texas players | 9:33 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
these guys have proven to be excellent players. it surprises me that other schools did not try and keep them home. i guess it does show how much talent is down there. also, that our players and team are getting ready to play a tough tcu team that they have already seen before. it will be a barn burner, but dont count out the utes. its these types of games that they thrive on.

go UTES

Hopefully our Texas players will rise to the occasion, and play well! We're goona need any and all the motivation we can muster to come away from TCU with a win!
Go Utes!

Utah's Problem: | 9:55 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Couldn't agree more with KW's philosophy. The more talent from a Texas a team lands, the better they are. The only problem is that about 99% of TCU's roster hails from the lone star state, which automatically makes them a superior team- no questions asked. BYU only has 3 players from Texas on its entire roster, which makes them inferior to Utah, and even more inferior to TCU.
Did anybody see the Bingham Trinity game? Bingham is arguably the best 5A team in Utah. Trinity was VERY lucky to make the playoffs in their district, with a team comprised mainly of Juniors and Sophomores. The outcome? Trinity Physically dominated Bingham the entire game. It is simple logic, my fellow Utahns.

Dear "Rollover Utes", when Utah wins and defeats the remaining teams on their schedule San Diego State and byu, the Utes will be 11-1 with two top 20 wins, and will be in the top 12 of the BCS rankings. If Boise and Houston lose, Utah does have a shot to get into a BCS game.....don't ever count out the Utes. A MWC conference BCS team this year will still be a possibility when the Utes pull out yet another BIG win.
To "Roll over Utes" | 12:23 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
If TCU is going to make it to the BCS, I want them to have a good showing to represent the MWC. This means they need to be TESTED by the Utes with the utes giving them EVERYTHING they've got.

Rolling over would not help TCU or the MWC as was shown a couple years ago with Hawaii beating an "unmotivated(?)" Boise State then getting smashed in the BCS by Georgia.

Utah will come at TCU with everything the've got and I am cheering for the Utes all the way. If TCU prevails and goes on to a BCS, so be it, but I will feel better about their bowl chances if they pass this test.

That's why I would be worried as a Boise Fan going into a BCS game. If you beat one top 15 team in early september (Oregon), and then a bunch of average to poor teams since, how would you really know where your team was at 4 months later for the BCS game.

Can't wait for this game, don't count out the Utes!

It's nice that you think that people in Texas are somehow superior to the rest of civilization. Think whatever you want, it does not make it reality.

Don't know bout all that "Texas" stuff, but I'm here to tell you people, that the CALIFORNIA KID is goin to shine like the California sun in Texas come Saturday. And believe me when I say" he is not scared, he has that CALI SWAGG goin. I would explain it to you,but I ain't got all nite..most all the Football greats are from the state of California..

Re: Re: Re: Utah's Problem | 1:2 | 6:03 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
What a dumb comment. Clearly you have never been introduced to football in Texas...football itself is an institution. Training and motivation through high school is rivaled only by California.

It's interesting to me that you can read this article on football and come away with the notion that "people in Texas are somehow superior to the rest of civilization." This isn't a sociology issue. We are not talking about the character or intelligence level of a state, we are talking about football. Get it?

Besides, the entire world knows that nobody is better (character, etc.) than the people in Utah County. Should anyone forget, you folks are always on hand to remind them.
Yeah right.... | 6:33 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I'm not a recruiter or anything but i think the best talent is from Texas, Florida, And then California.. California has good players but if you see how many players are ESPN Top 150 prospect most of them are from Texas. California has a lot of good players from there but if I was a recruiter I would try to recruit as many people I could from Texas those boys just got skills..
re: Anonymous @ 3:42 | 8:02 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Why would the Utes need or even want a chane (spelled c-h-a-i-n) in the first place?
gonna be | 8:06 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
a great game. I love my utes, but if TCU wins they will probably get a chance for a big big big bowl. Just don't know who I should support.

Utes may lose this one but it won't be by 31 points.

High School Football in Texas is not a sport. It's a religion down there. If you don't believe it go to a Texas high school football game. Any game.
sorry utes... | 9:02 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
but TCU's defense will score more than your offense. I admire the Utes improving program and the two great seasons they've had this decade, but having a completely inexperienced freshman QB against TCU the way they are playing right now = 2 fumbles and 3 picks, and at least 24 points for TCU off turnovers. Utah's offense, even if it is clicking, couldn't score more than 17 points on TCU. TCU 41, Utah 10 (with the lone TD coming in the last four minutes of the fourth quarter).
Dear Laughing | 9:06 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Your hoping the utes get blown out because misery likes company.... some how the utes losing will make your loss to tcu less painful...

by the way you were probably saying utah didn't have a chance against alabama last year too, and look what happened.

Go Utes... win or lose, the Utes will show up and TCU will know they have been in a game...
Re: Laughing | 9:08 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
The only thing you should be laughing at the pathetic hopes of BYU every year to make a BCS game and actually beat a tough team. You can laugh at Ute fans who think that maybe Utah will pull it out, but what the rest of college football is laughing at is the poor dillusional cewgs.
to Anonymous | 9:09 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Do the Utes need a 'chane' to help them win? What good will a chane do? Learn how to spell Coug fan.
MWC Fan | 9:12 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Utah beating TCU does nothing for the MWC. Especially if Utah somehow beats TCU then stumbles at BYU. Utes Beating TCU is good for the Utes, bad for the conference.

Now if BYU beats Utah after Utah loses to TCU - again it will mean nothing for the MWC, but will only be for bragging rights.

Head to Head:
Utah had all they could handle with Wyoming at home. Utes were behind until the last couple of minutes in the 4th quarter. Wyoming was very much in the game. And it was at Utah. Then BYU goes into Laramie and completely DECIMATES that same Wyoming team 52-0 AT WYOMING the very next week. Anyone else out there worried about the Utes chances after that head to head example?

So if this is any indication about how Utah will stack up to a TCU that KILLED BYU... hmmmm.

What is wrong with you people! College players from Texas are no better than the players from any other state. There is no genetic enhancment or superior athletic ability.
The only differance is there's *more* athletes die to the states size and population. If you think Texas born college players are better than everyone else then my friend stop believing the hype. I'm sick of people thinking Texas is gosh darn mount Olympus filled with godlike super-human football monsters.
Texas Football Fan | 9:31 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I have lived in California, Utah and currently in Texas. Football is a religion here. Where else do the schools close early because the High School team has a playoff game. Business' close up. Also the best time to do your grocery shopping, go out to eat or to the show is on a Friday night when there is an away game. Just so you know, in Texas they start training the kids for football at age 4 and the stands are full for these peewee games. Having said all of that...GO UTES...have a great game.
Utah Athletes... | 10:02 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
There are outstanding players that live in Utah and grew up here that go on and play elsewhere other than in State like at BYU, Utah, Utah State... This state has exceptional athletes but nobody big recruits them, I think that most of the Athletes for Utah and BYU that come out of Utah are big name players... Texas, California, Florida have alot more kids to look at but our State needs to be taken more seriously as far as Recruiting... Just my $.02

My son made a trip from Texas to Utah for recruiting purposes. He is one of the top high school players in the country at his position. Both BYU and Utah turned him away. They were very arrogant. He said that they could offer him the world now and he wouldn't go.

Texas High Schoool Football | 10:43 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
My boys play on one of the top teams in Texas. At our regular season games we will bring 6000 to 7000 fans to a game and depending on who we are playing they may bring as many. A lot of times the stands will fill just to watch our team. During playoffs it is not unusual to have 20,000 to 30,000 at a game.
San Bernadino | 10:51 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
BYU is soooo much better than Utah and TCU beat BYU. They will destroy Utah. Just because Utah got lucky a few times, TCU (missed field goals), Oregon and Alabama (didn't even want to play) doesn't mean it'll happen again. In fact, TCU wants this so much that they'll likely win by 40. Take the points and pick TCU.

Go Cougars!
Didn't I call it | 11:01 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009

Welcome to Texas UTE'S fan, i find it funny the going on between the byu fans and the utes fan. What i do not understand is, why is the utes fan so worked up over this game?, i mean you just barely won all your games and if you did beat anyone by alot it was because that team was not very good (NEW MEXICO). Yeah we killed byu, but we are saving our best game of the year for U. Bring your best game because you will need it, and when you leave TEXAS please do so in a orderly manner. GO FROGS
Hawai'i | 11:14 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I want to know why Utah stopped recruiting so heavily in Hawaii. They were one of the first teams outside of that state to tap into that talent. Remember the "Polynesian Pipeline"?
Anonymous | 11:24 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
They also said the Utes had no chance to beat Alabama last January...and most Ute fans believed that. This is why the BCS is moronic, you've got to play the games, anything can happen.
no chance | 11:26 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I've watched every Utah game this season, and its obvious TCU will walk over Utah.

The way Utah has played this season, they wont be able to compete with TCU.
I agree | 11:26 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Having lived in Utah and other areas, and having lived in Texas I agree with the idea that Texas football is at a much higher level. Our son has played against teams such as Permian, which look and act like college teams. The stadiums hold up to 20,000 and the large hi-def screens for replays are outstanding. It so important to Texans, that even in small towns, schools have 6-man teams that play weekly. Great state for football!

BYU fans, seriously! | 11:59 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I read these threads after TCU killed you in Provo, Ute fans were not talking smack. How soon you forget the way you've been embarrassed on your own field... twice!

And TCU is not going to kill Utah. This is going to be a close game. Utah can win it. And if they do, what are all you Zoobs and Frogs going to say then? You'll look foolish, but will not get on here and own what you said pre-game.

I agree with Hawaii about the Polynesian Pipeline. Maybe we should work that a little more, but I like what we've done with Texas recruits.
Hey Hawai'i | 12:06 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I don't think Utah cut down recruiting in Hawaii, but more teams discoverd the talent over in the islands. Maybe Kalani Sitake will rejuvinate the recruiting program in the state. I hope so.

TEXcougar | 12:24 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Football in Utah is a pasttime. Football in Texas is a passion; a religion. TCU wins. High school football in Texas is everything. Don't believe me, try to get tickets and join the other 12,000 to 15,000 fans who watch 5A football every week at any given stadium.

TCU wins, especially at home.

Why should we recruit polynesian kids from Hawaii when we can get them from our own state, have you been watching any of the high school games. Cottonwood,Hunter,Highland and so on, these kids deserve a chance to show what they have. The Polynesian Pipeline has been shut off, recruit in state. GO BYU,
The only difference. | 12:41 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
The only real difference is dedication!! In Texas, Florida, and California start playing football (on a large scale) at the age of 5!!! It goes a long way!! Utah has some dedicated players and parents, but quite frankly that # gets represented. Prime example.... I started playing takle football at age 14, and I got good enough to get some offers (including both YBU and Utah), but had an accident that ended my football career before I got to start it. I was 14!!!! Not 5!!! If you do something your entire life, not just 4 years, you are going to have some advanteges. It's not genetic, it's a learned behavior, and if more people in our state were willing to dedicate the time we would end up with more "Top notch" recruits. Instead we have naturally gifted athletes that get coached into great players (the Dysons, Zane Taylor, etc...) As much as I hate to do this, YBU has players who are trained up to....
AZ BYU and U Grad | 12:47 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
It is in the best interests of the conference that the Utes lose. Boise St will not lose another game. If TCU wins the conference will get more exposure and more respect if TCU shows well in the BCS game.
Tenn Fan. | 1:06 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
In the South anywhere they play football all the time. And they start very young ,as soon they can walk. The South is the football capital of the world and utah will die there. I can promise that. They got lucky last year when they beat TCU. And by the way TENN is the best!!!!!!!
Polynesian Players | 1:13 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I think recruiting players in Hawai'i was about getting talent from a deep pool, not about getting players of a certain background. Hawai'i has some great high school programs that are nationally ranked. Certainly many local players have had the chance to play at both the U and the Y of all backgrounds. when you are out recruiting you need to hit areas that have may great players. No one is going to send a coach on a week long trip to Rhose Island because they have one or two tlaneted kids.

Did you watch mighty TCU face that same Air Force team?

Why do Cougar fans throw out statements that just make themselves sound even dumber?

TCU escaped Air Force with a 3 point victory.

This game will be close, because unlike the kittens Utah plays defense!
