I heard that the middle linebacker and tackle leader hurt his knee last week. Is he able to play tomorrow? If not, they will be in trouble against a very good ground game in Syracuse. Does anyone know?
SHS | 12:06 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Linebacker did hurt himself but he will play and they will stop Bingham's run game also.
Bingham | 12:24 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I've seen this team play on a few ocassions this year, as I have seen Syracuse as well. With what I saw I just don't see Syracuse making this a close game. They may hang with Bingham for a quarter, but this will be a blowout. 42-14 or 35-14, around those numbers. Bingham is just a better team and this will be apparent throughout the playoffs, regardless of who they face. They will probably win the state championship by large margins in every game.

Anything can happen on any Friday night, but not this Friday night. Bingham collects a solid win.
Bingham 34 Syracuse 21
Different year, same Syracuse | 1:48 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Lets remember what happened to Syracuse last year in the semi's, Alta 42 Syracuse 14. And with Bingham as good as they are, I expect a similar blowout. Sorry Syracuse, but the its the big boys that get to go to RES.
The soon to be | 2:28 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
future state champion will win this game. This one will probably go Bingam's way, but either team will finish at the top of the heap.
Utah Sports Action | 2:29 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Bingham is very tough I have seen them play a couple times this year. I have also seen Syracuse play and their defense doesn't get enough credit. I think it will be a good game if Syracuse can stop the run.
Re:Different Year, Same Syracuse | 3:29 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Syracuse's team is much different than last years. Their kicker is much improved over last year, and the entire defense is improved. The secondary is incredible. Last yearss secondary wasn't nearly as good, and they were playing the best quarterback in the state against Alta. And after the amount of turnovers Syracuse forced against Skyline, you have to give them some credit. I think Bingham will win, but it will be close. 28 - 21 or 28 - 24. I think Bingham will wind up winning it all, but Syracuse will put up a fight.

All I care about is that Syrcause covers the spread. Come one you Titans
RE: Differant year | 3:58 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Yes last year corner's were has good. But the D-line is not has good and the safety isnt has good either. Its the same Kicker DUH!
FALCON | 4:00 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I think Syracuse is just too small. Maybe if they get a couple of lucky breaks on special teams they can pull it off but I do hope they win.

"Re:Different Year, Same Syracuse | 3:29 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009"
Looking at the Syracuse's stats from last year and this, I'd have to say you're right about the defense being better. While individual players had similar stats, there were more with tackles, sacks and interceptions this year.
However, the kicker's numbers are almost identical from last year to this. He made ten field goals each year, one less PAT this year than last and has scored 55 points so far this year compared to 56 last. Since Syracuse's season isn't over he should at least tie both this week.
One of your points seems to have been proven valid while the other isn't quite as
clear-cut.
BT | 5:03 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Oops, must have hit "return" one time too many.
TITANS | 6:23 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Anything can happen on any Friday night, as long as Syracuse's D-line can stop the run there DBs should be able to stop the pass. I think it will be a very good game. the winner should go on to win state.
LETS GO TITANS!
Dave | 6:45 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
After watching Syracuse for a few years, their defense this year IS better, but the offense is not. Keeping up with Bingham is going to be the issue.

If Syracuse can keep them under 30 points, they'll have a chance, but I'm not sure they can score enough to keep up.

Syracuse pulled out a victory at PG last year in the 2nd round to go to RES, so they're no strangers to playing on a tough field. Should be a fun game.
Trap game???? | 7:23 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Does anyone give Syracuse a shot at beating Bingham? Will Bingham be looking ahead to a supposed matchup with Alta and not show up for this game with the Titans and lose? I've seen over confident teams lose before especially if they fall behind and they start making mistakes or taking chances. Bingham has an amazing team but I wonder if this is a trap game for them. From what I keep reading and hearing, no one is giving Syracuse a chance. They did beat Skyline, who before the game, had the 3rd highest scoring offensive team in 5A and the Titans held them to 7 points.
Dark Side | 8:31 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Syracuse barely beat Copper Hills. Seriously
Anonymous | 8:57 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I received information that Langi injuried his ankle early in the season.Does anyone have any up dates.
Re Dark Side | 8:59 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
so what, Syr lost to Layton....
hmm | 9:01 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
im pretty sure syracuse made it to RES last year..so that must mean that they're big boys..haha different year same syracuse you don't make any sense
Re: BT | 9:26 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Sorry, I didn't clarify, I went to Syracuse last year, and even though he has made the same amount this year as last, last year he missed a lot of field goals. He is more accurate this year than last. His amount made is the same. From what I have seen this year he has missed less.
Re: Dark Side | 9:28 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Every team has bad games and good games. Syracuse played well against Viewmont and Skyline, poorly against Copper Hills and Layton. Anything can happen.
Re: Re: Different Years | 9:29 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I didn't say they have a new kicker. I said their kicker is improved. Just like most high school players do.
re: Anonymous  | 9:48 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I heard that Bingham lost to Alta last year. Does anyone have any updates.
Comments | 10:04 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I just want to say that the Bingham and Syracuse fans have CLASS. After reading the other comments for the other games, I'm really amazed at the arrogance and classlessness.
re: re anonymous @ 9:48 | 10:21 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I have an update for you. Check the 2009 schedules.
Class | 10:35 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Bingham always has class. I would also expect a hard working community like Syracuse to be a good bunch of people. The game will be hard fought and enjoyable.
BT | 10:46 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
"Re: BT | 9:26 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009" - I see. It's not your fault that the stats I have available don't include how many field goals he attempted each year. Now I understand better.
Thank you for giving more information.
No interest in either team... | 11:02 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
But I have to say... who ever you are, don't you understand the concept of a high school football player (kicker) improving from one year to the next??? Get a clue, really!
re: Dave | 11:04 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Syracuse will have to hold Bingham in the low teens to win the game. Just under 30 won't be good enough.

Syracuse averages 23 points per game (that includes good and bad defenses). They average only 17 points if you take out the region 1 weakling Roy and Clearfield. They scored only three against Layton who gave up 30 points per game to everyone else. Their odds of scoring more than 14 are slim to none.

That means the defense needs to play extremely well against Bingham. Is it possible - yes; but again that's an uphill battle.

Syracuse to point to the Skyline game but Brown represented 40% of the rushing offense, 40% of the passing offense and 40% of the scoring. That was a huge loss in the first quarter. If Brown doesn't leave the game then you have to wonder whether Skyline would have turned the ball over so frequently in the second half. Anything can happen on Friday, that's why the game gets played but it will take an odd combination of events to turn the game in Syracuse's favor. It should be a good game to watch.
Overlook | 11:11 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Bingham wont overlook anyone. Syracuse will be given the attention and respect they deserve and Bingham will do the job. Good luck Miners, take the next step
Re: No interest | 11:51 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Yes I do. If you attempt less field goals you can't get a whole lot more. The fact that the kicker has made as many field goals as last year with less attempts makes his accuracy better. Seems like an improvement to me.
enough about the kicker | 12:07 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Please, no more kicker comments. Enough already.

doesn't really matter who wins this game, they will end up just losing to Alta who dominates the postseason every year
Anonymous | 6:59 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Bingham fan. You got to hand to to Syracuse coaches to be this successful this early as school. Congrat. to you guys . Should be great game whatever happen win or loose great season for school.

Every year huh? Championships in two of the last 20 years and you call that "every year"?
Short memory?
Alta Dominates | 9:31 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Alta has been very successful and have a great team/program, however they don't DOMINATE in State Playoffs. Several times, especially against Bingham, they squeeked out with a very close win.
Miners will win big | 9:35 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I laughed at the comment about this being a "trap" game for Bingham, sorry but that is not going to happen, If you have been around this team and coaches this year you would know that they are not going to somehow choke this game at home with the state championship in their sights. I have heard Syracuse is a good team that plays hard but it will take more than that to beat the #1 team in the state on their home field, Bingham has only scored under 28 points once, so I doubt Syacuse has a defense that can prevent Bingham from scoring less than that. Bingham rolls today. And please post this comment if you are going to post Alta fans comments on here. I happen to be a true Bingham fan posting on a Bingham story.
Re: Re: No interest  | 10:44 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I was agreeing with your point! It was the "same kicker, duh" comment I was referring to! I was making the point, that high school players do improve from year to year! I would encourage you to think about what you are reading instead of instantly jump into "defensive mode."
Close games | 11:14 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Alta Dominates | 9:31 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
You're right. Alta won last year and in '07 by just four points against Bingham in the playoffs. Last year there was less than a minute left when Alta scored the winning TD.
That's hardly "dominating".
Ha... | 11:45 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Syracuse loses their last region game to Layton... A team that didn't even make the playoffs....Bingham will blow them out.
re: Ha | 12:42 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
The Layton game meant NOTHING. Layton had everything to gain and nothing to lose. Their season was over. I admit that as a Titan, it was quite imbarassing that we didn't show up but look at how it affected the Skyline game. IT DIDN'T!
Anonymous | 12:48 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
All that i can say is, i really want bingham to win this game because I bet my left eyebrow that they would blow syracuse out. So miners, for the sake of my pride, please win.
re re HA | 1:15 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Okay, valid point but if you go by your analysis then Bingham should have lost to T-ville, but guess what? Well you know the answer, they throttled them just like everyone else. And you can insert Layton's team in there if you want, the result would have been the same. Even if the game means NOTHING, you should still play to win. Which is what Bingham does very well..... WINS.... even the games that mean NOTHING. You are also forgeting that the score was 7-3 in the first half until Brown got hurt, correct me if I am wrong on that I did not see the game, but that doesn't seem that impressive to me. I guarantee today, the score at the half will not be 7-3.
Yeah Ha...  | 1:26 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
I have to admit, I would say the Skyline game is much more telling than the Layton game. :) I do think Bingham has too much... depth, talent, tradition, intangibles. But... I think it could be a game and hope it is. :)
BINGHAM | 1:46 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
Go Miners!!! Let's show them what we're made of!!
Syracuse Defense | 7:31 p.m. Nov. 6, 2009
It's easy to have the stingiest defense when you don't play anybody that's good. I guess we now know who has the best and stingiest defense.
