Great performances by both. It was great to see Jorgensen get in there and cause of chaos.
Hall | 1:23 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Congrats to both players. Particularly to Hall. At the first sign of trouble (all players make errors), the fair weather fans want to throw him out. He is a very good QB (ranked 2nd in nation this week) and a fine young man. Many want to blame him for the 2 losses. He played a part (esp. FSU), but they were team losses against better teams. I can't imagine very many other QBs doing any better.

Maxx good job! You have proven to be amazing VS terrible teams this yr!

hey wow, is that all you can run with today? No funny spelling of the cougars name or childish comments about max throwing interceptions? Are you ute fans running on empty of the fourth grade be-littling of max and co.?

TCU, that is what you should be worried about. They are going to dismantle the utes. This team isnt like your two BCS teams. Pittsburgh is the worst team EVER invited to a BCS bowl and the great Alabama team you beat could have cared less to even have been there. One week earlier they were playing for chance to go to the National Championship game and lost. So what did the BCS do for that? They stuck them with the wanna be non-BCS team that they had to let in. So was Alabama really supposed to get up for the utes? I dont think so. TCU on the other hand is for real and is for really going to DRILL your pathetic offense, which will force the freshman to push his limits and make him throw many interceptions. After this beat down, well then your going to see just how good Max and his boys are. . .
Crystal Ball | 2:32 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Kyle Whittingham was ripped off!!!

How can Whit be snubbed by the MWC offices? Clearly, his decision to not announce who his starting QB would be before Saturday's kickoff was the single greatest genius coaching move in the entire NCAA, let alone the MWC. It literally proved to be the difference in Saturday's win over New Mexico, since the Lobos had to prepare all week for both starting QB prospects.

Whit should have been awarded offensive player of the week instead of Max Hall. He certainly deserves it.

What will he do for an encore? Not announce the full cheerleading travel squad before the first pompon is raised at TCU on Saturday?

So awesome and so good looking.
Way to beat up on Wyo | 2:51 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
While Utah struggled to pull out a win against Wyoming while playing in Rice-Eccles stadium, Hall and Jorgensen led a whipping of the Cowboys on their home turf. I'd say they both deserve the honors.
Rightfully Deserved | 3:50 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009

Yeah.
Maxi needs Wyoming to look good.
BYU needs Wyoming to relieve some pressure for Bronco.

Way to go!!!

Congrats Cougs but who is ranked higher utah or byu??? I bet all the Cougs fans are TCU fans now they realize the Cougs are worthless but Utah owns the series with TCU as well ha ha
re: Wow! | 4:45 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
You ought to actually look at the facts before spouting off.

Max was good against OU and OU is not a terrible team. Maybe not so good now without Bradford, but average team at worst.

Against FSU he went 20-for-31 for 306 yards and two touchdowns. True, he had 3 int's, but a couple of those weren't his fault and the other occurred out of desperation at the end - trying to make something happen.

Against TCU, he had 161 yards, completing 18-of-28 passes and one TD. Not great, but show me a QB that doesn't have an off game against a great defense - especially with the speed of TCU dbacks (give them some credit).
Any bets that the U fans... | 4:50 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
who insist that comparable scores against common opponents are no measure of a team (22-10 vs 52-0)will shut their mouths if Utah happens to lose by fewer than 31 points to the Horned Frogs?
Future Clear | 5:08 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Re: Crystal Ball 2:32:

I think you're missing Crystal Ball's sarcasm. It's Whittingham, after all, who has refused to announce his starting QB -- coincidentally -- before the two worst teams on Utah's schedule. Does he really need to resort to such "trick-eration" tactics against the likes of Utah State and New Mexico? I'm sorry, but if you are a Top 25 program (I realize there is some debate whether Utah will be by the end of this season) then the answer should be a resounding NOOOOOOOOO! Especially when everyone knew it was Cain to open and that it would be Wynn vs. N.M. It's simply ridiculous.

Whittingham can erect a wall of secrecy around the Utes' practice habits and not name his starting QB -- so why would he name yell leaders before his time?

You go, Crystal Ball!
No big deal | 5:11 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
who cares about BYU football anymore? I mean the team gets killed by any team of substance and then beats up on the losers like Wyo , CSU etc... Who cares if you throw for 500 yards and get 20 sacks against Wyoming? TCU would have mattered or Florida State but since they are ranked teams BYU can't play with them. Bronco is content win 8 or 9 games a year and go to a no-name bowl. Gee, how exciting. NOT!
Really don't care anymore | 5:16 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I really don't care anymore about BYU football under Bronco Mendenhaul. The team is mediocre at best and can only beat other teams with losing records. No excitement anymore with the program ...which is a direction reflection on Bronco and his pathetic priorities ... like winning is #4 on the priority list. With priorities like that is it any wonder the program is where it is today? Maybe the BYU administration will also be content with about 35000 fans per game as well. I mean if we are settling for mediocrity might as well expect the fans to do the same.
Big number - bad opponent | 5:23 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
big numbers really don't matter against terrible teams. Nobody really cares. Now had Max or Jan had a big day against FSU or TCU then I am impressed but not against Wyo or New Mex or CSU. Max has proven to be a very average college QB with no NFL future and Jorgensen is worthless against teams with top 20 athletes. So, I guess when Bronco decides to recruit players that can compete against ranked teams I will start paying more attention... until then I will let others enjoy the mediocrity.
AK Cougar | 5:27 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Kudos to Hall and Jorgensen. They played very well which made the game much more fun to listen to.
Utah will destroy BYU | 5:32 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Like TCU, Utah will destroy BYU. Max will wilt under the Utah D just like he does against every other ranked team. Jorgensen will get blow 5 yards off the ball against the Utah O-line just like he did against FSU and TCU. Hall and Jorgensen are ok players but when you don't show up against ranked teams nobody really takes you serious.
All bets are off | 5:39 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Of course Ute fans will run their mouths if they lose to TCU by even one less point than BYU did. That is classic Little Brother Syndrome in action.
NevadaCoug | 5:41 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Utah probably WILL lose by less points to TCU than BYU did. Some teams just match up better. Over the last two years, BYU has not matched up well at all against TCU. (man, what an understatement, right?) Utah matches up better.

But, TCU will still win. I'm split here, just like last year. I want Utah to win, and then BYU to beat Utah, since that would give BYU a share of the Conference title if they win out. On the other hand, if TCU runs the table they have a VERY valid argument to be in the B(S)C Championship game. I'm intrigued to see if the posers-that-be will show some back bone and put TCU in the right B(S)C bowl game.
re: Utah will destroy... | 7:23 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
everything they accomplished last season with the beatdowns they'll suffer at the hands of TCU and BYU

the Utes will have to hope for a win against SDSU at home just to have a break even November
who??? | 7:31 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
"but who is ranked higher utah or BYU???"

the real question is,

Who will be ranked higher after Utah gets destroyed by TCU and BYU?
Utes | 7:52 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Mark my words the Utes will beat TCU by 7 points and murder the team down south by 31!!!!!! Back to the BCS WE GO.....GGGGOOOOOOOOO UTES!!!!!!
For people who don't care, | 7:55 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
thou dost protest too much.

LOL to the likes of "No Big Deal", "Really Don't Care Anymore", and "Big Number--Bad Opponent"

You take the time to post on the BYU article about how little you care for BYU...really?

Go post on the Ute article. Either you're a Ute troll or are a bandwagon fan. Do us all a favor and leave Cougartown. Thanks!

re: Big number - bad opponent  | 8:36 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
As opposed to little number - bad opponent?

So, the real question: after Utah loses to TCU (which they will), will Utah fall BELOW BYU in the rankings?

Not that it matters at all. At this stage, it's all about beating NM, not overlooking a tough Air Force team, and then beating Utah and moving on to as decent a bowl game as we can manage.

But, it is a delicious thought, and some small thing to look forward to.
BYU Student | 9:08 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Prediction (and this isn't out of spite or whatnot):

Utah loses by at least 2 touchdowns to a terrific TCU team. Nothing against the Utes, but if they start out slow then TCU will eat them alive and I don't think they'll allow a rhythm to get going.

The big thing is that TCU will receive 2 to 5 first place votes with a win over ranked Utah, especially if they cover the spread by a decent margin. There's a reason Utah has been stagnant in the polls, despite winning.
Cougars Fan | 10:36 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Congrats to both Jorgensen and Hall on the MWC honors for the week, both are very well deserving. That was possibly the most complete performance I have seen from all three Phases of the game Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. Now they just need to sustain it and keep it going the rest of the way

Go Cougars!
Duh | 10:37 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Why does some dweeb always have to post statistics? That guy needs a job. Who cares????? It is all about winning the game. Doesn't matter what the statistics are about. Both Utah and BYU fans keep bringing up the past which means nothing. Everyone can come up with some stupid statistic about their team but it won't help in their game. Just GO BYU and beat Utah so we can at least be the winner of the losers because Utah will lose this week. If they don't then egg in my face.
Can we just all shut our mouths? | 10:48 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Can you just wait a few weeks until it is settled on the field?

Talk after the game on the last Saturday of the month.

Everyone knows that the winner of that game should be able to do all the talking...

TCU is a great team. I usually cringe that the thought of a MWC team getting the chance to play in Nat'l Championship game but I think TCU would hold their own.

Props to Utah last year for going undefeated and dismantling Alabama but they must admit if they are honest that Alabama had no incentive for being there and if they would have played Florida it is likely they would have been handled. You never know but...

The Y is good this year and will have a respectable season. If they can beat Utah which is certainly no guarantee then 10+ wins and a bowl game is something we should be grateful for.

It is frustrating that the only measure of success now for Bronco and the players is to go undefeated. How soon we forget 5 or 6 win seasons.
y fan | 10:57 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
TCU should go to a bcs bowl this year. maybe utah, IF they win tcu AND BYU but i kinda doubt it. as with BYU. they are gonna win UTAH and maybe they will get a little respect. but there is always byu haters everywhere you go. you can't please anyone any more...
