The Good Samaritan Trail.

Christ taught in the parable of the good samaritan to take additional action, in addition to pray and spiritually bless them, to also take care of their physical needs (eg. Nursed them, pay for the stay at the inn through full recovery)

So if you cannot afford your healthcare charges, go to your church and see if they practice what they preach? Do they provide for those healthcare needs?

Churches are given tax breaks and charity status from the government because their purpose is to be helping their people with their needs.

If churches cannot because of unaffordable and outrageous healthcare costs, maybe they should demand healthcare change from the government.

Republicans seek to abolish any and all health care reform.

Had control of the House, Senate and White House for 6 years, yet did nothing concerning the exponentially increasing costs for health care.

But now they want you to believe they really are for reform, just as long as it's their way.

Sorry, you guys had every opportunity to fix this mess under your terms, but were too concerned with...well actually nothing was done under Bush except start a war based on incomplete information.

Much of the problem we're having with rising health care costs can be laid at the feet of the government. The only kind of government changes necesary are for government to get out of the way and let the free market weed out those medical providers who are not fit, then put some action behind the laws that are already in place to prosecute violators of the peoples trust. It's not difficult to see that the greatest violators, if this bill were to pass, would be the bums in Washington right now who are trying to scam the public with this bill that is purposely ambiquous. Obama, Reid, and Polosi, and their other cohorts are lying through their teeth.

Don't be such HYPOCRITES.

A significant portion of health insurance premiums go not for actual medical care but for private jets, generous CEO salaries and underwriters who decide when to drop patients who become too expensive, according to audits done at insurance companies.

A significant portion of health care costs goes to pay the astronomical medical malpractice insurance premium that doctors MUST purchase to stay in business. Where in the health care bill is tort reform addressed? How many of our fine legislatures are lawyers or indebted to those in that profession? Do they even talk about this at all? No! When tort reform is actually put on the table, then we'll really know that they are doing all they can to keep health care costs down.

“If you’re a family that’s making $250,000 a year or less, you will see no increase in your taxes. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your personal gains tax, not any of your taxes.” But now President Obama is finding that keeping the promises made by candidate Obama is next to impossible. You just can’t borrow a trillion dollars for an economic stimulus, enact a new trillion dollar health care entitlement, and increase discretionary spending by 12% through 2019 (including doubling federal education spending) and then expect to pay for it all by taxing the most productive Americans. Eventually the moment comes when reality catches up to campaigning . That moment is fast approaching.

Congress EXEMPT??? | 8:56 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
GOOGLE: Morning Bell Obama Middle Class tax hike and read what both Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and National Economic Council Director Larry Summers said about Obama's PROMISE not to raise taxes.

Obama promised "Not one dime," increase for anyone who makes less than 250K. We are about to see that's a lie.

And why is congress EXEMPT from Obamacare? It should be required of them first and foremost if its required of us. Classic "do what I say, not what I do" from liberals.

TRUE STORY - Niki Tsongas(D) MA
CONSTITUENT: My question to you, Congresswoman Tsongas, is that if this is such a great plan, why did you opt out of it when you took the vote [loud applause, standing ovation]?
TSONGAS: People often say why don’t the American people have what those of us in Congress have. [Audience erupts] Let me explain what I have. Let me explain what I have. What I have is a tremendous array — you know, last year when I went to a discussion — what I have is a tremendous array of choices. And I made a choice based on what I was willing to pay for and what made sense in terms of coverage for me and my family. [Audience shouts out: "We want choice! We want choice!]

If Congress can CHOOSE to get on obamacare(which they AREN'T for good reason), why can't we?

To "Article should be tittled... | 4:27 p.m." you are picking your stories that you read aren't you. Just a couple of days ago there was a stroy about the Republican plan for healthcare reform that actually had provisions that could lower costs.

To "Anonymous | 6:05 p.m." since when is 10% to 15% for overhead astronomical? That is a small potion of the premiums that you pay. The overhead for your insurance is 1/3 to 1/2 the rate of the federal government. The Federal government has at least 31% overhead rate. If overhead is the problem, why look to the federal government, they are apoor example of efficiency.
6 to 8 weeks | 1:14 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
At least we all know the drill; the next time you call the doctor to schedule an appointment, just be prepared for the standard government response:

"fill out this form; it'll take 6 to 8 weeks to process"
Good Samaritan Twisted | 2:38 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I'm so sick of misguided people twisting the Savior's teachings to suit their political ends. Stop it. If you want to turn public policy debates into Sunday School, then we ought to have a theological forum to do that in. However, the "Lord's Way" in my opinion is all about free will and agency, and encouraging people to make good choices and to (as He told Adam) "eat thy bread by the sweat of thy brow." In other words, WORK, people! Take personal responsibility for yourselves and your family. Don't expect the big government Gravy Train to bail you out of your responsibility. That is definitely NOT the Lord's way. Yes, have compassion on those truly in need or in dire straits. Sure, that's also the Lord's Way, but I think we all know that a big section of Obama voters and left-wing Democrats want "the poor" to get free health care as massive way to redistribute income. I posit that that philosophy is actually EVIL. It's wrong, and unfair. The entitlement mentality is going to ruin this country if it already isn't too late!
Pay Up | 3:43 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
or go to jail. The Drudge Report has a link to the language in the bill saying you will pay the $15K annual family premium or go to jail! That is liberty!
twisting  | 4:00 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
You don't have to twist Christ's words to sound "liberal". He said numerous times to give to the poor - even to give everything to the poor and follow him. When you're dead are you really going to care? Will the Canadians, English, Spanish, French, .... ect all of Europe saints be there in Heavin wishing they had lived in a country where 40,000 died a year because of lack of access to health care?

Sorry Tommy, your Mom is going to die even though there is a hospital accross the street that could have cured her cancer. Too bad for you - tell your Dad to work harder next time.

A government plan for a middle class medium size family making under $80,000 and who don't qualify for any assistance will cost $10,000/year. That's 833.00/mo. When that family can't afford that they will get penalized $10,000 come tax time, which of course they still won't be able to afford. That family will also have to shell out for Dr's appt's/emergency room when a life threatening situation arises. For now, before the government phases out private health insurance companies(if the bill passes) that family will have to pay $100/WEEK more in taxes (that they can't afford) if they have employer supplied health benefits. Why is the government bill attacking middle class families who are already struggling? Go after the health insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies in the obvious ways. Their big dollars go to advertising, lawyers, doctors insurance, CEO's, profit margins, settlements and judgements, lobbying and working to deny claims! The only good thing that will come out of this will be no ruling out pre-existing conditions.
