Video games are destroying this Country. They are just another means that the modern entertainment industry is using to promote laziness, sloth, and disrespect for authority among the youth of this Nation. However, parents are also to blame. There was a time in this Country when parents would not have allowed their children to waste their lives away. In the past, parents taught their children to work hard and respect authority. Now, the modern parent is content to let children view and participate in violent video games such as Borderlands. It is no wonder that modern society is such a mess.

John your anger is misplaced. Our nation absolutely glorifies militarism and I've always found conservative backlash against virtual militarism puzzling.

I am 30 years old, a high school teacher, and I bought this game last Friday. It's fantastic! I have been playing video games since 1985 and have suffered no ill effects, am a contributing member of my community and society, and really wish that irrational criticism was more thought out. Relax, John, it's just a game.

Bad parenting is the real culprit for the sloth you've correctly identified but who dares assault concept of the mythical idealized American family?

Studies have shown, over and over, that violent video games do not lead to violent actions - mental illness does. No question, parents should steer kids away from violence but this game and lots of others aren't for kids, just like 'R'-rated movies aren't. Wouldn't it be great if it really was games that was ruining this country? Then it could be easily fixed. Actually I think scapegoating is ruining this country instead of people being personally accountable.
