I live in the community and I don't support the killing of a person. This clearly was not self defense. Keep the bail where it is.
Shooting someone six or seven times because they're armed with a chair seems a weak excuse for self defense. One shot I could maybe understand, but not unloading it into a family member.
I live in the community also. I also practice what I preach and don't judge another until I know all of the FACTS. In this country we are innocent until proven guilty... please withhold all judgement until you know what REALLY happened. I have listened to the 911 call it is SELF DEFENSE. You have a god given right to defend yourself from imminent bodily injury or death. I say lower the bail. Steve is a good man who has caught criminals off of the street, has no prior record and carries a concealed weapons permit. He is of no danger or threat to the community.
You innocent until proven guilty, do not know what really happened either. Like the others said, one shot maybe but six or seven. COME ON! Get real! There is much more to this story. What was the relationship between Steve and his bro in law beforehand? More to come I am sure...
Yet we know the "Guilt" of the teacher in Ogden who was NOT charged...
Strange, but I do not believe that we need courts in Utah with so many Utahns that can tell guilt and innocence with a snap of the finger.
Some cases are exactly what they seem. I don't know, but 6-7 shots into a guy that only had a chair? Musta been a big chair or a sharp one, maybe a chair used in other murders. Maybe it was an ironwood chair, a chair with mystical powers or maybe the chair was controling the guy? Coulda been almost anything.
That brother in law was a meth addict, you don't know how strong someone can be coming at you high on drugs. When you are trained to use a gun, if you are threatened you are taught to "shoot to kill". If you wound them, they can grab the gun and hurt or kill you. All judgement should be withheld until the court does its job.
If i would him it would be scary if your brother-in-law charged at you i would od done the same thing but i would of shot him once not 6 or 7 times... P.S.i think the guys is guilty
