Back in the '70s, these same people were worried that the new EPA regulations would cause an economic. Now our air is significantly cleaner--and the regulations, while making us safer, extending our lifespans, and protecting wildlife, never did have the impact on the economy that economists told us they would.
And Will--mistaking Newsweek for a scientific paper does make you unintelligent. Sorry about that.

Very well said Mr. Will.

Oh come on, Timj...you can do better than that. You know full well Mr. Will is not citing Newsweek as a scientific journal, but rather as a measure of alarmism of the times. It continues to fill the same role quite adeptly.

Why would Will cite polls when dealing with an issue of science?
mark  | 11:33 a.m. Nov. 8, 2009
And also the fact that he would call science a "church" really demonstrates his lack of knowledge of this issue and his lack of understanding of science.

For some reason some of those on the right have taken to equating science with religion. Funny that there are people that take the right seriously at all.

algor is done for! There is an 8 rear cooling behind us now & there NEVER was such a thing as global warming. The INTELLIGENT people KNOW this. Thank you, "IF" you post this TRUTH.
MetricWrench | 7:52 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009
Science is not like "church" but too many people treat science as their religion. Look up the word religion in the dictionary and tell me this doesn't apply to the way many environmentalists view their science.

Regarding church and science. Do we trust the little g or the Big G? It's the big G for me and my house. Little g messes up virtually everything except those duties delegated to it by the Constitution (ie Defense). All other duties by decree belong to us the people or us the states. We all want clean air and clean water, but we also want to eat and live in heated homes. These loony lefties will have us all being hunter-gatherers again if they get their way.
Two kinds of "Science" | 11:24 p.m. Nov. 8, 2009
There are only two kinds of science: Junk science and incomplete science. Everything we think we know will eventually turn out to be either completly wrong or incomplete as new things are discovered! Putting your faith in science is too risky because all science is incomplete, which means your faith will be incomplete!

But Bill, you would be wrong.

'The recent Internet chatter about cooling led NOAA's climate data center to re-examine its temperature data. It found no cooling trend.
"The last 10 years are the warmest 10-year period of the modern record," said NOAA climate monitoring chief Deke Arndt. "Even if you analyze the trend during that 10 years, the trend is actually positive, which means warming."

"To talk about global cooling at the end of the hottest decade the planet has experienced in many thousands of years is ridiculous," said Ken Caldeira, a climate scientist at the Carnegie Institution at Stanford.

Ben Santer, a climate scientist at the Department of Energy's Lawrence Livermore National Lab, called it "a concerted strategy to obfuscate and generate confusion in the minds of the public and policymakers"

Earlier this year, climate scientists in two peer-reviewed publications statistically analyzed recent years' temperatures against claims of cooling and found them not valid.

Of the 10 hottest years recorded by NOAA, eight have occurred since 2000, and after this year it will be nine because this year is on track to be the sixth-warmest on record.'-statisticians reject global cooling

Super captilism is evil. Give the owners of corporations, the stock holders, the right and duty to vote for salary and bonous payments to corporate executives. Get rid of the Federal Reserve. Term limits for elected polititions. Restrictions on lobbists.

20-30 years ago they were telling us to stop having children, too. Overpopulation is killing us!

Americans did stop having children. Brought our fertility rates down to replacement level, in fact.

But we still have huge population growth, thanks to immigration. And the zero population folks? Suddenly all we hear are...crickets. Americans having children = bad. Immigrants having children = good.

Mark, 11:50 p.m., re Ken Calderia, "has experienced hottest decad in many thousands of years." Didn't he ever hear of the Vikings in Greenland? When they first came there, they crew crops and raised cattle with no trouble, then the climate changed. When they arrived there, it was durring the Medieval Optimum where the climate was warmer for a few hundred years, not a few decades. And this was not only there but europe and north america. And then came the Little Ice Age. It grew too cold for their crops and their cattle died and they had to leave. The Little Ice Age also affected europe and north america. Temperatures dropped not only there but, also in europe and north america. Crops changed in countries because they could no longer grow there. If a volcano erupted durring that time, there would be a year without a summer. These are recorded facts, not theories. By the way, our president wants us to go back to pre-industrial temps. The only problem with that is, we were just coming out of the Little Ice Age. I really don't think the worl wants those temps. again.
