Combat stress is a terrible thing to bear.
been there done that.

But this man was under Islamic religious stress.

His Koran teaches that it is OK to kill your persecutors.

I do admire the Mormons that were persecuted for over a hundred years and were taught by their scriptures that they should never kill their persecutors/neighbors.

I never want to be someone who profiles wrongly but the world we live in demands that I notice his name. Was this a planned killing? An honor killing?

Stress from a war is a real bad thing to get a grip on?its alot worse if you have been on the line durring a war, but it sounds like this shrink is fantising his own war,there for he should get the firing squad; he is adiscrase to the whole military..

I have three brothers in the Army. Two have been to Iraq and one is going to Kosovo. They have families. It is an honor to have them protect our country, our lives, our freedom. We need to realize what they do for us. Freedom has a price. This case is very sad. It just shows the stress that war causes. To the families who have been affected, we offer our prayers and love. We need to pray for our troops, our families, and our land.
The lord primises us, "When you are righteous, you will prosper in the land." It's that simple. He loves us. It's our choices and mistakes that bring about war, confusion, and distruction. Sometimes we are just an innocent target of someone elses rage. Still, in the end, we all face our maker. We can live the best we can and he knows it.

Him being a Muslim is not the main issue. This guy simply did NOT want to deploy to Iraq. According to records, he had never deployed outside the country before so we combat stress can be ruled out.

You can look at his name and think he was a sleeper, waiting to do evil deeds for his religion. But if you read the stories, you'll see he was born in the U.S. Yes, he had a middle eastern name and he was Islamic but don't rush to judge that he committed the crimes in the name of his religion. I think he just went off the deep end because he was set to be deployed. And if there were warning signs, as some stories say, he should have been pulled and evaluated more closely. I'm sure that will now become protocol but 13 people had to die to get stricter protocol. Sad.

@anonymous: Maybe you should ask "shall not kill." They seem to know what was going on and what was in this man's head.

My thoughts: Before we speculate, let's wait and see what facts come out first. For instance: There are reports the shooter yelled Allahu Akbar, but it has not been confirmed. The news reported the shooter was dead, but that's not the case. Before you act the fool, find out the facts.

For six years this man listened to the horrors of war from men returning from Iraq.

And then the Army said to him "That horrible place you've been hearing about? We're going to send you there."

Simple people think "Its a Muslim thing", and believe "if we kicked all the Muslims out of the military, we'd be safe". They ignore the other news, of post-traumatic-stressed "good Christian soldiers" killing their families and neighbors.

The War against Terrorism goes on, BUT DOES THE PRESIDENT AND THE DEMOCRAT PARTY REALIZE IT?

IT IS TIME FOR THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS TALK TO END AND IT IS TIME TO FINISH THE FIGHT!

Mr. President when are you going to take your hands off your eyes and support the troops in Afganistan and when is THE FIGHT AGAINST ISLAMIC FASISM GOING TO BE FOUGHT FULL FORCE?

What's next a school, mall, gymnasium, christian church service or what?

RADICAL ISLAM does not provide a mechanism to function peacefully with other religions or even peaceful followers of Islam!

It is time for the military to follow stricter recruitment policy and maybe start thinking about a draft so we are prepared as a nation for this war and all the other threats we have around the world: Islamic Radicalism, North Korea, Iran, China, Russia, and all the other locations in South America and Asia.

The United States of America is under attack by Radical Islam everywhere the opportunity exists! It is time to be ready for it! Losing Soldiers and Civilians in the United States is UNACCEPTABLE POLICY!!!

Losing soldiers overseas, for LACK OF ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT IS UNACCEPTABLE POLICY MR. PRESIDENT!

Ironically, there are few gun-free zones as gun-free as a military base. Everyone is disarmed and defenseless except the MPs and those bent on harming others. I hold the authorities who establish gun-free zones just as accountable for the deaths as the shooter himself.

need not apply for a militarty based education or as members of our armed forces. They are undependable, just as German sympathisers were in World war 2. We do not need this kind of trouble in our armed forces. God bless our troops and America.

A Doctor who was in need of a doctor. His apparent postings on the net should have put him off post. No less abominable this event was the casualness with which it was handled by the President who had to make political points before even mentioning the horror that had been committed.

Terroism strikes on American soil, again. Where is Jack Bauer when you need him? Hopefully we will soon elect a government that can make good decisions, not just read a teleprompter and give "shout outs" to medicine man Joe.

I look forward to a new, and competent "Commander in Chief".

I was both angered and saddened. First saddened for those that lost their lives in a "safe" environment amongst fellow soldiers of the American military. Second, angered that at the complacency of the military (perhaps political influence) that obviously enabled the "unstable" doctor to carry out the deed. He alone is undoubtedly responsible, and this should embolden our diligence against future complacency and terrorism! Full support to the families!
