"At least the Knicks lost"
todd from santa ana | 9:50 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
If this continues, Jerry may need to do some serious consideration "to step aside"

I am beyond tired of this garbage. This defense is garbage, the coaching philopsophy is garbage and the players efforts and execution is inconsistent at best.

You guys I doubt watch Sacramento as much as I do.

TRUST ME THEY STINK

They are likely the worst team in this league, some talent but defensively they are normally worse than us.

You have Matthews score 11 points in 5 minutes in a first half we lead 39-25 middle 2nd quarter. He plays little after. Fez turns in a decent 4 minutes and is plus 7 for 4 minutes! Never see him again. Kous not all. Then we get outscored 63-29 over 19 minutes. One of the quickest turnarounds I have seen in years.

Kirilenko, Brewer continue to brick, Boozer loses the ball, goes soft misses underneath, Jazz live in perimeter making it worse.

Defensively, no adjustments. 3 after 3, they shoot 62 percent on 3s, 48 overall and outscore Jazz by 18 from 3s alone.

At the end down with needed a stop Boozer goes for weak fake, Brewer off side doing nothing, they score
Anonymous | 9:54 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Argh!!!!!!!!We always take the weak teams lightly. On any given night teams like memphis, sacramento, etc can beat you. Come on Jazz, jump on these teams early and beat them. None of this too little too late 4th quarter rally stuff. Now if we had played like that the whole game we would have won. I sure hope our season turns around because we are not taking care of business.

Ok so how many games like that Miller will need to see until he will fire Sloan? 88 mil payroll and 2-4 start with already 2 loses at home? This team under Sloan is not going even make playoffs.
On the other hand maybe that is the plan? Boozer's and Harpring's contracts will be gone, we will have two lotery picks, maybe even Sloan will retire. Could be nice next season. This one is going down the drain for sure.
D-Will had -3 points | 9:54 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Okay, so D-Will scored 29 points. Evans, whom D-Will was "defending," had 32. So Williams really only had -3 points. He cannot keep anyone in front of him and out of the lane. Our bigs are terrible defenders and rotate slowly, opting to foul instead. That explains Evans shooting 19 free throws. D-Will is great, but we will never win with this group of players if he cannot keep other guards out of the lane. Lots of other problems too, but this gets old game in and game out.
Ak Fan | 9:57 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
This is it. Jerry Sloan has to go. He looked uninterested old man sitting in the bench. Boozer play really hurt Jazz. This was not on tnt different game.
Eric from WJ | 9:58 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I agree completely but I don't think that "if this continues" matters. He should step aside now. There have only been disappointments for fans the past few years.
Biscuit | 10:00 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I hate that I care about the outcome of a game. I need a lobotomy.
Defense. | 10:03 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
What defense was that? The Kings a little maybe. Or Fes.

The +/- consistantly show that we are making a huge mistake by not playing Fes more. Check out tonights. All the other games too. Fes really does his share defending down in the paint making it easier for the other players to defend the perimeter. It's about defense 1st and foremost. Especially in the painted area.

This My Friends..... | 10:04 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Is a horror show! Absolutely the worst defense I've seen in a long time. Would someone please explain to Jerry that the three point shot continues to kill this team because they can't rotate qucikly enough. Distugusting performance tonight. BTW what's with Millsap? Makes me wonder why the big payday over the summer. Not the same player he was last year. Oh well $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ cure's alot of ill's. Desire may be one.
Hugh G. Hater | 10:04 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
The Jazz seem to be missing the cohesiveness they usually have. As Boozer goes, so goes the Jazz it seems now.
The coaching has stayed the same however.

Who Nocioni and Udrih were such superstars?
Jazz fan | 10:07 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I didn't have super high hopes for this season, but I didn't think that we would ever be behind Oklahoma City in the standings. I don't even have the desire to watch the team. Fire Sloan. Trade Boozer. If neither of those things happen then fire KOC.
UGH!!! | 10:08 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I feel so bad for D-Will. I bet he leaves when his contract is up. There is no reason for him to stay. Without him we become a small market version of the Knicks. This is bad.... very bad.
JazzHater72 | 10:09 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I just fell out of my chair.. will someone help me up?
William Grace in LA | 10:14 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Gentlemen of Utah Nation I missed the game but by hearing about the King's sudden scoring binge I can bet my life he never called a timely time out! Please response Utah Nation. Is anybody out there????
todd from santa ana | 10:17 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
totally agree my friend Grant Napear is happy with his Kings and Westie tonight. Evans is a great rookie but cannot score 32 to DWIl 29 but it is hard to stop fast opposing points. That is not how this game was lost.

The Jazz looked like they have "never seen a zone" in theyr'e life.

Gee coaching maybe?

Professionals yes?

Look it is many people fault, I will let others post and not hog this space tonight. There were more no shows tonight....

There is your beloved "pack the paint"

Maybe if Fez played more,,,sure...
gwheel | 10:18 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
It certainly is good that the front office made it so I cannot watch any games on KJZZ. now I can get other things done instead of wasting my time following the jazz. too bad players get paid for not showwing up. the fans need to show the disgust at the ticket office.
Anonymous | 10:19 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Sloan isn't the problem. The season is young still. There is hope. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. We have been around in most the ball games we've played. The Jazz are going to make the playoffs. We are missing some pieces for sure (so not going deep into the playoffs), but nonetheless are a decent team.
Anonymous | 10:20 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Didn't we lose only 8 games at home a season or two ago? And now we are losing to teams like the Kings at home? We have major chemistry/effort issues going on!
Usual Sloan Defender | 10:22 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I always defend Sloan. But not tonight. He just sat there looking blankly forward not doing any coaching, not making any adjustments. Just sat there. Anyone with half a brain should've seen that the Kings were having a good night from 3, so just maybe we should extend the defense. The perimiter defense was beyond bad, it was embarrasing, and I blame the coaching staff. The defense only was there for the final 8 minutes of the game, and what do you know??? They make it a close one. Gee, if they'd have done that for the whole game, I think just maybe there would've been a different outcome.

I'm insulted as a Jazz fan watching this junk and having them tell me they're working hard on defense. I'm insulted to watch Jerry do nothing, while I know he's a very high paid coach.
This team needs to make changes, or they're going nowhere.
todd to hugh | 10:24 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I lied! Here is more one more post

Nocioni remember was coming off "personal issues thursday"

Udrih is actually decent,

it is irrelevant...This team decided to look serious and desperate as the Kings crumbled.

Here is the thing that makes this even worse

The Kings could not hit a pea in the ocean and clearly were stressing and trying to hang on-the Jazz had many opportunities during much of the quarter to comeback and win

However, they did not make nearly enough of a dent in the lead...

Notice, how Sacramento is building a team with "youth"

Napear told me they love theyr'e young players. I am happy for Grant and Westie who I like, but I would rather have delayed theyre happiness beating someone else
Same Team Different Year | 10:25 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Went to the game, left early. Not surprised, we

saw this same thing happen at the end of last year

against Golden State.

As the resident expert here on the D-News Jazz comment board, I say free hot dogs for the fans.

HOT DOGS ARE TASTY.

Trust me. I'll even make this easy for you by writing in short paragraphs and putting spaces between each paragraph.

A good hot dog takes away the sting of defeat.
Jasmine22 | 10:30 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
GO KINGS!!!!! Tyreke Evans had his break out game!! ROY **Fingers crossed** I'm super excited!! :)
D WILL | 10:30 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Does anybody know why Williams casually walks the

ball up the court when the Jazz are down by 13 with

6 minutes left??? Probably could have saved 45

seconds if he would hurry the ball up the court and

get the offense set. Why does he play like he is

10 points ahead when he is 10 points behind??? "Be

quick but don't hurry" -John Wooden
 | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Yeah ... I feel bad for DWill too ...

I hope the fans won't boo him after he leaves the Jazz ...

I guess I'll be a fan of whatever team DWill goes to
Kk | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Congrats Utah, you just lost to the NBA equivalent of a D-league team. If we keep this up we could have 2 of the top 5 picks in the draft next year. Rookies probably salivate at the mouth when they get to play the Jazz. So hard not to stay positive after another joke like this.
Parkcat | 10:39 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
This is the Sloan-O'Connor system in all of its glory. Jerry will not change and every other coach in the NBA knows it. We will see if Greg Miller is as blindly loyal as Larry was. The fans will not support this pathetic effort.

This is just the beginning of a huge tailspin. Jerry does not want to defend 3's. We have so many guys slipping screens that none of them actually know how to hold one. Boozer was not passing to open players and the zone has confused Deron Williams every time he faces it.
the Mailman | 10:42 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
The debacle continues.

It was no big deal beating the Spurs the other night, they were horrible and if it was at their place we would've got whooped!

Almost find myself going for the other team when we play, that might be the only way we get some change at the Jazz.
Don't blame Sloan | 10:42 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Think about it, we have the following key players:
1) A guard who cannot shoot well in Brewer
2) Big men that are poor defenders (Okur and Boozer)
3) An undersized forward with Milsap

Honestly, I have been surprised we did okay the past 2 years

Stop blaming Sloan, it will get much worse with someone else. Don't forget the cast of second round picks .... If you don't believe me, look at Matthews, an undrafted player doing well in Sloan's system ... Sloan is not the problem!
todd from santa ana | 10:43 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I knew it, here come "the Sloanaholics!"

spare all of us

nighty nite
Cheeseboy | 10:47 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Why anyone thought that this team would be better is beyond me. Same exact team as last year = same results as last year.

Get some courage Jazz brass and make a move. Do SOMETHING! Make some kind of changes!
todd to "dont blame sloan" | 10:57 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
You are a joke

Develop?

That is why Matthews scores 11 points in like 5 minutes and when do you see him again?

Please everyone face it-- Jerry needs to look at himself and this team and after this road trip without at least 2 wins, say goodbye

Unfortunately, will not happen but I can hope
the Mailman | 10:58 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
@ Dont blame Sloan

Can the man call a timeout? Can he make some defensive adjustments, like defend the three? Can he stop unheard of rookies torching the Jazz evry second night? Can he play Fes and Kosta like everyone in the entire universe knows he should?

I could go on and on

I ask you this, how long does the man need to prove he can win a title? Cos that what its all about!

Miles | 11:02 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I only have two things to say:

CJ
and
Miles

Until he is back in the lineup, Jazz Lose.
B.R. | 11:09 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
@ D Will

Great offensive game and stats.

You will need to pick it up on the defensive end though to make the allstar team. Your team has to win.

Jazz vs Denver Denver’s PGs 44 pts Loss
Jazz vs Clippers Clippers’ PGs 21 pts Win
Jazz vs Houston Houston PGs 29 pts Win
Jazz vs Dallas Dallas PGs 27 pts Loss
Jazz vs SA SA PGs 23 pts Win
Jazz vs Kings Kings PGs 50 pts Loss

Some of those are actually combo guards, so it isn't as bad as it looks. I just wanted to show that there is plenty of blame to go around when a team is this bad, and DWill has a share. Kings ran the zone to shut down the inside game, so they think shutting down Boozer is important, and that the Jazz have no shooters. Surprise, surprise. Doesn't fit with the agenda of some here, though, I know.
re: Miles | 11:15 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Stop... Please... Just stop... Please... No more.
To Mailman | 11:16 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I agree with you, he has his faults and needs to call time out especially during the Dallas game. But I do not think he is the problem. Kevin O's choices are no good ... our players are lacking .... except DWill.

Don't you think ?
Opposing teams | 11:16 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Take it to the hole. Take it to the coach. He's trying to promote Boozer. With Okur standing there too.
Anonymous | 11:22 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
All of these people hating on the jazz and sloans system are the same ones who were loving the results when we were in the finals. Go be kings fans if its that bad.

I would love to see the stats for a teams win lose when they shoot 60+ percent from the field. I bet they are through the roof. Some games bad teams are just hot, thats why the season has 82 games.

The Jazz are young, I would love to see them trade boozer for a veteran with some experience and maybe a couple rings. I hate d fish, but he gave us that leadership we needed. Thats the only difference from a few years ago. It would be similar to a chauncy billups situation in denver last year if we did. Maybe a guy like Battier?

Its to bad it seems like booze is holding this team hostage. It seems like if he plays good, we are a really good team. If not, we lose. He is also doing it with chemestry and money. Too bad, thats why we need to trade him for some veteran.
To sloan haters | 11:28 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Sloan knows more about basketball than all of us. Thats why he is a coach and we are sitting on our couch eating a hot dog. Get over yourselfs, you dont know that much about basketball.

All of you talking about how we cant shoot the 3.
a. we made like 2 3-pointers against the spurs and owned them, they are one of the better teams in the league. We won cause we got inside, and didnt let down in one quarter.
b. our two shooters are both out. CJ and Korver.
Everyone calm down, the season is 82 games for a reason.
Larry | 11:36 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
This one of the top ten most pathetic defensive efforts I have ever witnessed from a Miller owned team.
Holy Cow! | 12:08 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
Easy on the Sloan bashing. Do you know how many coaches ever have success in this league? Hardly ANYONE! If Sloan goes, the chances of the next coach being better, or even decent, are VERY small.
Anonymous | 12:11 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
Will the Jazz even make the playoffs this year. The way they are playing it doesn't seem likely. I guess we still have many games ahead of us, though. Hopefully they can improve.
To pretend that Sloan does | 12:31 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
not have major responsibility is nonsense. He selects and approves each player. He manages who plays. It is his philosophy that causes teams to shoot 60% from the 3 line against the Jazz and his philosophy that prevents the Jazz from using the 3 like most teams.

There may be other issues but the Jazz got torched by the 3 guards. The rebounding was even. The Jazz are not going to get any better. To make matters worse they are losing at home to weak teams.

They may get it together when they want to play against a good team but they will still stink most of the time.

Sloan knows what he needs to do but it does not happen. Why?

CJ might have made a little difference, assuming he could guard Evans. Korver may have broken the zone but there are no set plays for him.

DWill probably is perplexed when faced with a zone. Brewer and AK can't shoot outside and the zone plugs the inside.

Everyone in the NBA knows the Jazz have wings who can't shoot. Ditto for defending the 3. Pack the paint on defense and bomb with 3s on offense.
everythingmustcometoanend | 12:41 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
I saw Sloan interviewed last year - he said he didn't even know what an ipod was. Sloan is an old confused fossil of a man who clings to coaching because the rest of the world is beyond his comprehension. And now, as basketball has incorporated more and more dynamic plays, Sloan has lost the one thing that made sense to him - his layup basketball philosophy no longer works. Sloan is Lennie in the NBA version of "of mice and men."
DESCRIPTION | 12:44 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
JAZZ/ROYAL PAIN.

Sounds about right.
melke21 | 1:11 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
What a joke, the critics on Sloan are right on. Please quit Jerry!

That Santa Ana guy was right, he usually is. When he stated a few months ago the best protests were to contact the Jazz, I would agree.

I would also take it one step further and not buy tickets and force Greg to do something or sell. If he tried to move the team then the city can block it somehow if needed.
Re: Anonymous | 1:18 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
No the Jazz will not make the playoffs this year. We will not improve under the current system. It must be replaced, but probably won't. Sorry.
