I don't see any non-conf wins for BYU or UT against teams with winning records. Overall the MWC looks as weak as the WAC with the exception that it has 3 top 25 teams instead one. We don't see any upsets in the MWC like we do in the BCS conferences because the level of competition drops off dramatically.

It's interesting that the average score for Utah and BYU against common opponents is Utah: 29-15 while BYU's is 47-16. Whether that means anything is probably speculation.

interesting, BYU owns the point spread (and most other statistics) over common opponents with Utah. Hopefully that means something for end of November. probably know more after this weekend with TCU vs. Utah.

oklahoma has a winning record.

Last time a checked a 5-4 record was still a winning record, not sure though? 5>4 ??? Granted Oklahoma is not as good this year but I will take any win over Oklahoma period!!! Remember the point spread was over 21 points and no one gave BYU a chance in that game. That is still a good win on the road in hostile environment over a team that had played for the national championship the year before. This can still be a good year if we finish out with wins over Utah and a Bowl win.

What does utah have to look ahead too? A drilling in texas. All betting lines have TCU as 17.5 favorites, why?
Always been that way | 9:58 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
TDS always out scores Utah in common opponents, that is because they only play one way that is good enough to beat the weak teams and lose to the good ones. Utah plays to their level, barely beats the bad teams and usually beats the good teams too.
Fair comparison | 10:38 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Now to be fair, some of the common opponents were road games for Utah and home for BYU

If you add 3 points to each road team and subtract 3 points from each home team, it makes a more even comparison.

Lets see now it becomes:
BYU 47-16
Utah 29-15

Just a reminder:
BYU(H) 42 CSU 23
Utah(A)24 CSU 17

BYU(H) 35 USU 17
Utah(H)35 USU 17

BYU(A) 59 UNLV 21
Utah(A)35 UNLV 15

BYU(A) 52 WYO 0
Utah(H)22 WYO 10

TCU game will be very telling.

Hmmm... | 11:08 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Anybody ever think that the reason Oklahoma is having a bad season is because BYU broke them in their first game? I'm positive that if BYU had given up like alot of the BYU fans at that time then Oklahoma would be a BCS contender. BYU is the reason Oklahoma is going downhill.

I wonder what the excuse will be this year when Utah beats TCU. People forget that we are 3-1 against TCU since they joined the MWC. So what do people have to say about that? I'm so glad we are the underdog because the utes have never lost as underdogs on the national stage.

Too much emphasis in these comments about margin of victory. What matters most down the stretch is W's.

That's what Jacobson will be doing a lot of as he's running in for Touchdowns against Utah.
