Maybe if you could bat .408 in the major leagues, you too would be paid a high salary! What's that you say? Can't even get one single hit if at bat? Well, then you are paid what you are worth, aren't you? We all are you know! It's called marketable job SKILLS! Yes, what a concept, paid what you are worth! Paid for what you can DO, what you can produce! Can't find a higher paying job? What can you do?

That would be true except major league sports gets monopoly protection from the government and it generally is subsidized by the taxpayer. If there was a truly free market the salaries would be less.

I love how people complain about the salaries of sports and movie stars... but when it comes to executive CEO's they are silent.

If you don't like the lack of a salary cap in baseball, then let your wallet do the talking. Don't go to MLB games. Don't buy their merchandise. Don't watch their games on TV. Don't patronize their sponsors.

You can't appeal to Bud Selig's heart - he doesn't have one. But you can hurt him where it hurts him the most: His checkbook.

Another slant on the issue that is always ignored is that if the teams weren't making money, there could be no big paydays for the "workers". Management is making big cash and their salaries are never reported in the papers. Why not?

I don't suppose anyone has a suggestion as to how much we should pay to see the OWNERS in action.

I will never understand why liberals believe if someone EARNS a dollar more than you, they are overpaid! EARN is the opertive word here! What did you do today to EARN a dollar more than anyone?
