It will be nice to stretch the field with Jacobson playing. I wonder how fast realy is this kid ? he seems to be getting by people when he is in the game.

Jacobson is one of those rare Cougars - fast by any standard not just Provo standards. This kid would be called fast if he was a Gator. But I wonder how much a mission takes off that kind of speed and just how long it takes to get back to the same level? He has obviously gotten enough back to where he is the fastest Cougar and leads the nation in ypc if he had enough touches to qualify. But I am guessing he still needs another off season to be at that same speed he brought in as a freshman.

I am sure McKay is tired of the constant comparisons. It has to be tough for him as a receiver to have a system in place now where regardless of who the receiver is, the ball is going to be spread around. Look at Dennis this year. Both he and McKay could do so much more. All the receivers BYU career statistics certainly will be down from what they would have been had under this new distribution scheme. As a cougar fan I am happy we had Austin then and just as happy we now have McKay. He seems more able to live with the new offensive distribution. Max played great this week and I still hope he can find McKay more and we can win out.

The OC's need to step up the game plan and throw at least twice as much to Jacobsen. When you have a guy that is averaging over 27 yards a catch with a TD every 3-4 catches, you should use him more. Going from 2-3 passes to 4 or 6 times a game is not very much at all out of 65-75 plays a game. Come On Coaches!!!!!

After watching him all throughout high school, i compare his speed to Todd watkins (former byu reciever), Collie for his routs, and Nate Solberg for presence on the field.

But look for him to continue to be just one cog in a big offensive BYU machine. We've got big powerful athletes like Harvey Unga, Dennis Pitta, and O'Neill Chambers, a big tough offensive line, and then the slice and dice, change of pace speedsters like Mckay Jacobsen, Riley Nelson, and JJ DiLuigi. That's what I love about our offense is that we've got big powerful guys, and fast, quick guys too.

To say that Collie would lobby for the ball? Puuullleeeaaassseee! Collie was the only option Max had last year (besides Pitta who is a TE). Collie had confidence and dedication that most of that team has only shown glimpses of this year. No one wanted to win more than that guy. And no, Jacobsen will be good, but he won't haul in half the numbers Austin did.

Yes I agree the offense has many weapons but they are not equal in production. Get him the ball 4-5 times more a game and BYU will be even more explosive.

The reason Jacobson averages 27 YPC is because he doesn't get the ball thrown to him 6-7 times a game. If he did, he would draw more attention and double teams. Continued distribution of the ball is the most effective way to rack up team yards and points.

Jacobson's average would probably come down with more throws his way but it still would be more than double the team production per offensive play. To game plan getting him the ball 6-7 times a game would still be less than 10% of the offensive plays. A playmaker like him should get the ball AT LEAST 10% of the time. He has proven himself since day one.
