At least you can continue preaching to the choir here at Des News. Never mind the whole world sees Utah as a place for ignorant followers who vote based on a single issue: Whether or not the candidate has an R beside their name.

Terry Gunn and the other letter writer on these pages who criticizes Don Gale as being from the "far left" need to get a clue: it is they who are on the fringe. Just who are the "left-wing, socialist, freedom-destroying, Ponzi-run government organizations that have been destroying this country for years"? Those using the label "socialist" to describe the Democratic Party clearly have no idea what socialism is. Positions and proposals of the Democrats are still on the right-hand side of the ideological spectrum in comparison with the politics of all other developed countries of the world.
Sorry, Terry | 6:05 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Don Gale was exactly right. Of course you, being blinded by Lumbaugh and his ilk, can't open your eyes-of-the-mind and see the truth. That's sad.

Right on Terry!
Dear Writer | 7:08 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
You've done well to affirm the contentions that Gale made in his column.
dave | 7:19 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Gale was speaking the truth. Talk radio is nothing but entertainment. To take those shows seriously takes an incredibly simple mind.
Don Gale an intolerant dupe  | 8:07 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
There you have it. This man has been plaguing us with his Statist views for years. I have my opinion and he has his.

Problem is, whereas Glenn Beck would present evidence if he was attacking someone, Gale's article is an attack without evidence and without substance.

Let freedom of speech continue. In a fair fight the Don Gales of the world will always lose.

Wow... | 8:08 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
This letter writer wrote a great letter... He completely confirmed Don Gale's point. Terry expressed Don's concerns and comments about the right wing being brainwashed by extremist kool-aid from Rush, Sean, and John Beck better than anyone else could!

Thanks Terry!
uncannygunman | 8:46 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Congrats Don Gale, you have stirred up a fine hornet's nest with your letter. It must have hit a little too close to home for some!
Anonymous | 8:52 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Don Gale nailed it. These right wing nuts are only out for their own selfish interests. They lie, distort and mislead, to the effect of destroying America for their filthy lucre.
Romanadvoratrelundar | 8:56 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Beck, Limbaugh, and all the other radio talk show hosts are nothing except ENTERTAINERS. Don't take anything they say seriously, because their purpose is NOT to debate an issue, not to be thought-provoking, and definitely not to make progress on either side of the spectrum.

The only language they and the radio stations know is $$$$$$$. They will say anything to get people to listen to them.

Glenn Beck does not know the meaning of honest, civil debate. I once listened to him for five minutes, and all he did was mock the caller; everything she said was met with a disrespectful, sarcastic remark, and when she countered him, he screamed "GET OFF MY PHONE!" He screamed that over and over, until his voice broke. And she did get off his phone, because he was not worth arguing with.

Get a clue, people! How can you listen to that trash?
@Oh well Terry | 9:37 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Evidence please. All the country and the world looks down on Utah with its retro-idealogy? Right, and our markets are far more stable and our unemployment is barely over half of the national average. Go to California; bankruptcy, double digit unemployment, the state giving our IOU to their suppliers and workers. Yeah, that's the ticket, let's follow those guys, they are much more enlightened than dorky little Utah.
Wow, talk about  | 10:15 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
proving the point of the original writer.

Thanks, Terry.
Terry, just because  | 10:19 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Don assessed the Limbaughs of the media correctly, does not mean he is taken in by the "left-wing, socialist, freedom-destroying, Ponzi-run government organizations," as you called it.

One thing does not necessarily imply the other.

One may esteem the Glenn Becks of the media exactly as the poison they are, and still be critical and vigilant with our government.
Breck England | 10:38 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
As a long-time admirer of Don Gale, I must say he's done it again. Don brings a reasoned historical perspective to the radio demagoguery that's afflicting our nation. Don, thanks for the diagnosis of the brain cancer known as Limbeckinannity-oma.
To: Oh well | 5:16 | 10:46 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
You do your best to keep the "whole world" thinking that way, would you?

Whatever we can do together to stem the onrushing tsunami of left-coast paleoliberals and back-east elites from peddling their loony tunes in our mountain home!

First, they want to come here because we're NOT Kalifornia, Mass, Vermont, NY, etc. THEN, as soon as they get here, they start demanding we convert ourselves into a clone of the sewer they left to come here.

Whaaaaaa?

Terry, I hope you feel better after spewing you Fox News and talk radio induced hatred.

Go ahead run around weekly with your new this is explaining why America is doomed, that most American are lazy and that the same government who sent government employees to Somalia and saved an American captain can't do anything right. Pout scream, cry and name call. Don't ever shock me by displaying civility, respect or compassion.

What seeks its own level. You can cheer America loosing and pray for our economy to fail. You are who you are. Many of us aren't impressed by what you show us.
To Romanadvoratrelundar | 12:10 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Well, we can listed to Glenn Beck about as easily as you can listen to Keith Olbermann, or Bill Maher, or Jon Stewart, or the "hardest working [racist] man in radio, Tom Joyner."

When it comes to "honest, civil debate," I'll take Rush, Sean, or Glenn over any of the snotty, smarmy, dishonest paleoliberals.
peperlake | 12:32 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Terry Gunn,

your letter amounts to a longwinded version of "oh yeah, well nee ner nee ner nee ner!!!!".

I guess in your world it's the liberals fault that Bush's presidency wasn't exactly perfect, since they are the one's destroying america eh?
Anonymous | 1:48 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
"Glenn Beck would present evidence if he was attacking someone..."

Bwaaahahahaahahahha! Oh man, that's rich. When asked to elaborate on his claim that President Obama was a "racist" with a "deep-seated hatred of white culture," Beck offered nothin. He couldn't define what "white culture" meant nor could he provide any instances of Obama acting or saying anything remotely racist.

Beck is a self-described "Rodeo Clown." You guys really need to stop taking him so seriously and hanging on his every word as if it were gospel truth.
Frankie Gammyfoot | 2:41 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I like to think of them as the
"Pied Pipers of A.M.-land".

Paid well to listen to them,
whilst leading them merrily away to their doom.

Sad.

Let he who has the perfect family..cast the first stone!
@Anonymous |1:48 p.m. | 6:05 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
He DID offer evidence, very good evidence, rather obvious but that's all right.

Obama went to a church for twenty years whose pastor was virulently anti-white. Guilt by association? You bet!

To Don Gale | 3:23 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009

Nice troll. This is not about anyone's family or personal life. It's about sleezy entertainers being taken seriously and the poor people that fall for their act. Your comment is rude and uncalled for.
Re Dave | 7:58 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Gale has gone out on a limb attacking the character of others in his personal opinion, Gale opened the door and has his own set of character issues...making my statement earlier "fairgame"...especially his influence/leadership/tolerance Gale has had on his own family!

Gale...Don't go casting stones unless your wearing a coat of armour.......or your just might get bomeranged in the mouth
heidi | 11:06 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I think the "simple minds" are the ones that just watch the biased mainstream media and don't question what they're being told or research the facts. I do a lot of research and have found Limbaugh and the others to be accurate.

Yes, they do go for entertainment value. But to be successful, it's got to be true. Limbaugh has his own research institute. The big 3 on talk radio know they are being criticised and practically sued for a word, so they are extra conscientious to be accurate. And when they do make a mistake, they own up to it and make corrections.

I don't see the mainstream media correcting very many of their misreporting of the facts.
dave | 6:49 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
If you want information on politics, the environment or anything else avoid any media organizations. Using radio or TV is plain lazy.

All of the material the media uses and alot more are available online.

If you want to form an opinion on the healthcare bill... Read it. I'll bet none of you care enough to make an effort to truly know what your opinions are based on.

Limbaugh, Olberman, Hannity, and the rest.. Just mind candy.
Romanadvoratrelundar | 12:01 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
@12:10 p.m.

Thanks for presuming that I listen to them either. I'm sending you a hint here. I don't listen to any of those men, no matter where they supposedly stand on the political spectrum.
