What are the chances that the state will approach it's own budget crisis in as rational a manner as did Salt Lake Countty?

How sad to have the media, the watchdog for the citizens, put forward such a pathetic defense of past editorial positions. What was conveniently left out of the article is that fact that residents in Unincorporated County now pay a separate fee for fire service on top of the taxes they pay for their "municipal services." These two tax assessments far exceed the municipal tax in cities throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Now, according to an article in today's Deseret News, the residents of Unincorporated County will be paying a third tax (disguised as a fee) for police service. Now under the new form of government residents in Unincorporated County will be paying three taxes that far exceed any tax increase under commission government. Most people don't fully understand the information provided on their Property Tax Notice from the County. If you live in Unincorporated Salt Lake County take a moment and see if you have both a Municipal Services Tax and a separate Unified Fire Service tax. Prior to the new form of government there was one Municipal Services tax and fire servcies were included at a lower rate! Sad commentary on the media.

Sorry, the budget can be cut more. We all have done it and it hurts the poor and the children and the elderly for families to have less money to care for their own. The deseret news shows it big government agenda. As for your previous support for the current government format, if you give government more power, they will use it and take more of your money.
