Banks should tighten underwriting guidelines, to be sure, but they have gone to far and are now punishing credit-worthy individuals in addition to those who are not. Allowing non-credit worthy people to borrow is how this all started in the first place.

Over correcting has its disadvantages. And now banks can pay the price.
