I like the Utes if the following big if factors can take place. 1) The Ute offense forces the issue and plays to win (breaks the mold). 2) The Utes avoid turnovers (achilles heel). 3) The defense is prepared and mixes their usual winning ingredients (most likely of the three unless the offense turns the ball over and keeps the defense on the field to long).
The normally conservative Ute offense has to open it up with Wynn. They did last week, which resulted in season highs in all offensive categories. With TCU's defense, the young gunslinger needs to make good decisions, but the Utes have to open up the playbook and play aggressive nonetheless. Wynn is a gamble, but even at this stage in his young career, he gives the Utes the best shot at an upset.
2)Containing Dalton. TCU will get yardage on the ground, but what we can't do is let Dalton get out of the pocket and scramble. He doesn't look downfield to pass when he scrambles, but he's shifty enough to keep getting first downs. Our D-Tackles need to get a good push, but will have to be ready to break off the block and keep Dalton from running. Having Kruger start instead of Eliapo will help with his.
3)Fumbles. Cannot give away cheap fumbles on Saturday. Everyone has to secure the ball on first contact. I'd expect Wynn to throw an INT or even 2, but we can't give them short fields with fumbles.
Should be a close game, the line is ridiculous and Whit will have the team pissed come gametime.
Sorry, EWES, but you will not catch B.S. this year
TCU 48
Utah 10
Utah 7
You can take this to the bank.
The best thing for the demise of the BCS would be for TCU to be left out of the Championship in favor of a 1-loss team and a top-5 Boise State team to be left out of the BCS since they are only required to take one non-qual team (TCU). THAT would really raise the ire...and possibly bring major change to the current system.
None of that means anything if they lose to Utah, even if the U wins, there is no chance they will go to the BCS with one loss...so GO FROGS! It's the best thing for the conference and for the demise of the BCS system.
The New Mexico defense is near the bottom of national and conference rankings.
The TCU defense is ranked #1 in the nation.
Unless TCU completely falls apart like they did last year (how many short field goals did their kicker miss?) this will be an easy win for them.
The Utes are always supposed to 'lose big', against the good teams. But the UTES always put a 'whoopin' on the good teams that were supposedly going to just thump them.
Keep up the lopsided predictions in favor of tcu. It's better for the Utes.
Go UTES!!!!!!!
Is this the same Hughes that touched (and then lost his grip)BJ once last year?
You confuse the Utah with TDS, TCU owns TDS, we own TCU winning 5 of 6 games and the only one win they have is off a pick play.
Utah - 2 BCS trips
Boise - 1 BCS trip. Will be left out again this year by a MWC team.
Hawaii - 1 BCS trip
TCU - 1 likely BCS trip in January
BYU/Utah State/New Mexico/Wyoming/Nevada - 0 BCS trips
Just because he dominates BYU every year doesn't mean that translates to the Utah game. Just as it didn't last year.
But Dalton will be key. Must keep him in the pocket and give RoJo time to knock balls down.
As far as the cougar fan posing as a Boise State fan, very funny! Don't you know that this week Boise State fans are huge Utah fans? It's their only chance at a BCS game, duh.
32-7, 38-7.... your cougars can't beat TCU so you hope the Utes can't either! Sad that your only football pleasure is hoping for the Utes to lose.
Go Utes!
A U victory would not help move the cause forward. Go Frogs!
