Comments about ‘Venerating the veterans’

As a Vietnam Veteran and regarding Veterans Day:

On behalf of the Republican Party of Florida, I am proud to honor the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our country.

As Americans across the country gather to celebrate Veterans Day, let us take a moment to remember the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the freedoms on which our country was built. We are deeply grateful to those individuals who have and continue to serve our nation. We thank them for their sacrifice and pray for their success and safe return.


God Bless "ALL" Veteran's, living and dead, they all, "paid the price", so America can be free. Honor all Veterans not only on this Day with a parade on Nov. 11, but all the other days of the year as well.

Why is it, that people that have never been in the military, get to have a day of on Veterans Day?
I did 20 years, Army Air Cav.and I'm at work!
Funny how that goes.

Thanks to all the armed forces especially to the Marines which I proudly say I am one of the never ending brotherhoods of the marines. Once a Marine always a Marine and still after 20 years I will always be a Marine to my death. The values I learned and the people I served with I will never forget. I have had the privelidge of meeting several highly decorated hereos of WWII. I got to shake their hands and tell them how proud I am to meet someone who was willing to die so that I might be free. I also met many Vietnam veterans and actually got to serve along side of them. I hope the younger generation never has to go through what so many great americans had to. To protect freedom. When I was overseas just a few words or jestures from home made a huge difference and helped to put things in prospective and made me aware that I was protecting my loved ones and that there is no higher calling. Please take the time to shake a veterans hand and tell them you care. That's all they want. SEMPER FIDELIS, ALWAYS FAITHFUL.

This was once called Armistice Day. Why are we now celebrating participants in war instead of celebrating the end of war? I'm a veteran, by the way, but I'd rather see us celebrating the end of war rather than making heroes out of those of us who make war possible.

I would like to take a moment and thank all of our veterans for their service. My father-in-law served in the Army, and both my father and grandfather spent many years providing prosthetic services for veterans. Today is also my wedding anniversary and I feel very honored to share it with the veterans. I suppose you could say that through the years, my husband and I have a much greater appreciation for the sacrifices that our military men and women give for the good of our country. May God bless our armed services in their endeavors.

Please, honor and support our veterans. They deserve no less.

Please help to support them becoming citizens again, adapting to disabilities, or send a letter to one overseas.

And remember, the lucky ones come back at all.

To all you veterans, I give you my heartfelt thanks. My father served in the Navy for 32 years and I am extremely proud of him. May we never forget the scarifice of our veterans and those currently serving in all branches of the military. God bless all of you.
