Shameful | 10:13 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I for one, even as a Cougar fan, am disappointed to see the turn that New Mexico has taken for the worse. The were once a feared, formidable opponent in the conference under coach Rocky Long. The were a tough, hard nosed football team that ran the football well and played rock solid defense. In my opinion they had the best defense in the conference last year after TCU and Utah. They were on par with Air Force last year being in the upper echelon of the conference as a 4th place contender. The last time BYU played in Albuquerque the Cougars got a run for their money. Turnovers were the difference in that game.

It all started with the injury Donovan Porterie. New Mexico was a pretty solid team all around and after his injury they had a difficult time utilizing a decent passing game. They had a solid running game with Rodney Ferguson who I think was the best back in the conference at the time. The defense was still solid enough to keep them in games but they started failing to get it done.

Now they have no defense and look more like Tulane than anything.

I've dogged Jorgensen all season because he has underperformed so poorly-- particularly as a senior captain. However, KUDOS to him for his MWC Defensive Player of the Week honor. Let's hope such a strong performance becomes a weekly occurrence as the seson wraps up. Also, let's hope for a Y bowl invite to San Diego. We've missed the Cougs in San Diego!

Since zoobies infest the Ute post sites, I'll be the first to start here. You killed Wyoming and Utah didn't - oh well. You got killed by a bad ACC team and a good TCU team, at home of all places. Utah had a chance to beat Oregon at one of the toughest stadiums and they'll probably have a better chance than byU did to beat TCU. The U probably won't win, but at least they won't get embarrassed like you did at home. The only reason: athletic speed. You had a senior QB and still couldn't pull off a close defeat. Look at the bright side - Heaps (who has never played a collegiate game and loses to good teams outside of the state of Washington) will be there next season. 7-5, 9-3, 10-2, 9-3, Las Vegas Bowl here we come.

Hey Bronco let Unga and Jorgensen heal up this week so they can be at full strength for AFA and utah!! You're not going to need them against New Mexico. Is this something that is only obvious to fans and not to coaches for some inexplicable reason????

Aren't you the least bit worried that TCU is going to completely take you to the woodshed? I really would be concerned if I was a ute fan.

Don't worry, we're glad to head to the Las Vegas Bowl again, it's better than where you are headed.

So you are saying that you are football smarter then Bronco, Anae, and Hill?

New Mexico football has had a few years where they were reasonably okay in the late 90's-early 00's. Pat Forde says today on ESPN.com that New Mexico has never ever been ranked in the AP poll.

Agree with resting the injured. BYU doesn't need to do anything more than win this game.

I hope utah wins at tcu. That will make the victory at cougar stadium over the utes even sweeter. This tcu team is without a doubt the best all around team i have seen in the mountain west since the 04 utes. Personally i think they are better than the 04 utes. So my head says win utes. but my heart says they dont have much of a chance. TCU 27 UTAH 17. Utes have a good team but not good enough this time.

I don't hope Utah wins. As much as I would like to see BYU beating a higher ranked Ute team ... I dislike BSU more. So I hope Utah puts up a half decent fight so they can get back into the top 25 after a loss. But I would much rather see TCU in a BCS game than BSU.

I would like to see Utah beat TCU. I am a BYU fan and love the "big game". It is so much more exciting when there is something important on the line.
As much as Utah likes to think there new found muscle and status warrants a reasonable chance against TCU I'm afraid they too will fall. I believe that TCU is far the better team- if not the best Mountain West team in five years. Great defense and an emerging offense will beat a decent defense and a mediocre offense. Kudos to Utah, BYU and TCU for building the Mountain West.

New Mexico has really fallen on hard times. What a mess!
They've been to 5 bowl games in the last decade, now fallen to this mess.
It shows how quickly a bad coach can make a program fall apart.

New Mexico is the worst team in the nation. They even made a freshman QB with a super model body look good. BYU by 60.

Please tell us more about how you'll try really hard, but still lose. Then tell us how you should have beat BYU all those times you lost the close games. I love the logic of Ute fans. The "U" has a great program right now and I respect what Kyle has been able to do. The fans would be smart to follow their coaches example. As for BYU fans...we should probably do the exact opposite of what Bronco does now. I don't understand the words coming out of his mouth. I can't complain, because only a fool would be disappointed with where Bronco has taken this program after what Crowton did to BYU. I just wish Bronco would show some of that passion he had as the DC.
