"FLAG-BEARERS: BYU senior linebacker Terrance Hooks carried out the team flag prior to Saturday's game, while Larry Hamilton, a defensive lineman on the 1984 national championship team, carried the alumni flag."

...and this is important because????

What does this kind of BEATDOWN do for BYU?

Keep the fan base pacified?

Where was the chest thumping when the COUGARS were BEATDOWN by FLORIDA STATE, AND TCU?

Well it's too bad they didn't beat TCU or Florida State 52-0 then maybe they would be considered a top team instead of just another decent football team. They are the 25th-27th best team in the country according to the polls. There's the truth straight and simple. Gotta love the byu faithful (and I like BYU), but 1984 hasn't happened again yet. I hope it does, but we have a lot of work to do to get to that point, where we have the discipline to play hard every week. The Utah game is going to be no easy game, especially if the Utes pressure Max Hall like they did last year. And yeah the guys bringing the pressure are pretty much all the same guys - Paul Kruger. No Sean Smith, but Robert Johnson gets a lot of picks. I thought the Y abandoned the run in that game, and then Max threw five picks. I just went off on a tangent, but I hope the cougs finish strong

So who's your team son?
Are they undefeated?
Who have they played?
Let's compare teams rather than 1 mindless criticism.

its important because after getting shallacked by FSU their "national championship" hopes are gone this year so they need to mention 1984 a few more times. Why do they even still have a team they can just sit around and talk about the good old days.

What it does is add another victory to their record. All anyone can do is prepare for their next game win or lose. The Wyoming game is over and New Mexico is up next. BYU has everything to play for, they have their next game and that is all they need to be thinking about. Being a fan, I can look ahead and think about the posibiliy of BYU finishing 11-2 with one of the losses being against perhaps the best team in the nation. Pretty darn good I would say. Even if BYU dosn't win another game, I think they have shown they are a good football team. The Haters are out in force and will forever be consumed by their blind and ignorrant hate. I predict BYU wins the rest of their games and dominates Utah in the process. If they do Ute fans, that will be 3 out of the last 4. I'm your "Huckleberry"

You talk like the BYU game will be a cake walk for Utah.

I'll be ecstatic when the Utes are unpleasantly surprised at how much of a ball game they'll have on their hands with BYU, (can you say 2007?)

What??? | 11:20 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
What purpose did summing the totals of the last 4 games actually provide. We know nothing more than we did before.

Why did we stop at 4 years? Why not the last 5, 6, or 7 years? Or even better yet, why not sum up the total score for the entire series between BYU and Wyoming? Why does it matter?

At the end of the day, or the season, it's only the W-L record that matters. All the talk about how far you beat a team is ridiculous.

Utah will lose to both TCU and BYU this season. It's only a matter of time. Get ready for the Poinsettia Bowl Utes! :)

to complain about, isn't there. A win is a win, and this was a good win. Yes, it was a win against a mediocre mountain west conference team, but it was still another notch on the belt. Because BYU beat them by more than TCU and Utah did doesn't mean anything - a different week is a different team. But, a win is a win, and I'll take it.

will always be arrogant, ignorant and obnoxious. Great win over New Mexico yesterday Utah. Great Win over Wyoming BYU. Seems to me Utah struggled with Wyoming at Home???? Interesting. If BYU continues to blitz and swarm on defense like I saw at Wyoming, Utah's new prima donna had better be prepared to scramble or all cain will be had.

Calm Down! | 6:39 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
I have never, ever seen so much criticism of the quality of a team that just won 52-0 as I have seen today in Deseret News comments.

Fellow BYU fans, let's face it: we're danged if we do and danged if we don't. Imagine what the Ute kiddies would be if BYU had beaten Wyoming by a more modest score, such as 22-10. "22-10? BYU is weak! No wonder they couldn't beat FSU or TCU!"

At least our team tried FSU. And TCU. And let's not forget OKLAHOMA.

The Utes have not played anyone decent yet--but they lost anyway--and they're in for a big surprise against their only two good opponents of the year, TCU and BYU. But don't worry, Uties: 9-3 is pretty good, and the MWC has a gazillion bowls, so you'll go somewhere (just not the BYU Bowl, aka the Las Vegas Bowl).

Boring blogs from the Uters again? Give it up!

The Cougs would have gladly transfered 40 of the points racked up in Laramie to a win against TCU. TCU is rolling and not even Utah can stop them.

The Cougs will roll over Nex Mexico, have a great matchup with a win over AF, but doing a beatdown on the Uters will be sweet ending the regular season 10-2.

Go Cougs!

Prettey straightforward. It just illuminated the fact thet BYU had had the number for Wyoming for a few years. maybe not the biggest bombshell out there, but they thought it might be interesting. Usually it does not happen the 200+ to 17 mark. So they wrote about it since they are a newspaper and all. Not everyarticle is a blockbuster.
