Jackson's comment on the last "four years of stability" seems a bit askew considering the fact that she has been in office only two years. And that is following the exit of the previous Mayor under less-than-perfect circumstances. I truly hope Jackson steps up her game for the city's economic development program - but let's hope she gets someone to help her with the math. And remember: half of the city wishes she was on her way out.

Re Check your math: In my vast experience with the media, it wouldn't surprise me if Jackson said two years, but somehow four years was printed. Stuff like this happens all the time, so I wouldn't bank on anything printed in a newspaper as 100% factual.
Congrats to Mayor Jackson | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 7, 2009
Although less than a quarter of the registered voters of Eagle Mountain voted, I do think it is an important milestone that EM actually had a mayor re-elected! Remember also that the strides made by Mayor Jackson in her first term are after overcoming the debacle of the office made by the previous mayors. The fact that so few residents voted, rather than "half the city wishes she was on her way out", I think it could also mean "we're satisfied with her performance and have confidence that she'll be re-elected so I don't need to vote." Anytime a new candidate enters the ring of course those supporting his nomination are going to vote (the half of the 22%); the bigger story is the 75% that didn't vote and so must be satisfied with Jackson's performance, right?

@Congrats

Not necessarily. 22% voter turnout is pretty typical. Which means there wasn't any "I stayed home because I like the status quoe" effect going on. The people who normally vote, did vote. And it was a really tight race.

She is the first mayor to be re-elected??? Not to a 4 year term?!?! What a snow-job! She runs a daycare out of her mayorial office, she has supported developers interests over the city, millions of dollars are missing from funds while she has served, she has indebted the city by millions for having the city attorney host multi-battled lawsuits for actions she has been intimately involved in. Don't hold your breath.....what has gone around by this person is certainly coming back round.
