captain obvious

I cant beleive they can possible think that it is not directly linked to having been deployed. One more reason to get out of those countries and start worrying about our own country instead of trying to be the world police

Retired Army Officer

Sad commentary on the overall Morale of Army soldiers. Men and women who would normally be
attending training; improving their lives and lifestyles. Sorry to disagree with the prior comment.
Our USA has need to protect our Freedoms, within & without our USA!

G

Multiple gunmen in military uniforms--sounds like something that was attempted by Al-Qaeda a few years ago.

Re: Captain Obvious

I am currently deployed to Iraq right now. I really don't apprecaite your comment. It is better we are fighting them over here rather than in our homeland. You really aren't captain obvious or you would know this. Also, it isn't linked to getting deployed. PTSD will almost never cause something this tragic, these guys have planned it. Get a clue.

"General 11 killed, plus gunman; two others held." CNN

Air Force Combat Veteran

There's no need for finger pointing. You don't change strategies because of a few crazy idiots. Bless the families.

metamoracoug

I think some of you have jumped to conclusions. The article reports the gunmen were wearing fatigues. It does not confirm they are US military.

awh

I am so sorry for the families of these fine people who were killed or wounded. May they be comforted.

Cap'n Parrotdead

Anonymous, what a stupid thing to say. No wonder you are hiding behind anonymity.

Uh oh

MSNBC reporting the shooter was Muslim.

This is going to get ugly in a hurry.

Mom of 4

My son is stationed Shepherd AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas right now.
To the person who is deployed- God bless you and thank you for your service.
To the family and friends of those killed- we grieve with you.
God bless

Molli

What a tragedy. Just a few days before Veteran's Day.

No hiding here. Parrotdead is your given name. Thinking of monikers isn't my thing. I'm a veteran who enlisted during my generation's war. I never thought I would hear an American criticize a sitting president for honoring our military dead. Rush proved me wrong.

I don't pick those who I share my American citizenship with. Weekly, I'm surprised at who some Americans have sunk to.

Yes, I was being selfish by trying to be preemptive to embarrass anyone who might be here thinking of making a photo op comment. I'm sorry I must think this way in America today.

My thoughts, as a veteran, is and well always be with my brothers who server and who are serving. It's a military thing to honor our commander and chief because America elected him.

Paranoia

Would not want to be a Muslim at this time.

Passion is increasing and intelligence is dropping off the charts.

Soldier's Mom

I am grateful every day for the service of those brave military men and women who are willing to serve in harm's way. I am sorry that harm's way is getting closer to home for some. I visited my son at Fort Hood. It is enormous and operates very well. May God comfort the families of the fallen. God Bless America.

KF

The gunman was an Army psychiatrist who was being depoloyed to Iraq.

Foxnews

Fox named one of the shooters, "Maj. Malik Nadal" Hasan......all of our problems of national security seem to have a common thread....SAND!

Gosh, what a coincidence.

Isn't this shooting just more evidence that "racial profiling" should be employed, and now. Or are we too PC to see what is going on right in front of our faces?

re: Uh oh

I hope that by "getting ugly" you're not referring to getting to the truth behind the motivation for the killings. If, in fact, he was Muslim and was doing this for jihad, then maybe our commander in chief will acknowledge that we're actually in a war, with an enemy who is willing to use terrorist tactics on our own soil, as opposed to treating all this like a legal issue and running around after the fact trying to prosecute these cowards.

By the way, mtamoracoug - he was confirmed to be US military. I'm not a military guy but I'm going to venture a guess and say that just because you're dressed in camo, you can gain entry onto a military base without autorization and ID. It's not like going to the mall dressed up like a soldier and pretending to be in the military.

A Major with an M.D.

Still wondering if this was an Al-Qaeda op.

And there was more than one shooter. Obviously planned, deliberate action. People that "snap" usually do so one at a time.
