Would love to hear about her parents. I think her father was soccer coach when I went to Cottonwood. Did that have influence on their family being so amazing at soccer?
Anonymous | 8:22 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Hey Anon, Ms. is short for Miss genius
Also, her dad was at Cottonwood and is a former Pan-Am medal winner in wrestling (gold I think)
Grammar naz | 8:23 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Anon, "Ms." is an ambigous title much like "Mr." It can be used to address all single, married, young, or old women.
Cottonwood teacher... | 8:59 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
There was a teacher at Cottonwood between 1995-1997 who had the same last name (Coach Ohai) that might be related to her.
Athletic family | 9:07 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Amazing group of athletes, NCAA All Americans, NCAA Champions, even Megan's boyfriend is one of the top rookies in the NFL.Then there is Kealia. When they are all together it looks like a scene from the 300.
Glad she played High School | 9:13 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
It seems more and more these days, the club coaches discourage players from playing High School ball. Love to hear Ohai say that High School brings something special, better memories than playing at the highest level with the U-17's.

Her dad was the wrestling coach at Cottonwood High School. He was on the 1980 US Olympic wrestling team, and missed out on winning a medal because that was the year the US boycotted. Congrats Cuz! Your Ohana is very proud of you.
High School | 10:07 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Every player should get the experiacne and joy of playing in high school, its the best time of your life. Club coaches that discourage high school play have no idea what they are asking a young person to do. If you saw the crowd at Rio Tinto and all the students that came out to support both teams that is a once in a lifetime memory. Now days with so many club players playing high school the competitive level has gone way up.
Opponents make the difference | 10:19 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
the quality of soccer in Utah has grown to a point where top players are being produced.Teams like Lone Peak, Brighton, Davis, Freemont, Alta, Bingham and other teams in other dividions have creatd a level of competition that has benifited players like Ohai. I have heard Kealia say she loves playing the really tough teams in the state, because it challenges her to be a better player.
Welcome to the Carolina family | 11:05 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
As a former Utahn and a current NC resident and UNC alum, welcome to the Tarheel family! Anson is a great coach and person (I've known him for years through UNC and our ward), and his teams know how to win games. We'll benefit from having a great competitor like you at UNC...and you will love your time out here in the Southern Part of Heaven!
Look forward to seeing you tear it up at Fetzer next fall!

Well DOne...Kealia. Well deserved, I enjoy watching her play, she is an awesome player that shines bright and is a great leader on the field.
Kealia's father | 11:26 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
is Ben Ohai, not sure if he ever coached soccer but he is arguably the greatest wrestler in BYU's history taking second in the NCAA championships in 1973. He was also the head wrestling coach at Cottonwood for many years and also at Spanish Fork.

I just want to say i have had the pleasure to coach Kealia. I so happy for her and very proud of her accomplishments. It is great to see her and her sister Megan do so well. Utah is getting more recognition for the well trained and dedicated players..
Tasha Long | 1:32 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Alta's goal keeper Tasha Long and Kealia played on the same club team together at the ripe old age of 9.. They have made a great combination on offense and defense through the years. It was only fitting that Thasha blocked the shot to win their last game together in high school.
Maren Ohai | 1:34 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Congratulations Kealia! We are all so proud of you!
Lynn  | 5:07 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Kealia is turly a remarkable player. Very pretty to. I love to watch her play. She has talent.
Coach LM | 7:57 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Coach Mitchell we all want to tell you how much we appreciate what you've done. You have made all of us proud of our school and our team. The Rio Tinto Alta/Davis game was the best soccer game I have ever seen. From the players to the students to the parents we thank you. If Alta would have lost the game, coach would have shown the same class towards Davis as he always has throughout the years. Legendary players led by a legendary coach.

UNC/sammy | 8:21 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
UNC is the only place for a player like Ohai. That's like asking a football player why they would go to Florida to play football except Florida only has 3 NCAA championships. UNC soccer has 20.
HOTT!!!!! | 11:12 a.m. Nov. 12, 2009
I'm thinking about becoming a soccer fan. Pour some sugar on me.
A Fan | 1:20 p.m. Nov. 12, 2009
Kealia is amazing to watch. She reads the plays and schools the player. I hear she likes to cook. Bet that is great for Mom and Dad. Way to go Kealia....so many people admire you and your talent for playing soccer. Make Utah Proud while attending UNC, and I'm sure to your professional career as a soccer player, which if you haven't you should consider. Utah Loves you Kealia.

what a joke.
soccer fan | 1:37 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
I went to the Alta - Davis game and the MVP of that game was from the Davis defender no doubt. She shut this Kealia down to the point where she couldn't do any thing. I know this Kealia has all the talent in the world but not that game. I think the defender for Davis did an exceptional job at keeping this girl from scoring and there was no credit to her and the whole defensive line from Davis. Too bad there wasn't any credit to the Davis team who could of won that game just as easy as Alta, the luck just is never there for them. Congradulations to Kealia for her scholarship to NC what an accomplishment.
