Why is there never stories about referees? The game couldn't be played without the fine men and women in stripes!
i hear that the number 8 kid is the best on the team
Don't referees get paid? This sotry is highlighting volunteerism.
Great article about the good work of these volunteer coaches. What a good influence they can be in the lives of the younger boys.
Gotta love those volunteer coaches! What a great way for college students to serve the community--great work!
LDS creme of the crop again! When will the others step up in helping the community instead of just bringing it down.
The ref's don't get paid at this level. It is also pure love of the game and trying to help the kids out!
Yes, the refs Do get paid at this level.
I have been getting gypted! In Little Leauge?!?
Ref's do get paid. About $30-40 a game. I know b/c I made bank doing it.
That should have been the title of this article with all the comments on that subject. Fortunately, it is not. One of my favorite activities while going to the U was helping to coach a Jr. High wrestling and football team. I loved it! You really do make a difference in a kids life. Often times, this is one of the best places to teach qualities of hard work, acheiving goals, leadership, and working together as a team. The down side, is that several parents think they should be on an all star team in the 6-8th grades. Let them have fun. That bieng said, we need more people to volunteer. The world would be a better place if we had more people that thought of others than themselves every once in a while.
