thank you for the very good counsel.

too bad

his kid ain't governor no more (wish the crazy Herbert would go away).

BYU English Major

He should not be allowed to speak at our school because of his financial support for the University of Utah.

Blessed

There are a special few, who will allow the extremely valuable words of this great man, influence and even shape the direction of their lives. And they will have a positive impact on the world.

Lee from Logan

There is something to be learned from everyone. I appreciate his attitude and hope I can remember some of the things he shared in my growing. Thank you for sharing this.

Sound Advice

Clear, direct, and encouraging. I appreciate his words, especially during this point of the semester between midterms and finals. Words to help move along and keep me focused on why I'm here.

Oh, and BYU English Major...you DO know that Brigham Young founded the University of Utah (The University of Deseret). Since he obviously supported the U, does that mean that you wouldn't let him speak at the Y either? And don't forget that both Hinckley and Monson graduated from there...LOL ;)

RE; Sound advice

This is the central Mormons message of works. "God helps those who help themselves", or," for we know know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do."

Elder Oaks once said to me, "There are a lot of kooks in this Church." Once again, after reviewing some of these comments (BYU English Major), I am convinced he is proven correct.

OK advice, but . . .

God also helps those who don't help themselves. "He sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust" (Matthew 5:45). Of course people should work hard and avoid wasting time and all of that, but it would be a serious mistake to believe that worldly success was correlated the depth of one's relation to God.

What wise and wonderful counsel! We would all do well to listen and heed these words. I don' t know how anyone could find anything to disagree with in Elder Huntsman's address. I am a convert to the church and am so grateful for inspired teachings such as these. We all need to humble ourselves and remain teachable and listen to inspired counsel in order to avoid the pitfalls of the times in which we live.

There is a building on the U of Penn campus named for Jon Huntsman. He has also given considerably to BYU...He walks the talk..

BYU student

Fantastic speech. Great man and a great legacy. What an honor to hear from him and receive advice and council.

I love the false claim that Jon Huntsman is a "self-made man"! Ha! What a joke! Makes for a good story, but it is FICTION!

Digbads

Anonymous... are you joking or just horribly uninformed?
Also, BYU North (that school in Salt Lake that was founded by Brigham Young) is the 2nd most awesome Mormon school in Utah.

Spike

Jon Huntsman has donated as much to BYU & U. of Penn and he has to the U. He isn't the type of man who needs to be recognized for his donations. He is a great example of a wise steward in magnifying his talents and then sharing them with others.
