As Boozer goes, so do the Jazz. That's what happens when your entire offensive game plan runs through one player.
Way to go Boozer! | 12:03 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
This is what we needed. Thanks for stepping up tonight. Great showing and really improved defense. Keep up the good work.

Almost entire first half ball went to Boozer easy lay up to boost confidence .
I could not recognize Spurs they were so flat.

Congrats to Boozer | 12:08 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
He really put it together tonight. I do not give a rip about anything he has said during the year but I do care a lot about how badly he has played. I am glad to see him come out of his shell and play up to potential.

I have no problem with keeping Boozer as long as he plays well. However, I would not over pay him as he is injury prone. I also feel the Jazz have to develop Fez and Koufos as they are tall and play defense.

However, Boozer had a great night and hopefully many more.

Now if we can get this kind of play on the road.

I guess I feel bad for posting a positive comment.. The Jazz played great. Sorry guys... I suppose I'll see you all at the next Jazz loss.
todd to homertone | 12:38 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I for one if The Jazz lose any game the coach coached, the players played well to best of ability, and the other team that night was just better I doubt anyone could say too much.

Sacramento is reeling (1-4). No letdowns please. The only time for the most part Sac played any defense was the ot win vs Memphis.

Now theyr'e starting point status up in the air due to his arrest today (Nocconi)
Keep Boozer | 1:59 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Play like you did last night Booze, and I'll shut my mouth! Continue to show heart, hustle and commitment and I'll back you!!!

Good game!!
Go Booze | 2:03 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Congrats for having your decent game of the year. i guess it will be back on cruise control for the rest of the year.

Time for Deron to step forward... again.

Oh, I am just so excited that I just can't hide it. Where can I find a mortgage for some playoff tickets. I knew the Jazz would bounce back because they are going to win the championship this year. I just know it. I dreamed a dream of Doogie Howser running the pick and roll with Erkel. Believe it or not, they were wearing Jazz jerseys. The Jazz will beat Boston in the finals if their star player Mo Better doesn't get kidnapped by some crazy beantowners. So no more negative Nellie stuff please. Just say GO JAZZ and I will burst in joy. GO JAZZ. Play that funky music white boy. I have no idea what is bleeding through my keyboard right now.

Great defensive effort! Thats all I ask for is EFFORT!

Tim Duncan is aging and the Spurs have no center. No wonder the Jazz scored 113 points against them. Don't hold your breath, but maybe, just maybe the Jazz will finally end that long ugly losing streak in San Antonio and win a game there this year. This game was kind of a statement game for the Jazz, they have talent but I don't think they're at the level to compete with teams like Denver and LA. Utah will have to play sound defense each and every game in order to reach the elite level.

Who is Wes Mathews? Fabulous game from a young unknown last night. Looks like a kid who understands the opportunity rpesented to him. He was brought on to sit third seat at the two spot, playing like he wants the starting job. That spot has been available for the last ten years.

I don't want to get overly excited, but is this kid the answer to our biggest hole? I am going to follow this kid close. Curious to know if last night was a flash in the pan, or if their is some substance there.

the reason that denver and la are "elite" teams is because they play hard every game. i've been critical of them in the past but i have to give this game to booze and coach sloan. contrary to my belief, booze CAN move laterally on the defensive end of the floor (who woulda thunk?) and stop the dribble penetration. maybe the players were just following matthews example (defense is why he made the team). this was the first game against sa i've seen in years where ginobli and parker didn't live in the paint. i'm also glad that the jazz finally bought into coach sloans game plan. his system works if the players run it and don't do thier own thing. great win jazz
Houdini | 9:10 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Hey where did all the Boozer and Sloan haters go....??? that`s what I thought, just bandwagon jumpers, you`re all back on now, will fall off as soon as we lose a game, and what about Jerry, giving that Matthews (rookie) kid 24 minutes, proves that he`ll give you time if you produce, which he is doing
plyxply | 9:32 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I was a little disappointed in the finish in this one. How are we supposed to get two top picks if we keep running all over the place playing defense as if we actually cared. I thought Coach Sloan could've slipped Fes in there for a bit late, or at least should've done something to kill the momentum. We did a great job of looking good but tanking in two games, this one we could've lost without raising too many eyebrows. Come on guys, remember the Alamo and what SA did to get where they are. Groundhog Day is getting old.
Stunning!! | 9:55 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Boozer gets 2 blocks. 2!

Now why can he do that? I mean afterall he had 7 in 32 games last season.

Effort.

Raising his arms above his waste and attempting to block the ball is a good start.

Look at what happens sometimes--you block the ball.

I am still not a believer though that you can be effective ENOUGH defensively with Boozer and Okur on the floor..unless by some strange miracle that you can get both of them to play consistently like they did last night.

Not likely.
Cowboy Joe to Houdini | 10:49 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I have supported and stated that Boozer is not at fault. I also have said that he will have a monster year this year.

Slown on the other hand one game doesn't make him a great coach and leader. I still think that he is passed his prime and step down now on his terms.
He is out of touch with motivating todays players. Yes be played Mathews last night, but why isn't he playing Fez who also has produced this year? Because he is biased. Guaranteed if Korver and Miles were playing Wes would not be playing or even on the team.

Can anyone object to that?
Anonymous | 10:52 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Boozer will always play big when the national spotlight is on the team because that is the type of player he is, selfish. The problem for the Jazz are the other 76 games that are broadcasted locally where he will kill us. Get rid of this guy, fast.
Miles | 11:03 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
@Houdini: With Korver, CJ and Harpring out, did you expect Fes to play more? Matthews is his only choice to backup right now....Clueless Jerry had nothing to do with the win last night and everything to do with the defeat in Dallas.
Let's see how they play | 11:04 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
against NY (run and gun), BOS (probably the best team right now) and CLE (Fez vs Shaq could be interesting).

The Jazz have yet to even come close to winning a road game and could not beat HOU (run and gun) at home.

After last night we at least know they are capable of playing well. Now can the do it consistently and on the road?
dont... | 11:17 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
jump on the boozer train just yet. he played good in one game of how many since the end of last season? one. his problem now, is that he showed he can play defense and with heart, so he has to keep it up or us fans are going to get on him even more. keep it up booz. we need your trade value to increase so we can get something for you.
todd to houdini | 11:44 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
You have been frustrated too Houdini, do not say you have not been. I love this Matthews guy, we are in agreement that makes mr CJ "obsession" love child CJ MIles makes him more worthless unless he turns it around when he comes back..

I do not hate SLoan. You have read my posts when he got inducted into the Hall, and yesterday I wrote he is maybe MIDPAK coach in this league, not the best but worst either. For example, I rate Jerry ahead of George Karl, Nelson, Westphal, even Scott, Frank etc....

If this team played to its potential, coached with vigor, flexibility and a game plan, Players focused and executing and we lose, I would not criticize us losing.

It is when they do not do these things, and mentally, they surrender, cannot handle adversity and crumble which basically all started with the Miami loss last year there in 3 overtimes.

Grant Napear the Kings announcer who i speak to on occasion agrees with the SLoan Supporters, and feels he is a great coach. I disagree with that, but still respect his and everyones opinion..
Wayde Jonsin .......boozer..... | 12:24 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
..............played hard because the game was on TNT!

That is why, so don't make your post-season plans just yet.

As for me..........well I am going to get a raise no matter what. That is what I am going to tell my boss this afternoon.
stock2malone | 12:30 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I still think booz is worthless. he had a decent game. How many shots did he take to get those points. How many dumb mistakes did he have? like catching the ball in the post bringing it below his waist and then bringing up to get blocked. I learned in elementary school that is the thing you AREN'T supposed to do. you would think a professional of such great caliber as boozer (insert sarcasm for those who don't get it) would also get that.

He also still relies to heavily on the fade-away. what kind of POWER forward only does fadeaways.. he's a big dude. why can't he take the ball and put it down somebodies throat? it's ridiculous!!! absolutely sad.

get him out of Salt lake and this once proud team.
one game doesn't say it all. they won at home. they usually always do. back-to-backs and road games are still their achilles.
how's that for your band wagon theory houdini?
catch 22 | 12:45 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
if the jazz keep winning, we're helping the likes of sacramento to increase their chance to land top lottery pick. Knicks should loose all the way!

Awesome | 2:19 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Nice job, Boozer. Best player on the court last night, next to Williams. Also, how about Wes Matthews! If that's what the future looks like for this kid, then we're in for a fun trip as Jazz fans.
Blauch | 2:33 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Sloan changed the rotation. AK came out at the 8 minute mark and then at the beginning of the second and 4th quarter Price and AK came in when Williams went out. This gives the Jazz a play maker with the second unit. This was a huge adjustment.

This was really the key where the Jazz did not blow the lead in the beginning of the forth (like Denver) and they were allowed to give Williams a rest to finish the quarter so we did not blow it like (Dallas).

I have been negative to Boozer because when they run the low post play to Boozer over the last 30 games he has not been produced. Against Dallas the Jazz ran 8 pick and role plays with Williams and Boozer - we scored 4 points. Passing to Boozer down on the block he has been worthless

Boozer has taken over twice as many shots a Millsap this season (Boozer-74 shots, Millsap-36 shots). Millsap has scored 49 points this season which would mean that Boozer should have scored twice that 98 points. Boozer only scored 78 points. It was only one game
Anonymous | 3:04 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Booz is often injured, and has had his share of bad games this year. But he is a two time all star and Olympian. He just scored 27 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in a game. To call him a bad player and not good enough in that game tells us more about the person typing than the basketball player.
Houdini to Todd | 7:25 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Yep you`re right I do get frustrated because we heve all the pieces in place,I want to see more Fes,but against the big bulky centers, last night Duncan would`ve eaten him up,and to Miles,Matthews probably would`nt even be on the team if Korver and CJ were healthy, but they`re not and I like what I`ve seen so far,I`m willing to give this kid a chance,if he beats both KK and CJ out of a job,oh well
