Viewpoint: Berlin division stronger than ever

I was Sttioned in Germany from 1965-1968, A-Berg, Wiesbaden, Fulda.

We where always at the ready to defend the West against the Communist Threat.

Unlike most people who just did their time and hated it. I traveled when and wherever I could.

The USO had a tour going someplace twice or three times a month on the weekends usually Saturday. Germany shut down quite a bit on Sunday.

Point is I got to visit many places often alone because I perfered the Safety of my long distence Pen Pal Relationship.

We did get Married and I would love to say we have spent 40 plus wounderful years togeather. However I can't because a War and Life got in the way.

I went to Berlin a long time before the Wall Fell, The East Germans wouls Shoot you weather you tried to get out (Escape) or Break In. Their Border was very closed both directions.

These people where kids when I was in Germany.

I am glad that they got togeather, got through the social mind wash and can apparently still get it done.

Of course there are going to be differences because of the Degree of Seperation.

Separated by a wall and a generation of hateful propaganda, it's going to take a while to mend.
