Re: Cottonwood | 12:18 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
not gonna happen. This will be a bigger blowout than the first game of the season. Gotta love starting your season and ending it with absolutely embarrassing blowouts to Alta.

Missing 4A I am sure.

Hopefully this game doesn't get chippy at the end if it's a blowout, and I hope the Alta kids are smart enough to walk away and stay eligible for the next game.
Of course Alta has to win the game and while it's likely they'll win I doubt it will be nearly as big of a blowout. Playoff football is different and unless you're playing a team that is either incredibly overmatched, or just doesn't care nearly as much, you won't see a blowout.
I think Cottonwood will be able to do some similar things as we saw Fremont do, but there are only so many trick plays that will work and pretty soon if you're not able to run the ball and pick up first downs you get in a big hole. Close through the mid-way point in the third and then I see Alto pulling away and winning by 20.

Look for the two time defeinding state champs to take care of business and ease to a sound victory. Alta 35 Cottonwood 14
I'm thinking | 1:43 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
it will be closer to Alta 35 Cottonwood 21. Alta's D is hurting without Hause flying around as a linebacker. Still, with all the other talent on the team Alta will win, but it will be close until the 4th quarter.
There is no ease! | 1:59 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Alta has struggled in the second round of the playoffs almost every year that Hamilton and his staff have been there! Maybe they get high on themselves or they are just looking forward to the turf. Anyone that says Alta is going to roll, is going to enjoy a nice like wake up party tomorrow and may be eating some crow tomorrow night!
My prediction | 2:11 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
CWOOD will keep it close because Alta will have stupid penalties and cheap stuff like they have all season.
Battle of | 2:26 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
two of the dirtiest teams in the state. Get your whistles ready, some peeps going to earn Personal Fouls in this game.
Utah Sports Action | 2:37 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Alta is a very tough team with a good offense and defense. Cottonwood is tough as well and if they take care of the ball and play good defense it will be a close game.
re: There is no ease? | 2:40 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
If you mean by struggled, that thye've WON almost every game in the second round since he's been there, they you're correct.
Last year they played Davis. Davis was a good team. Compound that with the fact Alta's qb was home with the flu most of the week, I'd have to say it wasn't much of a "struggle".
The team that wins | 3:13 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
this game will be the team that has less than 200 penalty yards. (If either of these teams can keep it under 200)
re: Hopefully Coach Hamilton | 3:29 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
IT WAS A BAD SNAP! Could the holder have recovered in time to still place the ball?
Maybe. But he's in highschool and he reacted. I can assure you the called play was NOT a fake field goal.
Re: Hopefully | 3:46 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
If you watched the game you would have seen the "fake" field goal was a bad snap that was perfectly played by the holder and run for a TD. Say what you want but Alta ran the ball the final 20 plays of the game.

we are glad your kids don't go to Alta too. Anyone who has played or coached knows that in the first couple of games you're practicing plays, personnel, formations, etc. and the only real game time experience you get is in a blowout game. CW can whine all they want about class, and keep your version for yourselves because for me and mine we'll keep Hamilton's version which consists of turning out excellent young men, a winning football program, and a sense of belonging and responsibility that only happens when you have a coach who loves and cares about the kids first. Coaches like Hamilton don't come along often and we're glad we have him.

Alta's already prepping for Bingham, they aren't taking this game seriously at all. I would feel pretty confident too though if Payne was telling us all of Alta's plays like he's doing to us
Coah Hamilton | 4:52 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
You won't have him for long as it's no secret that he's been interviewing for every high profile HS job from Texas to California.

Good Luck Alta! I think you may need it. If not this game for sure the next game. Hope your D can hold em. For sure going to miss Hausknecht on these next two games!
Alta Alum | 1:14 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Cottonwood? They're 5A huh? That is so cute . . .it is fulfilling that our little brother is finally "cool" enough to bring to the "big boy" party! I would be talking about Jordan and Brighton, our other 2 baby bro's but---well you know where they are!

3-peat on the way!

GO HAWKS!
Seriously... | 1:22 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Cottonwood gets rolled by 30+ points and want to get on here and talk about winning? You'll lucky to keep it competitive.
Re:Alta Alum | 1:14 p.m. Nov. 6, | 1:42 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Brighton may be gone from the playoffs, But they beat Alta easily this year. Until Next year Alta, Maybe you can beat Brighton and Bingham then. Because its not happening this year as CW is going to beat you senseless today

Dear Moderator.

How come you never put my well thought out comments up?
One more and done | 3:04 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Alta fan - you cannot be serious with all this smack. Braging about 2 straight titles? Never has there been more of a title giveaway than the charity Bingham gave you in the final 6 minutes last year. Seriously? You're bragging about that fluke?
I'm a CHS graduate but I'm actually pulling for your boys today. I want it to be a very close AHS win -- so your pathetic team can fall to Bingham by 30 next week, rather than mine.

So enjoy your last win of the season this afternoon. And please stop pretending your title last year was anything more than Bingham charity.
