Some families don't object to this. Sharing our grief may be part of saying goodbye to our loved ones. No doubt the photographers respect the wishes of each family.

While I empathize with the letter, I side on sharing grief, for many reasons. We need to understand the pain of others rather than ignore it.

are both sick and nuts. I, too, am sick of seeing the press make money of people's grief. "If it bleeds, it leads" should have gone out the door years ago, particularly at the DNP. When I saw that picture yesterday, I was ready to call DNP and cancel my subscription. It is a well-known saying that "Misery loves company." We are not quite so quick, though, to admit that "A person in misery loves to see people who are more miserable than they."

Morbid fascinations | 9:43 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
The human proclivity to gawk and wallow in morbid fascinations has reach an apex. The television shows of gory dissection of human bodies, the constant in your face weep inspiring articles cannot be good for the human spirit. Grief for the loss of a loved should be a private affair of the family and friends. I dislike seeing Obama using the coffins of returning warriors for a photo op. The country has become jaded and inured to suffering.

Its not only fault of the press. These families are the ones that can say NO at anytime and not have their picture or their stories told. some are doing that, others whether consciously or subconsciously, want their 15 minutes of fame and will grab the spot light any way they can.

Sorry, I know grief can make you do crazy things and the press takes advantage of that. It takes two to tango!
