So should they have been using Wide instead of Asiata all along?

Not a chance. Don't get me wrong they are both studs, but if Asiata wasn't injured he would be #1 guaranteed.

Yes, Asiata would still be #1 but that doesn't mean he should. Wide has way better numbers. Asiata would beat down a defense, but our offense had no punch or diversity to finish people off. Wide has the big play factor and he has carried this team along with David Reed offensively. Those two ballers make something out of nothing. For example dink and dunk 80 yard touchdowns, scooped up fumbles for scores ect...

That said, starter or no starter, Whit made two big mistakes the first half of the year. 1) not splitting carries and keeping your RB's fresh (21st century football). 2) not starting Wynn the whole year. How good would the kid be right now with 9 games experience going into TCU.

What a tremendous asset Wide has become. It would be great to see Asiata get an extension for another season and have both him and Wide as running backs next year. They would be unstoppable. Shakerin is a beast and is just beginning a promising career for the Utes.

...where we'd be if Asiata hadn't gotten hurt. Schramm would insist on running Asiata off-tackle every play just like he did with Wide the first few games that Wide started.

The three best things for this offense were a) Wide taking over the RB position, b) Schramm getting "benched," and c) putting Wynn in as QB. Granted it was only UNM, but last night is what the Utah offense is supposed to look like.

Realizing that Utah has Wynn, Wide and Shak all coming back next year has me licking my chops already!

Eddie Wide is a flat out stud and one of my favorite Ute runners in recent memory. We will need every bit of his best effort on Saturday, but it must be said that he has answered every question up to this point.
Gotta love Shak | 12:45 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009
The Running backs for the utes look tough.....but the lack of a QB will be exposed as the Utes FINALLY play someone with a winning record

TCU 55 Utes 20

BYU 63 Utes 31

I always find it funny that coog fans think any team, let alone their team can put up those kind of numbers on the Ute defense. You need to put down the game controller and step back into reality.

ha ha do me a favor and look up the Utes defense for me and let me know the last time we gave up 50 pts. it has to be atleast 10 years .. ridiculous

The pressure isn't on Utah, it's on TCU. Tcu has nothing to gain by beating Utah and everything to loose. The Utes know that and they will be loose. They have nothing to loose and everything to gain. They will go all out and they do have (in my opinion) a coach that is as good as any in the ncaaf for the big game, that isn't taking anything away from Patterson. Utes gonna need their best game and a lot of luck to win this one, but GO UTES! TCU, with all respect for a great program, if you if you don't get us in this game, it's gonna be a while b4 you have a real chance but good luck to you and if you win ... take it all the way.....
