It would be better if there was more balance. This paper leans hard to the right.

Every paper leans. I like to read both statewide papers.

What fascinates me is the contrast between the tone taken by the DN writers and some of the columnists, but especially the writers to Letters. The DN writers present well thought out, articulate, and mostly irenic essays. These folks are employees of the newpaper, which is owned by a rather conservative religious body. One may disagree with them, but they are not disagreeable. There ae few examples demagogery, straw man, or argumentum ad hominem. Ah yes, then there are the letters, lead by many of the columnists. I suppose everyone needs a voice, with the DN writers as their foil.
