Sen. Bennett has HIS finger's in this pie way to long. Vote him out in 2010. Separation of powers, checks and balances, enumerated powers, independent state governments, frequent elections, impeachment processes, the right to bear arms, an independent private sector, property rights, the right to petition government for redress of grievances, freedoms of speech and press etc, was all created through Judicial Activist Judge's, and, Special Interest groups plus bureaucrats, for control of power, through these people. A fine example, of this, is in a new DVD, that just came out, titled "FOOD, Inc.", a Robert Kenner film. In it, you'll see the few GIANT's that control everything we do, how we live and what we are forced to eat etc., these same people have powerful seats, and are in Congress also, apointed by the President as well, both on the GOP and Democrat side, and, with these people running the show, we can't and will not be able to limit government ever, until they are all gone from those seats, no matter how long we all whine about a smaller government. It's time to stand up, and, face the truth.

In March of this year Senator Bob Bennett was rated one of the ten most liberal Republicans in the Senate by Human Events based on the American Conservative Union Ratings for 2008. Why Bennett would pay money to convince voters he is Conservative is beyond me.

(A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in subparagraph (B), a health insurance issuer shall make available supplemental coverage for abortion services that may be purchased in conjunction with enrollment in a HAPI plan or an actuarially equivalent healthy American plan.

(B) RELIGIOUS AND MORAL EXCEPTION- Nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to require a health insurance issuer affiliated with a religious institution to provide the coverage described in subparagraph (A).

Yes, that's what we need more of thse days. More ranting and railing?? I'm sorry brother chuck, but I have read your rant several times and it doesn't flow for me. Senator Bennett is a good man who has served the State of Utah well during his time back there. He is now a powerful member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Utah needs all of the help it can get in competing for its fair share of power and influence in comparison to other states. you throw him out now after 17 years, Utah has to start all over at the bottom of the pecking order. there will be no shortage of bright-eyed bushy tailed ambitious people who believe it's their foreordained right to be a Senator, but absent a few sour votes, Bennett deserves to be re-elected in my opinion. He likely only has 1 more term in him anway. Why throw him out right at the Zenith of his power, influence, experience? Only in Utah would Bennett be considered a "liberal." That's an absolute joke. He's solidly conservative.

It's possible to be so progressive that you run full-circle, and from a grander view, are actually regressing, especially with regards to social and economic policies that promote family decay, collective responsibility versus individual, and emphasizing a top-town governance otherwise known as a "nanny-state" in its earlier stages, which history has shown can mestatize quite quickly into fascist or marxist type dictatorships.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm over the past decade, a practice of paying a spouse with political donations that she supported banning last year. Financial Leasing Services Inc. (FLS), owned by Paul F. Pelosi, has received $99,000 in rent, utilities and accounting fees from the speaker's "PAC to the Future" over the PAC's nine-year history. The payments have quadrupled since Mr. Pelosi took over as treasurer of his wife's committee in 2007, Federal Election Commission records show. FLS is on track to take in $48,000 in payments this year alone - eight times as much as it received annually from 2000 to 2005, when the committee was run by another treasurer. Lawmakers' frequent use of campaign donations to pay relatives emerged as an issue in the 2006 election campaigns, when the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal gave Democrats fodder to criticize Republicans such as former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas and Rep. John T. Doolittle of California for putting their wives on their campaign and PAC payrolls for fundraising work.

The Congress and Senate and Senator Bob Bennett plus Hatch spend our money on personal foolishness, anything for a vote.

The House of Representatives think that proving a baseball player took steroids is more important than the millions of really pressing issues they were elected to deal with.

The whole point boils down to this. The people in Washington just ain't listening to the people who sent them up there. They turn a deaf ear to the problems that are eating this nation alive while Henry Waxman and company follow a television camera around like a dog after a juicy bone.

That's not the way it's supposed to work, they're supposed to be =he House of Representatives. They're supposed to be representing we the people, =nstead they're grandstanding. If some pitcher who played a couple of years in the majors and had an undistinguished career had done washtub full of steroids a day I'll guarantee you Senator Bob Bennett and the Congress couldn't care less. And to "Bennett is the guy," methinks you give the Eager folks to much credit. Just because you are anti Bennett doesn't mean you have to be pro Eager. Bennett's record stands on its own. Why do we keep voting the same idiots into office so they can get more and more power? They need to remember that they work for us. Here in Utah, we give our politicians free reign based on their party affiliation. We need to be watching the foxes who are guarding the henhouse a little more closely.

The problem with the idea, "Health-care reform should be based on free-market principles", is that these principles mean that insurance companies and the health care industry stand to make the most profit by charging exorbitant amounts and covering very little. Rather than trying to hurt American's with these concepts and completely trying to defeat healthcare, perhaps the Republican party could devise a "non-profit" insurance company.

This absurdity of no government health care flies in the face of all posters who will one day use Medicare.
Sometimes the logic speaks more to cognitive dissonance than to awareness.

Sad that this once fine leader has decided that the politics of confusion and ideology is the rhetoric of the campaign. The time has come for us to put down our ideological swords and focus on real solutions to the problems of your time. The evolution of knowledge moves forward, we need to cultivate new leaders who can respond accordingly.

To the vociferous know-it-all criticizing Senator Bennett for having "government run" health care through FEHB. You are completely wrong. I'm a federal employee as well. Our health plans are not government run! THe government simply pays for it as an employer-provided benefit, just like private sector. The government employee can choose from several plans, but it's the private insurance providing the coverage, not the federal government. So get your facts straight, people! There is so much disinformation out there. Democrats have spun this thing into a huge mess in order to make a straw-man to enact their socialistic plans. If Pelosi care, heaven forbid, is signed into law, it WILL be federal control of all of our plans, regardless of public or private. If you loved the government's response to Hurricane Katrina, or getting flu vaccine out this fall, then you'll absolutely Love Pelosi care, and the huge tax increases it brings in order to cover Illegal aliens and abortion. (They'll just sneak those provisions back into the final bill in the conference committee). VOTE OUT THE DEMOCRATS WHO VOTED FOR THIS BILL!

He promised us only two terms and now is running for a 4th. To be fair, he is head and shoulders above Hatch. As for his new book out on religion I admire it and want to read it, but the cynic in me says if he got the idea in 2002 to write it, why publish it now, unless it is to be rolled out when he needed reelection. Bob voted for TARP for which I do honestly admire him. Romney would have also voted for TARP.
