a bunch of losers. Iran and North Korea are the little whiny kids of the bigger siblings in the global community. The only diplomacy they know is a one sided lying campaign and they get all offended that know one buys it. Of course they want nuclear energy for weapons of mass distruction. I don't think anyone, but IRAN themselves are convinced otherwise. They are just bullies and I don't know why we put up with them as much as we do.

How do these type of people get in control? What a bunch of loons, and yet the world and UN are supposed to sit back and listen to/negotiate with these people? It's like trying to negotiate with an enraged 3-year old while letting them argue their point. Waaaaaaaa!

While it's true that Iran hasn't been playing nicely with others, it's not just based on wacko paranoia.

They're under sanctions because they PO'd us by insisting on exercising their rights under treaties we've agreed to.

Mainstream US politicians call for bombing their country -- including calls for nuclear attacks.

Mainstream US politicians also argue for regime change, fund destabilization efforts, and harbor anti-government Iranian exile groups that we ourselves consider terrorist.

Special forces and ranger groups routinely violate Iranian soverignty, laying the groundwork for possible future bombing or invasion campaigns.

Given the US' steady drumbeat of demonization, threat, and proven contempt for the international laws and treaties it expects others to abide by, It would be extremely foolish to expect US citizens to be above suspicion in Iran, whether they "accidentally" wandered in or showed up at a customs station.

Sure, the dog is mean; but it's still unwise to tease it and then wander into its yard.

I agree that Iran and others are unable to think clearly and hope that these 3 Americans come home safe and sound. BUT, their families should be footing the bill of the US to try and get them out. It is like the fire starters in the forest, they have to pay the services of those who put it out. If these youngsters think they can go wherever they want to go hiking, then they should also be willing for the family or themselves to pay for the efforts to get them out.

Too many other places around the world that are safe and great hiking places to pick the Iraq and Iran border area to foolishly plan for a safe hike ANYWHERE within 1000 miles of that area.

Get them out safely, but help this be a lesson for others to not think that unwise choices DON'T have any penalties.
