with how we viewed the perpetrator (terrorist) than the true victims, those that were killed. His views and principles are anti-american so we conservatives will "complain" at ever opportunity!
@ MormonDem 9:50 a.m. | 11:18 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Obama turned down the invite to participate in the "Berlin Wall Anniv." long before the terrorism occurred at Ft.Hood. The memorial service was a convenient escuse for liberals! He is anti-American!
Wow, Clark | 11:25 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Your letter gave the wingnuts something more to celebrate.
Ernest T. Bass | 11:37 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
MormonDem at 9:50 is EXACTLY correct.
The myth that Ronald Reagan pushed down the wall is absurd.
The uprising in Poland (thank you Walensa) , along with the Pope putting a ton of pressure on the commies had more to do with it.
But the biggest factor in the wall coming down was that the Soviet Union went bankrupt fighting in Afghanistan. That was far and way the number one reason the Soviet Union failed. It wasn't Reagan.
But then again, repugs love believing that myth is reality so I'm not surprised they continue to do it.
Iraq for the US is what Afghanistan was to the Soviet Union: completely unnecessary, the true costs are much higher than the government wants anyone to believe.

Drinking again Ernst T? It was REAGAN who brought down the wall....period! Who did you credit....The Pope...LOL!!

Lunatic lefties.....BO hates freedom, so why would he celebrate freedom in Germany....?

If Germany announced the wall was going back up...Obama would be the first one there to celebrate.....and would cement the first brick!!

He is too busy spending away our future. It's a full time job to single-handedly ruin us. Come on conservatives, give him a break. He's a busy guy.
Anonymous | 1:36 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
You have no idea what he was dealing with on those days. It may well be that he was busy making a lot of decisions that prevented nuclear war and attacks on the United States. A lot of what happens during the day at the White House is never known and that is something that you need to understand.

Obama may have been extremely busy with matters of important concern. For all you know he was ordering special forces to take down a terrorist ring that was about to carry out a terrorist attack on Berlin as a way to scare the world at a time when we are supposed to be united about freedom, liberty and the commonalities of man.

So it is time for you to grow up and realize that he may have been busier than you will ever know.
Busy work | 1:42 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
He's too busy playing golf and basketball.

Maybe Michael Moore should do a movie about how OBAMA was playing golf the day of the Fort Hood masacre. Or about how over 4000 Americans have already died (and counting) from H1N1 but the Obama Administration has totally botched their job of providing protection from this (Obama's Katrina).

Maybe Obama is too busy with golf and bball to do anything about Global Warming in his first year in office. He's done NOTHING about it... but somehow the fuss about it has suddenly quited down compared to the panic they seemed to have during the Bush Administration.

He's been too busy to do anything about our dependence on foreign_oil. But the clamoring for a solution has stoped? Hmmmm...

He's been to busy to do anything about the 2 wars he PROMISED to end.

Maybe he's too busy deciding WHO of his buddies will get the billions in tax dollars from the next stimulus spending package?

Or figuring out how to buy more printing machines so he can print money FASTER to pay for his administration?

I don't know, but I KNOW he's VERY busy.
Grover | 2:09 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
As I recall the last time the guy showed up in Germany he got too big a crowd for the "right"ous. He was a rock star to the Europeans...bad. Now he loses points because he has better things to do?
Re "Grover | 2:09 p.m." | 2:35 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
You're right "Grover | 2:09 p.m.". If Obama HAD gone to Germany to give a speach at the celebration... he would have probably given a speach just like the LAST one he gave in Berlin, where he appologised for America, promised the German crowd that he would disarm America, etc.

On second thought THAT speach probably wouldn't have gone over quite so well at this type of occasion.
re: Busy Work | 3:47 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Out of 8 years Bush was president, he was on vacation for 6.5 of those years. How much brush could there be to clear on his ranch?
Oh how Sweet | 4:51 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Oh I'm sorry, I must have hit a nerve. Heh Heh.
RE: re: Busy Work | 3:47 p.m | 5:13 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Actually Obama has played more golf in 10 months than bush did in 8 years.

Perhaps you should clean your own house first.

Apparently Obama is not doing much but flying around and giving speeches.

but I guess acting like leader is just too much to ask someone who has NO executive leadership experience.
MormonDem | 5:45 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Wow. The blind hatred here is simply breathtaking. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. And I predict that it won't be long before you will be.
MormonDem | 12:18 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
You are not right and it won't be very long until even YOU will realize that!
Jim | 8:36 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Obama's done more good in one year than Bush did in eight. Sore loser sour grapes.
keller | 10:01 a.m. Nov. 13, 2009
Obama has a big job cleaning up after Bush. It will not be easy and it will take some time. But, when it is all said and done, Obama will go down in history as one of the all time greatest Americans. For those who wish him ill, they are only hurting themselves and our nation. Jealousy, prejudice, hate and greed are toxic and self destructive. It is time for all Americans to get on board and work together for a better nation and tomorrow.
Re "re: Busy Work | 3:47 p.m. " | 4:10 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
re: Busy Work | 3:47 p.m.

I heard on MSNBC last night (note: that's NOT FoxNews but MSNBC) on Hardball with Chris Mathews that with this current trip to Asia Obama has now set the record for most country's visited in a year for a President.

That's a record! Meaning more than Bush did... or any OTHER President for that matter.

More and more you're going to find it harder to deflect everything Obama does by saying, "Ya but what about Bush...".

Eventually that doesn't work.
Obama's priorities | 4:21 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
the collapse of the Berlin Wall isn't something that Obama views as all that important - after all socialism is a kiss'en cousin to communism. Take a look at the things that Obama has dismissed ...

1. Christianity and the national day of prayer
2. The celebration of the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the fall of the USSR (evil empire).

clearly this man is out of touch with most Americans.
