First off, hats off to Davis and their running back. What a performance. I might go up to RES next week just to watch him again. What an athlete. Great game Davis. I really think you have a shot at winning it all. Second, thanks for the class you showed Davis fans! I sat next to the Davis fans due to limited seating on the PG side and let me tell you, it was like sitting with my own family. Very nice people and congratulated me on the vikings good season.

PG- this was a tough game to lose. I know the feeling. But you never showed any quit in you and you played hard till the end. Thats all anyone can ask. Its been great watching this group of young men play this year. Looking forward to many more amazing memories for years to come

As a PG fan, I am now a davis fan. Great game to the Darts. Continue to hand it off to Hinds and you will be just fine. As for PG, congrats on a good season. The media and some fans might blame the last few games on ijuries, bad luck, whatever, but I know each and every one of you were humble and played hard till the end. Keep working those that will get a chance at the nect level. As for the rest of you, keep coninuing to make PG what it is. A great city
PG Greatest Ever Good Bye | 12:44 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
You had the easiest road in....beat Riverton (not good)....beat Davis (not great)....beat Hunter (not great) and your in the finals. Please...no excuses. Great teams have depth and figure out how to win. Alta did not miss a beat when their QB went down. Bingham has had 5-7 starters out of many games and had two QB's that it probably does not matter who plays. You never heard once an excuse from these team and I'm not a fan of either. If you have 8 D1 recruits that are any good, either the rest of the team is not good or your coaching staff is not good. Or maybe the D1 guys are not all that.
Titan Parent | 12:44 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Congratulations Davis! Way to beat a Region 4 team that had "8" DIVISION 1 PLAYERS on their team. Wow I can't believe a soft team from that weak Region 1 could possibly beat the team that was supposed to take the state title with ease. The Titans are cheering for you to go to the title game. Way to go Tanner! You're a great running back and we wish the best for you and the rest of the team. Make Region 1 proud and bring a Title Trophy up north!!!!
Good Game | 1:22 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Way to go Davis! Way to take it to PG. Does anyone have the phone numbers for the 8 Div 1 players? Snow College is looking for recruits....
HAHA | 1:31 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
So where have all the PG trash talkers been lately? I we heard all year long is "How come PG isn't ranked #1? They are the only undefeated team in the state!" Understand injuries hurt the team, but for a team that was hyped for having so many D1 commits, they didn't have it when needed. Maybe all these D1 commits can get an early start on learning their new playbooks now that they are watching the rest of the playoffs from the sidelines!

Good Game boys!!! on to the semi's !!!!
unfortunate  | 3:22 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
turn of evens for PG.

without injuries this team is state champions. but injuries are a part of the game and i would love to have seen them rise above it.

good luck next week davis.
HUNTER | 5:57 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
we comin for you davis!!! get ready to be smashed in the mouth. fear our family
observer | 5:59 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Too bad "the best high school football team ever" lost for the third time this year. Injuries make a difference. We'll never know what might have been. Congrats to Davis. Next week should be another classic when you meet a very determined Hunter team.
P Marsden | 6:18 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Two great teams with great young men on both sides. It's a shame that the publicity and hype around PG was focused so much on "Who's going Division I" rather than on a team of great young men. At some point the kids who weren't in that sanctified group of college picks had to wonder if they were just so much dog meat. Should be fun semi's. The UHSAA's unwillingness to take responsibility for really seeding high school sports may once again lead to a lopsided state final, but four good teams have a shot.

Grades
My short lived career is over, my last post is here. Thanks for reading.

Offense: C, Lewis did an admirable job. Harris, Hymas had some great runs, Fanaika did the bulk of the catching. It was good to see the return of Tanoai, but it was too little too late.

Offensive Line: C-, 1st drive was great. They had flashes of being sound but let down as the game wore on, thus the limited 2nd half rushing yards.

Defense: B, great 1st half with the exception of a couple big misqeues and penalties that kept Dart drives alive.

Defensive Line: B, Kruger continues to bounce quarterbacks like basketballs, Simpson had some amazing stops. Hinds proved to be too big of a force to stop.

Special Teams: D, the Viking achilles heal for most of the season. They needed more attention or needed to be staffed without the under classmen. Sorhaitz 43 yard kick was impressive.

Coaches: No grades here. It was apparent that the crowd was not behind them. Will the future look the same?
BROWN AND GOLD | 6:46 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
pleasant grove what happened. You had 8 d 1 players and were going to crush davis.I guess they wiil be home next week so sorry NOT
wheres all the talk at? | 6:54 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
whats up PG? I thought you guys were the best football team to ever step foot on a utah football field? Yeah not so great anymore are ya?
dhs | 7:46 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Tanner Hinds will have a great collegiate career either playing third string at Weber State or getting an occasional snap at Dixie College.
To: t hinds | 7:50 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Apparently you didn't see number 11 on PG, He looked quite a bit better at D end. Hinds is good but will never have Krueger's speed or quickness. Davis played good but would have lost if Lloyd would have played quarterback.
Finally! | 7:55 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
SHUT UP PG! you guys "had a free run through the state championship." finally..
Anonymous | 8:00 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
PG has EIGHT D-1 players and are 110-1 since little league. They are the greatest team that ever played. They will walk through the state championship.
Oh wait....they lost in the quarter finals???
whoops!
sorry pg!!!
I guess youll stop talking now!!!
d-one check | 8:01 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
How many d-1 players does it take to get to the semi-finals? Come on PG posters - this was your year -- the dream team -- utah's best ever -- keep dreaming
PG The best team ever? | 8:03 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
With what like 40 D1 players? and what? thats right I think you guys can get discount tickets next saturday to watch the real D1 players on the field at the Big house. (or you can stay home and watch it on TV) and next year? you can just stay home. With all your D1 players, I can just read the all state players in the paper in a few weeks and you guys won't even be mentioned?? No all state no nothing. Now thats crazy!!
re: thinds | 8:20 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I agree that tanner deserves a look at the D1 level, but calling his brother the best de ever in Utah is way off. I love the Darts, but Kruger was a one man wrecking crew. The tackles for Davis had no answer for him. Hinds was good at de, but he was nowhere as dominant as Kruger.
Congratulations to Davis on a hard-fought win. Sorry to see PG without their star QB. It might have made a difference, and maybe not, but I saw a lot of catchable balls dropped by their receivers.
Football Fan | 8:39 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Can anyone tell me how many D-1 players PG has?
Please..... | 9:14 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Say this is the end of the PG fan.
rankings | 9:26 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I still think Pleasant Grove should be ranked#1 How can team that was undefeated for so long not be #1?
Ya! | 9:29 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Ya someone deserves to win because they love the game! I guess everyone deserves to WIN! That kid is no D1 back, maybe JC.
DHS FAN | 9:33 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
This team reminds my of Davis' 1976 State Champions, they play as a team and never give up. It's still an up hill run, but we were the dark horse challenger in '76.
RE: RANKINGS | 9:46 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Coulda, shoulda, woulda, but didn't..so sad, too bad...
PG | 9:53 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
PG, you deserve what you are about to get on these blogs. Unbeatable TEAM, 8 D-1 recruits, maybe the best TEAM ever, great TEAM chemistry, blah, blah, blah. We've heard it all from you all season long. You lose 1 player and fall flat on your face. 7 D-1's left and you still can't get it done. Maybe those 8 D-1's aren't really at that level huh? Guess you weren't really that great of a TEAM afterall! I'm sorry for Lloyd but the rest of you - SEEEEEEE YA!
PG it's over | 9:56 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
PG lost for several reasons but the main 2 were special teams and coaching. We lost the field position battle all night. Our kickoffs were line drives that get returned too far. Our coverage team is always at a disadvantage. Punting, no distance, whats up. Also the missed PAT, what a joke. The last 6 games we've missed more kicks than we should in 10 years. The 2 minute drill at the end of the game was ridiculous. Poor preparation and lack of leadership killed us when it really counted. Sad to see so much promise wasted and this group of boys graduate. They were a special group that will be remembered. Best of luck to Davis you earned this win. See you next year PG......
re: unfortunate | 10:03 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
without injuries this team is state champions? Really? Every team has injuries, but PG was just better at complaining about it. There are so many teams that have key injuries every year that playing the "what if" game is pointless. PG is gone, and its Alta or Bingham for the title.
Krueger...... | 10:24 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
So again Krueger does not shake hands with the winning team? 2nd time I've heard that this season. What a classless act. I'm sorry he's heading to my favorite team the U of U. Krueger - grow up.
To PG Fan | 10:27 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Over Rated - clap clap clap, clap, clap!!!

To 7:46am - Thats why people hate PG because of stupid comments like that. I'm an Alta fan and I love the way Hinds plays. If PG had the Heart Hinds does they would have done a lot better this year. Maybe when you get your D-1 offers you think people should roll over for you and you don't have to try as hard. Its nice to see PG go down.

Any school that gets Hinds will be lucky.

I'm hoping for an Alta - Davis final.
J.J. | 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
what?? Wasn't it PG that complained all year long that they should be number one because they were undefeated? How could they lose? They had 8, count them EIGHT D1 commits! Wow! At the beginning of the year I liked Pleasant Grove. Now, I will cheer for anyone who is playing them to beat them. They have the most arrogant fans I have ever seen. What more did I expect coming from Utah County. Where the most "holier than thou" come from.
Kruger | 10:45 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Is it true that he wouldn't shake Davis players hands?
knizst | 11:03 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Its kind of funny to read all these comments. I think the PG fans deserve it though. All the talk about "greatest team ever," and complaints about not being ranked #1 have come back to bite them. When you talk the talk you have to be able to walk the walk and despite some good players, PG couldn't do it. There is more to being a great football program than having good players.
re: Krueger | 11:14 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
that is a pathetic act of unsportsmanship conduct. I would be so embarrassed if I had a kid that acted like that after a game. that is a classic case of someone thinking they are better than they really are. He belongs at Utah.
Stuck at PG | 11:17 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Hats off to Davis, they played tough, were well prepared. Even with the incredible amount of talent youwould have thought the PG coaches wouldn't be able to screw things up. The PG coaching is one the worse I have ever seen. They were not prepared for not only that game, but the entire season. It starts with Sampson. The next coach needs to come from outside. Hey Sampson, it is just more than a football game. If Sanderson is the next head coach, PG will never reach its potential. Sanderson learned his offense from NFL Madden, he has no experience, and it showed.
alta player | 11:24 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
you guys still are the best team in the state...
you lost its ok because i think you guys could beat them 9 out of 10 time... by far the hardest game i have ever played was our game keep your heads up... but cottonwood can leave theirs hanging they sucked...
i would not want to play you guys agin,,, loves
Football Fan | 11:27 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Region 1 is PG's Daddy!
Anonymous | 11:30 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009

Thank you | 12:13 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Davis high school

PG Kool aid drinker | 12:26 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Even if PG was healthy, they would have never beat Bingham ,Alta or Davis in the playoffs. PG seems to have a big roar but no bite in Football and Basketball. I saw and heard the same thing this year in football that I saw the last 2 years in basketball and that is how great PG was but they always seems to fade in the end.
PG Realist | 12:28 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
People, give it up please. Im sure the PG players and coaches really care what you say over an anonymous post on the internet. If you have a beef with PG, why didnt you go talk to those 8 D1 recruits? Why didnt you go sit with the PG fans to find out really what they are like. This is getting pathetic. one or two morons during the year post as PG fan and it upsets everyone.

Anyways, great job to davis and especially that running back. he is a real talent.. Also great job to jeff Harris of PG. Best player on PG's team this year in my opinion
PG Fan | 12:37 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
No im not the obnoxious "PG fan" but yes I go to PG games. Im not going say what would happen with or without injuries. Im not spouting off about PG having 8 Division 1 recruits. Im just hear to congratulate the boys for a fine season of PG football. Great Job

Please Please Please do not post on this article if you are not a fan of Davis or PG. It is not about you and if you do post negative comments its just making you look foolish.

Great Job again Vikings
Kruger | 12:38 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
All of you are wrong about kruger not shaking hands because i know for a fact he did. so stop saying he didnt because i saw him in the line with me at the end of the game
Stevo | 12:40 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Before everyone gets on PG's case for "trash talk", go look at Alta's articles over the year. Just as much going on. And degrading the other team afetr and Alta victory
Re Kruger | 12:48 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
I agree.FRom the stands I watched him take a knee right after the final whistle blew, but after a short time he got up and went to shake hands with the team
Davis player | 12:54 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Great job to the Davis team, lets take it to Hunter next week! As for the people bagging on the PG team. What is the deal? they hit hard but helped us up all night and were very classy. Must have had a serious beef with the vikings in a past life or something?? Good job PG you guys played hard.

Lets keep it rollin Darts!!!
