Hats off to the Snow Canyon Warriors. You gals are already a dynasty in progress. Congratulations on another tremendous year.

Jamaica Alisa, Taylor Murphey & Alexa Esplin were incredible. I watched the tournament all weekend and this team did very well because of those 3.

Glad SC can beat Dixie in something. Four years in a row the Warriors beat DHS in girls volleyball, and now four years in a row Dixie beat Snow Canyon in football. I'll take the football wins, thank you! Flyers still flyin high!
Schedule in St. George | 1:18 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009
I know this is aragont to some. Please schedule the 4A Volleyball playoffs in St. George from now on. This will allow the teams that will be in the championship game to have the support of the entire community. After the teams up north lose they can then play golf or shop or whatever it will also help out the economy in St. George

Just wondering how many things did you win when you were at Dixie and how many state games have you been in. In all things considering Dixe did a great job. You have no idea the back ground of these kids and what they go through everyday. They represented YOUR school well. Did you?

I watched the entire tourney myself, and every warrior volleyball player made a huge contribution. To say they did well because of three players is ridiculous. Every kid on that team came up with big plays when it counted. Don't diminish what that ENTIRE team did! What an awesome bunch of kids; crowd included!

Hmm... the Dixie golf state champ and the SC volleyball state champ live in the same house behind black ridge... weird

Want to give some credit to SUVA club for making both teams great. I think great coaching all year (not just from high school coaches) has helped these kids. Great job this year to both teams. most of Dixie's team that played in that tournament are 2 and 3 sport kids who barely started playing v-ball until 2 years ago. Way to go Dixie. You were there when nobody expected. When you look at Snow Canyon, they all have played since 5th grade and most of them only play volleyball. The Suva Club had a lot to do with their ability to play.

Way to go WARRIORS. What a great bunch of girls, coaching staff, parents and fans. The warrior team totally deserved to win, they played with heart. Way to ROCK the house JAMAICA ALISA, nice way to end your season. Have fun at the next level, GO AGGIES!
super job | 8:01 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009
way to go Dixie and Snow Canyon! You have worked hard all season. The entire team for both teams are very deep and yes we will be back next year for another one. I think that all the 4 A teams did a great job! I was disappointed in the Dixie fans feeling that they needed to compare volleyball with other sports. After all to us that watch the game volleyball is the only game that matters anyway. Best wishes to all teams and the hard work you put forth this year!

yes the entire team did excellent and the fans were great. i was just mentioning the 3 that stuck out the most to me. but the whole team did do very well...thats why they won.
SC Fan | 9:02 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009
Way to go girls. Yes they all played great, it would be hard to pick the MVP. The biggest difference was when it appeared that Parker started to get cramps in her legs and SC stumbled for a few points, when she recovered, they picked up steam and closed the match. Yes she deserves the MVP. What a great bunch of girls. Good luck Jamaica, go enjoy the Aggies with former Warrior Liz McCarthur. Both teams should be congratulated. It is hard to get there, yet alone win it. Southern Utah has some great athletes and great programs.

woo hoo!!!! Snow Canyon is amazing. With a power house set of girls and an amazing coach, we were a shoe in for the win! Good job to everyone! Way to represent.

I am going to have to say I love Stacy and the way she prepares her team as well... Everyone is congratulating the warriors and they well deserve it, but Hats off to you Stacy! You did a great job!!! You always do and I look to you as a mentor in many ways! Thanks for always being a great example to your team and those of us who watch!!!

who is responsible for the up swing in V-ball in St. George...do they have club teams or is someone working with the girls?
please | 9:59 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
who runs SUVA Club and are any of the girls going on to play college..
Volleyball observer | 10:31 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
SUVA seems to be patting themselves on the back for someone else's accomplishments. I did not see SUVA on the back of any girls jersey this weekend, and I think it is awfully presumptuous to take credit for someone else's success. I have watched Border League in St. George, and both of these schools have feeder programs that work with young kids. Getting to play a lot of volleyball helps, but these coaches and programs are successful not because of some club, but because they are putting in the time and effort with their kids where it counts.
to volleyball observer | 11:04 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
These kids get good coaching year round. high school and SUVA. That is what makes the difference. Even middle school age, they play club or go to camps through SUVA or the high school. Bottom line these kids get good coaches all year. Plus the kids really know how to work. They love the sport and want to do good.
Stacy Leavitt | 11:20 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I would like to comment to volleyball observer. Thank you for talking up our volleyball programs and border league. It is a lot of time and energy. No they didn't have SUVA on their backs, they had Dixie and Snow Canyon. They were fighting for their schools and programs. But I also believe other coaches have helped these kids be successful. These kids come together on the off season and play club together. Under the direction of other coaches. Thanks to everyone that has helped with these kids. And thanks to the kids who work so hard and do have a lot of passion for the game. I am especially proud of my kids. It wasn't easy this year and they could have given up. You don't see teams with kids averaging 5'7" playing in a state championship. They showed a lot of heart. Their defense was amazing.
Alaina Parker | 12:27 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I would like to second what Stacy said. The kids on both teams work hard to be successful during the high school season, and in the off season. Southern Utah was, once again, well represented in the state tournament. I also appreciate the passion the kids show for the game. If you were at UVU this past weekend, you got to see some great volleyball. Congrats to all the girls who were a part of that championship match; most people don't ever get that opportunity!

Sorry if you haven't noticed but um last year, I can't think right now apparently, but who won Region 9 Basketball?
5'7" | 7:41 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
What is the average hieght and where is that information found? Or is that just one of those made up feel good statistics?
SUVHUH? | 10:54 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Did hurricane have any suva players on last years State Championship team? The Championships belong to the schools, coaches, players and parents who work hard all year. Not to businesses who earn income from the girls. Have you ever heard these words "I need to make my high school team so I can have a better chance to make my club team", UH NO!
Anonymous | 1:00 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
These club teams take alot of time and effort to help these girls be even BETTER V.B. players and it is very rude to come on here and put down the clubs that work with these girls. Keep up the good work SUVA and Border League, thanks for all your help with the girls!!
to SUVHUH | 1:45 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
Hurricane had no SUVA players on their championship team, I don't think they had any the year they made the semi's either. Most would say they still have 2-3 kids a year that are as good or better then some Dixie and SC players, but that's another argument. Do clubs help improve athletes? Yes however, a good HS coach tries to first get the kids focused on the "team objective" rather then the "club or scholarship" objective that too many kids have become blinded with and ruined their playing experience not to mention their chances after HS. Find it interesting that SUVA (probably the owners or people coaching it) are taking the credit. good job to the HS coaches, players, parents and community.
Love to watch VB | 2:17 p.m. Nov. 11, 2009
I was at UVU last weekend and wanted to comment on a player that I enjoyed watching. Snow Canyon's #10 Jamaica Alisa. What an exciting player. I could tell she has been coached very well, she was so fun to watch as she was a leader on the court. Her energy was amazing. I noticed in previous posts she is going to USU. I hope they know how lucky they are to get such an exciting player. Good Luck to you Jamaica you made this tournament a pleasure for me and my family to watch. You are a true Champion.
Varsity player for Stacy | 6:33 p.m. Nov. 13, 2009
I would like to say that i am a senior this year and have played for Stacy in both club and High School ball and i know that she is the best coach around. She brought us to state and made us work for it so we could play in the championship game. We did what was unexpected and played well. Our whole team came together and didn't die as past teams have at state. Congrats to Dixie in a great season. Good Luck at state next year Dixie. Thanks for being such a great coach Stacy.
To: Varsity Player for Stacy | 12:08 p.m. Nov. 15, 2009
You did do well at the tournament but your arguement that your team "didn't die as past teams have at state" is funny. What do you call 2nd place 4 straight years? Which teams died? How is your team different? To say she is the best coach around is another fun statement. Seems the best players win as do the best coaches. In our 4A region, she is the 2nd best coach around just as her team has been 4 straight years.

Go Warriors
