Nice TD son - I got the picture. Remember when you made 7 of them in one game playing on the 8 year olds team for coach Tim Burgess, Timmy and Tyler...I wish you weren't a senior.

Do you think it's about time to make a seperate Region that include only the private schools? Public
schools just can't compete with the "No Rules" schools
that dominant in whatever classification they are place in.

cry me a river. i suppose Delta has no rules when it comes to there wrestling... after all the the dominate year in and year out so should we all whine and have them moved up to 5 a... never mind they would dominate up there to, and do you know why? because like JD they are well coached they work hard and it pays off, so enough of the put the private schools in there own region you sound pathetic.
dustin | 9:49 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
thats why they are the Soaring Eagle they soar over the entire valley and find their prey and bring back to their nest, believe it or not this is how they came up with their name! Its just Democracy live with it because it will never change.
to; Dans Dad | 9:52 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Where was that at and how did JD find your boy, or was this recently just to boost confidence?
dandan | 10:35 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Im sorry i bet you are pretty embarrassed. good job on the 8 year old team!
Juan Diego?? | 10:43 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
UPSET ALERT everybody! Juan Diego needs to get off their high horse! Seriously who have they played this year?? The only good teams they have played, Park City was at the beginning of the season. The other team Highland ID killed them! Seriously juan diego thinks they are a lot better than they really are! So once again UPSET ALERT! Wasatch over Juan Diego!
JD Beat Springville | 11:31 a.m. Nov. 7, 2009
To "Juan Diego??": JD beat 4A Springville who is in the semifinals next week...
Anonymous | 12:28 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
hey JD good game, like i said earlier in the week there would be a lot of great match ups and close games. The games will just get better each week til the championships. Again let the kids play with great sportsmanship and finish the year without any major injuries.

To dandan dad there is always collage your kid has the skill and drive to play at the next level, hope to see it, for now how still has 2 more games to play. Forbidding that upset wasatch is talking about.
park city all the way | 3:10 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
park city is going to win state for sure
Reality | 3:49 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
JD should be 4A or 5A period. With no boundaries, their talent pool is limitless. It is beyond me why they don't want to play at the highest level possible in all sports. They are drawing from mostly 4A & 5A schools anyway. What is the joy in working over rural 3A schools?
Utah Fan | 4:34 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Wow to all you whiners seriously, there is recruiting in EVERY school in the Utah Valley, no one is innocent to say Juan Diego is the only one is ridiculous and ignorant, it was a good game, the better team won. Deal with it.
JD Fan | 4:51 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Cry me a river too! Boo Hoo!
Yeah. Cedar is a rural school!
JD wants to play up for more competition. UHSAA is the one too cry too, since you cry so well!
Good luck Wasatch. Bear River scored how many points on you? Yeah, you should best JD! Not!
SportsFan | 5:28 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
The "open enrollment" schools do have an advantage and yes, coaching is definitely relevant in any discussion of a school's athletic success... I think if you were to ask any program's coaching staff if they'd like to be able to "openly" recruit players (in any sport) they'd definitely say YES, and be the better for it. It doesn't mean that this would "make" or "break" their programs and this would only be relevant in larger areas such as SL valley and UT valley, etc. Rural areas are what they are - deal with it. In some sports, rural schools dominate (i.e. 3A Delta Wrestling, 4A Snow Canyon Girls Volleyball, etc). Like the BCS, it is what it is - make the best of it, or don't - it will definitely go on with or without you... Best of luck to the non-open enrollment schools - hey, if Hickory can win the 1952 Indiana State Championship, anything is possible!
to the whiners | 5:32 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Again if JD recruites they do not do a very good job of it... a 148 lbs O line tackle if they did recruit don't you think they would have recruited a bigger O line and all but a couple of the players play both ways give me a break small down USA, so Judge did'nt recruit this year but they did 4 years ago when they played in the the State championship game... played not won. get over it people give JD the credit they deserve or just keep crying whatever makes you feel better.
to sportfan | 5:44 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
very well put, Carbon is very good in girls volleyball, Delta is always at the top in wrestling, DH dominates in girls tennis it goes on and on, Football is a very visual and popular sport so it will always be the measuring stick when it comes to the recruiting talk... JD is very well coached, there players work very hard year in and year out they will always compete no matter what there talent pool is do to the systems they run. Good luck to all of the team left in the playoffs.
Fact is | 6:08 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Wasatch has dominated 13 of the last 17 years in wrestling Delta won 2 and Uinta won 2, lets get that straight! On the other hand Delta will more than likely dominate for the next 3 years until Wasatchs youth program comes out of a bad cycle they are in right now not a lot of kids wrestled that are getting into HS now but it is on its comeback.

All of these Rural programs have up and down terms as I would call it, it is hard to keep a small # of kids interested in 1 sport.

Kids who go to JD choose to go there for a particular sport they ARE NOT brought up through the Communitys programs and developed they are developed already by others in different communities and you also have depth where these rural schools DO NOT!
Sorry Wasatch | 7:48 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
As much as I would like to see Juan Diego get beat, you are not going to upset them. Juan Diego will win by at least 28. Wasatch isn't even top 5 in 3A. The only team that has a shot at beating JD is Park City. Park City will work Hurricane this week. While I think JD is a better overall team PC is good enough to beat them and will if they utilize their outstanding players and have a good game plan.
RE: Sorry wasatch | 8:34 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
How can wasatch not be in the top 5 of 3A they are in the final 4 teams DUHHH! and wasatch has played as tough of a playoff schedule as anyone. The Juan Diego Wasatch game will be close. Wasatch is starting to peak and since all their starters are healthy they are dangerous. Watch out 3A, Wasatch is legit
re: sorry wasatch | 8:49 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Wasatch is in the top 5 of 3A football, just check DN, SLTrib, or KSL. They even made it to the final four of the playoffs. Don't count wasatch out just yet. It worked for the Giants, it can work for the Wasps.
RE: Sorry Wasatch | 9:33 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
While I think Juan Diego is the current class of the 3A ranks, don't fool yourself if you think JD will "smash" Wasatch by "at least 28". JD beat a "mediocre" Cedar City team (at home) 28-3 yesterday, and I'm thinking on a neutral field that Wasatch will give them just a bit more trouble... As for Park City vs. Hurricane, I think you're a bit off on the prediction that PC will "work" Hurricane (who pounded Morgan 41-9 today - PC equally pounded Morgan 48-7 earlier this year). Park City "escaped" a mediocre Delta team 21-7, as the Trib put it:

"It took two goal-line stands and a late fourth-down conversion, but Park City defeated Delta 21-14 in a closer-than-expected 3A quarterfinal matchup Friday."

And while Park City is an extremely good football team and a legit top 5 program, I think you'll see a rematch of last year's Championship game - Juan Diego vs. Hurricane on November 20th...
RE: Sorry Wasatch | 9:51 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Must be another northern fan always discounting the southern teams. Good luck with your PC prediction working Hurricane. ALA put up how many points on PC.
Hurricane fan | 12:36 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
Didn't grantsville put up 28 on the amazing miners.. Hurricane will Without a doubt roll PC
Loveld | 1:47 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
After watching the Hurricane team first hand today, I believe they are legit. They are well balanced with size and speed. They are well coached. They have several RB's that can take it to the house. They easily handled Park City last year and look even stronger this year. So I"m not sure where the "NORTHERN HOMER" is coming from when he says "PC will work Hurricane". Must be looking through rose coloured glasses.
Me, Myself and I | 8:51 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
Congrats to Juan Diego and to Cedar on their solid season. Cedar you did something no team had done in 18 quarters, score. JD is a quality team and should make it back to the 3A finals. I look forward to watching them play hopeully Hurricane as I feel they're the best two teams in 3A.
STOP | 9:44 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
everyone needs to stop hating JD. they have a good program and good kids with lots of talent. they put a lot of time and work into practice and they bond together really well. it takes a lot of work to get good grades at juan diego and they have to maintain their grades as well as play football. they know how to manage their time. GO JUAN DIEGO! show everybody how good of a team you are! ♥
JD Fan | 8:33 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Someone help me remember, Please?
How many points did BEar River put up on Wasatch?
Didn't JD "smash" Bear River?
Let' See .....
Wasatch 10-2 ....
Barely beat Grantsville, Morgan, Lost to Westlake, Got THUMPED by Park City! Humm
JD 11-1
Shut Out West, Ben Lomond, Morgan, Juab, Beat Park City by 17, Beat 4A Springville by 18, Thumped Bear River & 5A Cyprus ...
Lost to Highland, ID ....
DEFENSE only given up 66 Pts (in Utah) (Avg only allow 7.3 pts/game.
Get Real Wasatch Fans ..... You will be lucky to score 2x with your high powered air attack, but YOU will never be able to stop or Offense ...
Wasatch allows 21 pts/game to WEAK teams at best ... What will JD do to your Defense ..... You got it .... Run all over it!
See you Thursday!
JD Defense-Cedar | 10:26 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
The strength of Juan Diego is their defense. Defense wins championships and their defense is for real. They have at least 5-6 first team all-state players or more on their defense and are fast. Good Luck Wasatch, but ill bet you dont even score 7 points. Great job to Cedar defense vs Juan Diego. They had them to 14 points with 5 minutes to go in the game.
The Official | 10:53 a.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Cedar - VS JD

I was impressed by the game Cedar brought. Well coached, determined players, and sportmanship.I would watch them play again, they have a very good program to build on... best of luck Redmen!... JD does have a tremendous championship defense that capitolizes on any mistakes made by an opponent. They are very good against the run as well as the pass, this wont be easy for Wasatch...
I have watched JD all season, and they have offensive weapons in the air, on the ground, and special teams...
This JD team does have discipline, heart, speed, size and team unity...by all indications... they will play in the finals...
Wasatch v. Juan Diego | 3:46 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
I sure hope coach North can figure out his special teams (kicking teams) problems. It appears that the two kick returns for touchdowns by Westlake didn't raise enough red flags because the issue was still not addressed v. Bear River. If we (Wasatch) don't figure it out we could well give up two or three scores and huge field position to a team like Juan Diego!
Re: Sorry Wasatch  | 4:12 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
Of course Wasatch are in the top 5! Did you make that comment without even looking right here at the DN rankings? Did you look at the Tribune rankings? They are number 5 and will obviously leap over Morgan because they beat them head to head AND Morgan didn't advance to the semi finals but Wasatch did. Fact is, they are at least number 4 and whether they can reach a higher ranking will be determined on the field this week.
RE; JD fan | 5:46 p.m. Nov. 9, 2009
You say wasatch only scores against weak oppenents. JD only scores when the other team turns the ball over. you would have to be a fool to think this wont be a battle.
JD Fan | 7:29 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
I guess I am a "Fool"!
You wouldn't be the first person to say that, but I guess you could ask any one of my 3 ex-wives to get that message loud and clear!
But here again, I will state the obvious ..... This Game JD vs. Wasatch will be a complete battle! LIke Ophrah Winfrey vs. Mike Tyson .... of course Mike Tyson being JD here ....

Of course JD scores when the other team turns the ball over, Duh! It's called a GREAT Defense with an Offense that capitalizes on there great play!

Thanks .... I'll be here all week, please tip your waitress!

Corrct me if I am wrong... does JD Fan use SARCASM to get his point of view across?
Anonymous | 9:35 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
hey JD fan didn't you say the only weakness JD has is its pass d. Well Wasatch is a passing team, so if they can protect the QB they have a shot. Problem is the QB wont get protection JD line will have 8 sacks in this game
Anonymous | 3:58 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
JD isn't that good of a team a very beatable team. when them and hurricane play they will get dominated.
any time | 6:23 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009
yes they will get beat JD that is just like last year right.....oh wait they won the championship..please just wait till the game is over then you can talk...JD is for real..
