I don't mind a bit if a post office is named after a former US Solicitor General BUT when Chaffetz says "The memory of Rex E. Lee will forever be associated with BYU..." then it's obvious he was pandering to the LDS.

What happened to the First Amendment? Isn't this another step towards the establishment of an official religion by Congress?

Shame. And shame on President Obama, who will sign this.

Since when is naming a post office establishing an official religion?

Um, Ok with me. Rex E. Lee was a fine man.

According to the first comment above, one cannot utter the word "forever" within the same sentence as "BYU" (or anything else associated with Utah's predominant religion) without "pandering to the LDS" and (if the speaker is the government) violating the establishment clause. I don't know whether to call such reasoning the product of (a) bigotry, (b) paranoid fantasy, or (c) both.

It's reallllly difficult to think of Ernest Wilkinson, Dallin Oaks, Jeffrey Holland, Merrill Bateman, Karl Maeser, Franklin Harris, or Cecil Samuelson without thinking of BYU.
How offensive!
I think we ought to ban thinking; it might become a state religion....

Who cares what it is named. How manny letters does the average person mail these days anyway?

Rex Lee was one of the finest men I have ever know. The post office renaming is a great tribute but his real legacy is his family and they great things they have done and are doing. They are truly his legacy.

I'm a Democrat, but an enormous fan of Rex Lee. This action is a no-brainer.

My, my, my. You are easily offended. Rex Lee was president of BYU and locals who use the post office remember him as such. Political correctness on steroids has fogged you judgment.

Offensive, I'm questioning your higher brain function. Rex Lee was a great man. It's not violation of the First Amendment to name a Post Office after him. Your comments are a greater offense to the First Amendment.

Rex was great. Perhaps in 20 years we will see about Mike.
