can run the team but his floater is a problem and he get's posted. Rondo will be very difficult for him. A combo of Brewer and Mathews is a thought. Or a combination of AK and 2 guards bringing the ball up.
Park DWill in a whirlpool for a day and then let him dry out for 1/2 a day before the game. Maybe the Jazz play zone against the Celts?
even better . no d-will on my fantasy team wednesday ?
Please no. Please no!!!!!!!! Have you seen that guy try to dribble? Every time he tries to put the ball on the floor I ask myself how a shooting guard in could survive in the NBA with zero ball-handling skills. We'd be better with Okur bringing the ball down the court.
I told you so. That's what you get when you play a heavier set point guard 40+ minutes a night, One who handles the rock as often as D will does.
I was at the playoff game against Golden State a couple of years ago when Derek Fisher was flying back from NY from a doctor visit for his little daughter who has eye cancer. Memo accidently fell on Ronnie Price in the lane and Deron was in foul trouble and so Andrei ran the point. Probably the most thrilling game I have ever attended...but who will come flying in to the rescue tonight if need be? We will see...
Ronnie Price wasn't on the team when the Jazz played the Warriors in 2007. You are thinking of Dee Brown, Okur fell on him NOT Ronnie Price.
How come all the FANS cut DWILL slack about not playing or playing good, but Boozer is attacked relentlessly.
Trade DWILL to the Hornets FOR CP3. They can also have Korver.
I wish Sloan would let Maynor play more and even make mistakes without yanking him. You can tell that he is scared to make a mistake when he plays, which is not the way we need to groom a rookie.
Matthews has gained confidence and is playing better and better. I think there is something to be said for letting a rookie play through mistakes. I hope Sloan realizes that this is as good a time as any for Maynor to get more and more minutes while Price is out and Dwill can't go 48 or even 35.
Did you boo Derek Fisher when he came back the next year?
(Also you mean Dee Brown, not Ronnie Price.)
more like a lottery team and the FO can blame themselves. They have a bunch of role players who have severe deficiencies. Brewer can't shoot, Price was never a PG (out), Maynor is a rookie who may be okay later but is needed now. Even when healthy Korver has problems on defense, and CJ is erratic at best.
The Jazz have struggled ever since they lost Fish as back up PG. They tried to replace him on the cheap and it has cost this team dearly. Fish could shoot and play with DWill and replace DWill.
Sloan KNOWS that PG is the most important position in his scheme. He also knows DWill gets injured partly because of the excessive minutes he plays.
The Jazz approach to players is bizarre. Instead of getting the players they need they get projects and try to develop them.
It is an insane approach especially given the salary level.
The problem is not Boozer it is the FO/Sloan and the approach to getting and trading players.
If Millsap/Harp is not going to play then trade one for a decent PG who can shoot. Price can also go. Get shooting wings.
If Stockton were injured with the same injuries as DWill, we wouldn't even know it. Stockton would play. DWill, I love you man, but man up and play. No excuses if Rondo burns you. Just Play. Be like Stockton.
We have always heard a lot of criticism on here about the Jazz carrying three point guards. I guess this answers those questions. Maybe three is not enough.
Because Williams never said that he wanted out of Utah. I think Jazz fans understand that SLC does not top the list of places that NBA players want to be, and we appreciate the loyalty.
D-Will is better than Chris Paul, sure CP3 gets more points, but when Deron doesn't score a lot of points, he gives out career high assists, and d-will is a better player than boozer, boozer just tries to hard, he needs to stop crying about not getting traded and play basketball. So do all of the Jazz, they need to play basketball like a team, play solid defense and offense, CP3 won't fix that, if we wanted CP3 we would have drafted him, no D-Will, he is the best PG in the NBA, and he is on the jazz so support him
Brewer? You are correct - that is actually Brewer biggest weakness - not his shooting. Guards have to be able to drive to the rim and Brewer can't do that.
Cowboy Joe.
Williams is helping the Jazz win and Boozer is not this season. The Jazz for a season has a -13 +/-. Hence the record. When Williams is on the court the Jazz have out scored their opponents by +14 points. In the 54 minutes Williams has been off the court the Jazz have been outscored by -27 points.
Boozer is complete opposite -21 when on the court and + 8 when off the court. It is Boozer defense.
Like last year AK has the strongest +/- differential
Boozer defense is one of the worst in the entire NBA - I am not saying he is not trying, but he is not a good defensive player. For 5 years Jazz have been allowing less points per 100 possession when Boozer is on the bench than when he is on the floor.
Millsap is complete opposite: For 4 years when he is on the court the Jazz are allowing less points per 100 possession than when he is off the court.
Isn't it great that we are paying the luxury tax for this team! Smart move, Jazz ownership! Pay an excessive amount to return a team that finished eighth in the Western Conference last year.
Injuries to Williams and Boozer are a testament to the longevity and toughness of Stockton and Malone.
Just play Maynor. See what the rookie can do. It is a long season and Deron should sit this one out. The chances of us winning on the road, even with Deron, is about 20%. No reason to risk more injury with those odds. Boston doesn't lose many games at home.
and is worse than Boozer on offense against a zone. Boozer started slow but his plus/minus the last few games is about even. His offense improved. His defense, well Carlos was recruited for offense. That is about all you are going to get.
The Jazz need to make changes at PF. Instead they over paid Millsap who can't grow 5 inches.
They need shooting wings. Instead they have specialists with weaknesses that can be attacked.
They have needed a decent back up PG for years. Instead they overpaid Price. Maynor may or may not develop into a good PG. He can't take it to the rim and gets posted up by bigger players (Evans). He is not fast enought to run with Lawson/Brooks.
At the moment he is a generalist with serious weaknesses. However he is also a rookie who will get better. He will not get much bigger, stronger or quicker.
Why can't the Jazz make the changes they KNOW they need to make? Why does it take them years to make moves SA or LA would make during a season.
There is a serious problem in the FO/coaching concerning trades.
No. I did not boo Derek Fisher. I was unhappy that he left the way he did but appreciated the leadership he brought when he was here.
No, I didn't boo Derek Fisher. I didn't appreciate the fact that he left but did appreciate the leadership he brought to the team while he was here.
Also, thanks for the reminder about Dee Brown. Once you hit 50 the memory for details goes but the excitement of that game will stay with me for a very long time.
