Eli Lilly sells a drug {ZYPREXA} that can cause diabetes and then turn a profit on the drugs that treat the condition that they may have caused in the first place!

Eli Lilly has made $38 billion on Zyprexa and it was way oversold and caused diabetes and in some cases sudden death.
Eli Lilly has received a huge criminal fine over their Zyprexa cash cow,add it all up comes to $4.6 billion, in Zyprexa settlements, fines, litigation.

Did you know that Lilly made $ billions last year on diabetic meds, Actos,Humulin and Byetta?

Yes! They sell a drug that can cause diabetes and then turn a profit on the drugs that treat the condition that they may have caused in the first place!

Of course the private attorneys get paid FIRST.
Hypocrite! | 2:08 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
How hypocritical of Shurtleff to sue a drug company that is FDA controlled when he is a spokeshole for USANA which is not controlled by FDA and is probably doing worse things to patients than anything the drug companies are producing.

The Attorney General's office is right to sue drug companies that are harming Utahns. Some of these drugs do horrible things to people.
When the drug has a side effect of causing diabetes for heaven sakes. Imagine a drug induced diabetic coma in a patient who had never been diagnosed with diabetes before taking the drug.
There are less harmful drugs available.

I was prescribed the drug. I gained about 50 pounds and fear diabetes. Now that I am off the drug the weight has dropped. There were reports recently that children placed on the drug gained 1 to 1.5 pounds per week. The Dr's never told me of the weight gain - only that I should watch my diet and exercise more. It used to be that I just did whatever the Psychiatrist told me to do, but this is the 2nd drug I have been prescribed (Nuerontin - off label) that has ended in a large settlement to Utah. I am older, have long term mental problems and am on Medicaid/ Medicare. AARP suggests that we don't take drugs that have not been on the market for over 7 years. I now heed that and only take generics. The local community mental health centers PUSH these new drugs on patients and I am sick of it! The Zyprexa that they insisted I needed cost about $680. per month. Do these state Psychiatrists get a kickback or vacations to prescribe? Must stop! Why not reimburse the patients who were harmed?

In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of CONSPIRING men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation–

In 1833 there was no multi-Billion $$$ Pharmaceutical Industry.

Today;
It goes way beyond just coffee, tea and tobacco.

Question, it seems several large settlements have gone to states recently. While it sounds noble to protect Utahns, who is advocating for the real injured parties like Crazy Old Lady? The state utilized 1,769 Medicaid patient records. Are the injured parties given any of this money, or at least legal advice? Or is it up to them to learn that they need to organize a class action or individual lawsuit. These are questions in need of answer. Lets hope the AG is advocating for Crazy Old Lady and other injured Utahns and not just attempting to raise funds via lawsuits.

I want to know why it is "going to the children"
Should it not be going back into the mental health system? These issues affect people of all ages, not just children...

As for Zyprexa... Japan did a similar move regarding the drug a few years ago.

Zyprexa is also called Olanzapine and is an ingredient in many drugs...

Other drugs like Zyprexa Zydis, Zalasta, Zolafren, Olzapin, Rexapin, and Symbyax.

How many people are being placed on their other medicine for the rest of their lives because of this? Medicines coincidentally that they will have to purchase from Lilly pharmacuetical.

How can we trust any other medicine that Lilly makes including vaccinations?

That Eli Lilly board must be an honest ethical group, lets see who....

Prominent Lilly board members have included:

Kenneth Lay, former CEO, Enron (See Enron Corporate Scandal.

George H. W. Bush, former President and Vice
President of the United States of America.

Mitch Daniels, current governor of Indiana, former Hudson Institute executive, and former director of Office of Management and Budget for President George W. Bush (How many billions in deficit did he do).

Michael Johns, former White House speechwriter and
Heritage Foundation policy analyst.

Ernesto Bustamante, Peruvian scientist.

Richard DiMarchi, Chief Scientific Officer, Marcadia Biotech.

Roald Hoffmann, Nobel Prize-winning chemist.

Claude H. Nash, CEO, ViroPharma.

Peter Nicholas, co-founder of Boston Scientific.

Randall L. Tobias, former United States director of Foreign Assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), with the rank of ambassador.

Thanks "Concerned Advocate". I should mention that since I fight the State Psychiatrist at every visit (yesterday he wanted to add Abilify and some new G word drug, Geodon?). I told him I am happy with my Psych Drug regimine that costs the state $35. for tshe Zyprexa replacement and $4. generic antidepressent. The Zyprexa had a monthly cost alone of $680 a month! These state Psychiatrists need to have a Pharmacy 101 class on drug costs! How many patients are set up for life long health problems because their Pharacist wants to use them as guinea pigs for the latest and greatest drugs? By the way, my family says I seem very stable for the last 2 years I've been on my $40 or less plan. When I was on expensive drugs I had so many side effects and the Psychiatrists answer was always to increase the dosage! Thus earning the Pharmacy company more $$$$. Concerned Advocate - I'm not the suing type, I wouldn't know where to even begin.

State psychiatrist's in Utah get gifts and special invitations to promote and advance their careers from the Big Pharmaceutical companies. I personally know of one doctor that I shall not name (out of keeping my own integrity) but I will tell you that they take advantage of those on Medicaid. All you need do is spend a few hours in the waiting room of any of the public mental health care clinics and watch when the reps arrive.

The new enemies now are Risperdal (manufactured by Janseen Pharmaceuticals, a Johnson and Johnson company) and Serequel (from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals).

Neuroleptics are the most dangerous drugs ever made. Nobody needs these drugs except in very, very rare instances, and even then for only a brief period of time. Their are safer and cheeper alternatives.

These drugs are born out of a pure greed for profit - not out of the interest in the welfare of helping others. Pure evil.

Sincerely yours, a psychiatric survivor with Diabetes and Tardive Dyskenesia..

I would never support any group to abolish drugs such as antibiotics or aspirin. But Ely Lily has reveled a true criminal drug manufacturing agency. Look at Pfizer! Holy smokes have they done wrong. I say abandon these drug companies, fine them accordingly and make them compensate. They need to be closed. On the other hand if our politicians were to be real followers of the bare-bones constitution they would steal all of their money. Stealing from the enemies of our constitution would be to me a great idea. But politicians would rather steal from honest working people.

Ely Lily be gone! Side effects, untold lies, ect ect.

People keep asking who is advocating for the individuals who are hurt by drugs like this- and I'd like to point out that that's a question that can be answered. Lots of injury law firms take those cases. It just happens that the lawsuits on behalf of groups like Medicaid or insurance companies are separate from the lawsuits brought by patients.
