Several schools have turf now...so it is not the Turf. Playing in a collegiate stadium is the unique experience.

Don't be a moron. RES has been refferred to as "The Turf" for years. "The Turf" is simply a nickname that the stadium recieved years ago back when the silverspoon highschools played on grass like everybody else.

As a former player who got the chance to play on that turf years back, here is some advice. Take in every minute of it players! Its great. And shorten your cleats if you have never played on turf before!

TV plays only weak teams and if they play anyone decent (Alta, PG) they lose.

They have one decent win all season (Highland, ID) and that took numerous lucky breaks to win.

will be tough to beat. kuresa looked like an all-american against tV's secondary last year. i can only imagine this year will be that much better.

Easy there MC fans. It's great to support your team and congrats on making it this far but you better be careful when spouting off against a team that has the tradition that Timpview has. MC hasn't done anything yet, let the boys play the game and support your team but I wouldn't bet against Timpview until MC proves something. Good luck to everybody playing at RES in the next couple of weeks.

Looks like were back in the saddle again. The UHSAA actually did something right by letting Mike Sharp play. The video must have been conclusive evidence of one referee being influenced by the Bonneville coaches. They were yelling at him to make the call to throw him out of the game. Should be a good, evenly matched game with Springville. We'll see who wants to win more. See you at RES Thursday!

We don't have the same dreams as you big city folks. Just ask the UHSAA as we are going to the huge Alta High School stadium. WOW!!!!!! It's going to be great to see what civilization is like when you let us come to your city.. Thanks for Nothing UHSAA. Oh well your secretaries are making $60,000 a year. Sorry for any inconvience we may have caused you in scheduling Alta HIgh!!!!!!!

I agree with the comment above, I played three years in high school and the goal was always to play on the turf. We never got there, lost in the quarters the only year in the playoffs and to this day wish I could play that game over. Fortunately many of the boys at Alta get that opportunity, and should respect the fact it's a great accomplishment to make it there.

I think it would be interesting to compare and contrast where the D News had their predictions to who is still in it.

My personal favorite was East. If I remember correctly, they were ranked to begin the season. Their coach even said that he was bringing the team into the 21st Century with the spread and other ideas. Result? A team that for the past six years have been in the region hunt and have averaged 8 wins a season went 1-8, averaging a field goal a game. Make the change. Make it now.

Will be a great game, between two well-coached and talented teams. I think it will be a shoot-out and up to the playmakers. I think that gives the edge to Mountain Crest. My score: MC 42 TV 35

Don't overlook the flyers, because they will be hungry to beat you in a rematch from the begining of the year. Don't let Sharp be a difference maker, and don't let the south region have any more reasons to talk then they already do. The whole 4a/3a region mess is a joke and needs to be dealt with before another realignment.

you do realize those kids have LOST to Timpview the last two years (including one embarrasing blow out loss).

Those MC haven't won on "the turf" yet. Timpview has some kids that have won 4 games there including 2 state championships.

I'm not predicting the game, as I think it will be a close one. But, those "MC fans" talking blow-outs must be nuts because that is not going to happen.

Timpview is loaded with Division I recruits (QB, SS, RB, DL, OL). Mountain Crest will be lucky to have one or two guys play at Snow College.

Get real people.

Timpview has been there and done that. They are a proven program with superior athletes and coaches. Anyone who knows football whatsoever already knows who wins this game.

Where is PG. I have been out of town the last month. I left and they were 6-0 and I may be mistaken, but I think they had already decided to crown them Champs early. They are in fact the greatest team in UT High school history. They beat Jordan when I left. I am sure they blew out Brighton... didn't they? Then they Lone Peak... I am sure they beat them by 4 TDs... right? Did they close out the regular season by beating Alta? I am sure there were no struggles in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs, but I go online and do NOT see them playing.

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED. I AM VERY CONCERNED. DID THEY GET MOVED UP TO THE MWC BECASUE THEY ALREADY HAD COLLEGE LEVEL PLAYERS? DID THE UHSAA SIMPLY PLAY OUT THE SEASON FOR 2ND PLACE? SOMEONE HELP ME OUT!

With more "college recruits" that you happened to recruit, MC outplayed you last year. You lost your best players (Xavier Suafilo, Tui Cricton, Craig Bills), Bronson Kaufusi is hurt = YOU WILL LOSE!!

And Kuresa is going to Utah State or better and there are A LOT of other kids who will play division 1.

To all the MC PLAYERS on here talking trash, you've shown that you can talk the talk for years. But turns out you can never walk the walk. When was the last time you won a game RES??? Play the game and then talk trash, but as of right now your just feeding TV energy to come out with a lot of intensity. That was pretty funny. Not that I follow PG except that their fans were pretty obnoxious. My experience is that the obnoxious teams seem to lose more often than not. This is a game where things can go wrong rather easily at any level and certainly at the HS level. So, saying a team is great and being great aren't the same. I'd say that any of the four teams in any division have a shot. JD seems sure to win it all, but you never know. As for 4A, I'd say that TV vs MC will be the winner, but ruling out the Red Devils or Dixie would be a mistake. I certainly am hoping that the Red Devils win it all, but all you can do is win one at a time and work as hard as you can to put it all together. Go Devils, win this week and then go for it at the championships.

I played for Timpview a few years back when they beat MC 38 to 0 in the semi's, but MC has improved a lot since then and I am excited to see what both teams can do on Thursday. What's annoying is the big mouths that don't know what they are talking about. Honestly, no one knows what is going to happen on Thursday so everyone just needs to shut their mouths about it. Yes I did play for Timpview and I am hoping they do win this game but it would be nice to see MC do well also. Kuresa is a beast and he will be hard to stop but Timpview has a tough defense and even with Kaufusi out they are still a defensive power house. Either way it is going to be a great game and all the haters out there just need to keep their mouths shut and we will see what happens Thursday at RES. Go T-Birds!!!

I guess congratulations are in order to Kuresa though (I guess), he will have a great time riding the bench in mediocrity at Utah State.

The only D1 player on MC will be Kuresa and he will not be going to Utah State. Knowles, if he were just a little bigger would be getting a lot of offers. He is a stud and the one player that can score on the field from anywhere. Timpview has a few kids that will go D1 and will be very tough to knock out. It should be a great game. I hope it's 45-44 and I don't care who wins.

Everyone needs to stop all the "hate" for PG. Up until this year, these boards were filled with Alta/Bingham fans thumping their collective chests with rants of "best team in the state" and "greatest team ever." The problem this year was nothing more than another team and their fans running smack. Get off PG's back. Their fans were doing nothing more than Alta/Bingham fans do each and every year. Their fan base just had one more group of competition this season. Get used to it Alta/Bingham fan... There just might be 2-3 more teams in a similar position as PG this year. Don't take it so serious, welcome the competitive banter because in the end... that's all it really is!

That's kind of the point. Most people don't mind Bingham or Alta saying they are the best teams because quite frankly the last few years they have been. What annoyed everyone was Pleasant Grove fans making the same argument but as you can see they didn't get out of the quarter finals. As soon as they played anyone halfway decent they struggled and they lost to most of the good teams they played.

I completely agree. I have a son who plays for a region 4 team that lost to Pleaant grove. He came home after the defeat and said that he had PG players, coaches and fans congratulating him and asking him how his life was shaping up after high school. College and mission and stuff like that. Now I see that as outstanding class by a fan base that my son had never met before. In my opinion, people need to take a lesson from PG and be more like the fans there in Utah county

You did it to yourselves so deal with it. You never had a chance, your 8 D-1 recruits are all over rated and it caught up to you. You QB handed the ball off like a pro though. It will always be Alta/Bingham, get used to it. Everyone knows whoever wins the Alta/Bingham game takes it all. PG you can all come watch from the sidelines though.

Anybody who is even close to involved with MC Football knows that Timpview is still the defending state champ and until they get beat they still are! MC has wanted to compete at their level the last couple years and now they can. That doesn't mean MC will win but it won't be a blow out! These are two great programs and it will be fun to watch on Thursday night. Any trash talking is probably coming from Logan or Sky View To try and stir the pot since they have nothing better to do this time of year. Good luck to both teams!! I live this time of year!

I find it funny that so many of the comments on here try to down play what the other team has done or has played. This means if you beat them then it means nothing because you are calling their competition weak. I would rather beat a very good team to win the championship. If you beat a team that you have said is weak belittles your own team.

Every one of these 12 teams has earned the right to be on the turf. Every team can be accused of not playing a tough schedule.

Each team better be ready or they will be sitting on the side line wishing that would have prepared a little better than they did.

I'm guessing that most of the comments on this web page are coming from people who are sitting at their parents computer eating doritos, and playing world of war craft on the side. Guess what? Your not going to be the ones praised for being state champions after its all said and done! Both MC and TV have worked hard to get this far, and I'm sure the players of both teams have better things to do with their time then listen to any of the BS that most you losers leave on this site anyways. This is going to be a great game!
