Cougars should move up | 8:20 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
BYU should clearly be ranked higher than Oklahoma now.

SEC Scheduling | 8:57 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Its such a joke that nearly every week there is another team in the SEC playing some Div II team. What in the world is any Div I school team doing playing a team so inferior this late in the season. Furman, Tennessee Tech, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Arizona???? All SEC opponents this week... really? Isn't there some rule against that. It's bad enough that Tennessee is playing Memphis instead of some conference foe. There should be some kind of an approvals process where such scheduling can only be approved if a hardship can be proven and no other conference or division team is available. How in the world the SEC gets anointed as college football's best conference every year when they don't ever play a respectable non-conference team until the postseason is beyond me.

One note about Tennessee playing Memphis.

Both are state run schools and the legislature their basically made it known they want them playing each other. Memphis is in a big push to join a BCS conference and they feel that by playing a BCS team they can show prospective conferences they are worthy of it. The only BCS team they can schedule, with political pressure, is Tennessee.

This is not a cream-puff by whimpy design, but a political muscle thing.

That being said the SEC in generally has an imbalanced schedule. They play each other then outside of that schedule lots of weak, non-SEC teams. Also, they generally play no more than 5 road games. In fact it is very common that they will play 4 road games and 8 home games! That will pad their scores. As a rule of thumb they rarely play non-SEC teams on the road.

FOR A RUDE AWAKENING! Hey Utah, have fun at TCU this week! Can we say goodbye to their good ranking and their obnoxious fans that "think" their program has moved so far advanced beyond the Cougars! Uh huh, yeah... right.
