Massive, across the board, TAX INCREASES.
Thinkin' Man | 9:07 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
The continued lack of bipartisanship by Congress and the President is intolerable, arrogant, and self-righteous. It means they do not care about 1/2 of the country. The Democrats are showing their true colors, and Democrat voters ought to be embarrassed.

This will all come back to bite them.

There can be no reduction in greenhouse gases or permanent solution in the US plan or the United Nations Climate Change Treaty in Copenhagen;. because the world is going the wrong way.

We cannot PROMOTE the employment lifestyle around the world; it creates the world problems: climate change, servitude-enslavement, pollution of air, land, water and food making people diseased, war, immigration, debt, poverty, financial crises, inequality etc. We can turn to a garden paradise lifestyle with trees, plants and pets that provide fresh food around us. The garden paradise lifestyle is the ONLY SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION to world problems; it is quick, easy, fair, beautiful and inexpensive.

All holy books of the world expect a garden paradise reward for following God's ways. People of religions around the world can agree. The way is prepared before us for a smooth transition. There is a financial plan written where people will not lose their money and it will never run out. All things are written in the word of God coordinated with prophets around the world. It is the best God has for us; if we do not want it now, we will not get it later.

The marxists have taken over the whole of our political system. Good luck with providing for your families going forward.

Thinkin' Man,

Flash back several years and replace the word "Democratic" with "Republican."

It's not the parties that worry me, it's the division and partisanship. The culture war and political extremism are feeding off of each other. I do not see a positive ending to this story.

MormonDem | 10:07 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Lack of bipartisanship in Washington is not the fault of the Democrats. The Republicans have made it clear that obstruction is their only tactic at this point -- Senator DeMint even openly said that their goal is to "crush Obama." The dems have bent over backwards trying to negotiate with Republicans but the GOP have proven themselves bad-faith negotiators. Any Republican who attempts to negotiate with the democrats is labeled a RINO by Rush and derided by the Joe the Plumber fringe (which, alas, is no longer the fringe).

Just look at what happened in NY-23. A moderate Republican capable of negotiating with Democrats was cannibalized by her own party in order to put a rightwing extremist in her place. Mainstream Americans don't want extremist rightwingers running the show. As a result, the GOP lost NY-23 to the Democrats Tuesday--a district controlled by Republicans since the Civil War.
GOP Plans - Stop Everything | 11:04 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
In the last year, what have Republicans offered or done to help America? Nothing that I can remember, but lots to stop, slow-down or block anything getting done.

The truth is they are thrilled to not be in power after the mess they left behind, now they want to convince America, it is Democrats fault. Hopefully (doubtfully) we will remember how we got into this mess and demand change.

Moderate Republicans have some good ideas, but try to find a Moderate Republican, they are becoming exstinct.
2000-2006 | 11:18 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
The same thing happened when the REPUBLICANS were in control of ALL THREE HOUSES OF GOVERNMENT.

An INCONVIENT TRUTH that REPUBLICANS forget.

What goes around comes around.

The same thing will happen when the SELF-RIGHTEOUS REPUBLICANS have their turn at being the BULLY.

Robert Watson | 11:18 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
What else to expect from liberal Democrats - and especially not so intelligent Barbara Boxer?

This global warming thing and how to fix it has become a controversial scientific quagmire. President Obama, the far left and the liberal democrats solution is to ram their agendas down our throats whether it be the will of the people or not, or at what cost to the tax payer.
We can expect another "czar" to be added to the mix.
Thinkin' Man | 11:46 a.m. Nov. 5, 2009
How soon they forget.

When in the majority, Republicans have always been bipartisan. George Bush was a prime example -- he was so bipartisan, he angered conservatives.

"Bipartisan" also means compromising and adjusting legislation to incorporate ideas from the other side. Obama and this Congress have not done that ONCE. They seem to forget that when they shun the Republicans, they shun half the country.

Losers don't get to make the rules in our democratic republic. Thank god, we are moving though republican obstructionism. Being nice hasn't worked.
xscribe | 12:05 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I agree with MormonDem: The Republicans basically said as much. I'm not necessarily saying the Democrats don't do the same thing, because they do, but if you think the Republicans are somehow out to look after your well-being as opposed to using political tactics to get elected or re-elected, then they've got you about as fooled as you can be! It's all a big game to them, and they use us as their pawns.
Did Matheson | 12:12 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
vote yes to this bill?
Re: Matheson | 1:45 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Matheson is not a Senator, so I would assume he didn't vote, or if he did it probably wasn't taken too seriously.
Naivete | 2:33 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Does anyone on this blog realize the stupidity of this action by the Senate? The underlying premise is false. There is no such thing as climate change. It's a falsehood wrought by environmentalists like Gore, who stand to profit enourmously by this "tommy-rot". Even if there were climate change, who thinks ouny man can do anything about it. Look forward to higher gasloine prices (which is already in the works); higher gas costs to heat your home; and Gore's wallet to get bigger. It is naivete to think this legislation is not harmful to your pocket books, your future.
Write your senators to vote against it.

Why aren't you reporting on the shoting at Ft. Hood: Seven dead?
KM | 3:11 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I hope it is the GOP plan to stop or impede everything this marxist adiminstration is putting out there. The 'used car salesman' president is ramming govt. largess down the throats of all Americans with the intention of breaking our system.
remmeber cloward and pivin? We are all here to see the dawning of a new day, the fundament transformation of America into a socialist utopia, complete with all the restrictive, freedom taking govt. interference that comes with it!
Anonymous | 3:37 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
KM, you forget Bush created the largest growth in presidential power in our history. He was a wealthy white kid.

I pray someday you will have faith in your country. America survived the Great Depression and we stayed ardent capitalist.

Don't let Fox scare you. What have they ever been right about.
Re: Re: Matheson | 3:49 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Congressman Matheson voted against the House version of the bill when it barely passed by two votes earlier this year.

Those darn Republicans, always obstructing progress...oh, wait, Matheson's a Democrat. Never mind.

The GOP only advances bills that will net the companies that pay them the most. There's no money in promoting responsible behavior among those who's only goal is to gain more money. GOP Promotes and subsidizes oil, coal and nuclear power, while doing nothing to help further the advance of renewable or even free energy. With the GOP in charge, civilization would have to wait until old ideas and the old men espousing them die before any change would take place. Besides trying to convince the public that science is witchcraft, and the oil companies have the people's best interest in mind. What is it that the GOP has done to preserve the natural resources of this country for future generations? Sell oil permits as close as they can to National Parks, try and overturn preserves, endangered species acts and essentially sell our children inheritance to the highest bidder. Thanks GOP
for looking out for the big guys.

@Naivete: "Does anyone on this blog realize the stupidity of this action by the Senate? The underlying premise is false. 'There is no such thing as climate change. It's a falsehood.'"

Your quote, as if you were an expert in the field, but then we get this quote, again from you, "Even if there were climate change, who thinks ouny (sic) man can do anything about it."

Way to contradict yourself. Now we'll all believe that what "you" say is true. Also, what are the higher gas prices that are "in the works"? Are you saying that because gas has risen a bit in the last few months, that it's because of this climate bill? Do you forget that gas was $4 per gallon when Bush, who was oil friendly, was president? Give me a break! You're right about one thing, however: Gas will rise again, but not because of the climate bill, but because when our economy starts to improve, people will resume their glutenous gas-guzzling ways, and prices will rise again.

MormonDem, I liked the political cartoon of queen nancy this morning. It was captioned, "Pelosi reaches out to republicans" and showed queen nancy reaching across to lock her door.

Nature will Not Pay Attention to this Bill, and neither will I.

I do not want to leave a Carbon Footprint I want to leave a Carbon Boot Print. Great Big Oveersized Boots.
@Happy valley heretic | 5:14 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
You are misguided and ignorant if you the the RNC is any different than the DNC. They both are drinking deeply from the troph of special interests and big business. They both are corrupt to the core. Don't fall for the MSM and the DNC telling you GWB is any different than Bama.

Thinkin man

It was the REPUBLICANS who didn't show up. They weren't forbidden to attend they chose not to.

Do they need a special invite with hearts and flowers?

I'm proud of the Democrats for doing the job they were elected to do. The repubs just pout and stomp off when they don't get their way.

Now if they'd only hold their breath til they turn blue.
well | 5:22 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
sometimes "no" is the right answer
and Republican being the "party of no" is to their credit
Happy Valley Heretic | 5:47 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
I don't see a big difference, I've always called the 2 parties different sides of the same coin. That said People can be different and GW and Obama are opposites in many ways. Fortunately we change presidents every 4 years, but the rest of the old men in washington whispering and backhanding have been bought long ago and are in high places, lest someone begin to think on their own.

Anyone who can look at the time laps photos of glaciers retreating into dirt and rock and still say there is no climate change, then there's nothing anyone can do to change your mind, excepting a radio show comedian telling you otherwise.

KM | 7:05 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
@anon,
The only reason I said I hope the GOP stops the Dems in their plans to have the govt. take over even more of our economy, is because they are the only ones who will try. To me the Dems and the Pubs are the same party with different names. I hope both parties fail when they try to expand the influence of the federal govt.
Fox news is right about calling both parties the same thing; socialists.
Taxman | 9:04 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
So much for the charismatic Obama's pledge that middle class "taxes" will not go up even one dime. Never did a candidate say whatever he needed to say to get elected like our current president. What did that one "rude" representative shout out during the state of the union? . . . hmmmmmmm?
Hot Air | 10:20 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
It's like the Democratic Party is standing in a field somewhere in South America getting ready to drink the kool-aide. If this bill actually goes anywhere, it will cripple the nation. I don't care what happens to the two major political parties in this country. I DO care what happens to our nation. Will the real leaders please stand up?
@hvh | 11:10 p.m. Nov. 5, 2009
Well, if the glacers are melting... what do you propose to do about it? snuff out the sun? Why do so many people suffer from 'God complex?' Do you really think that you can change the climate?
The audacity of arrogance!
Anonymous | 8:42 a.m. Nov. 6, 2009
No God Complex here. Nor do I believe I have the "God given right" to use up the worlds resources, mineral, plant or animal. Man can make "Acid Rain" but that technically that doesn't effect the climate, just a part of it. We block out 30% more sunlight then 20 yrs ago just because of contrails from jets continually crossing the skys (see clear skies above america in the days following 911 no fly orders). Fluorocarbons didn't contribute to a hole in the ozone either. That's the problem when you've been led to believe in a couple of people with radio time, instead of the large community of scientist who are professionally trained, like a doctors, lawyers, accountants ect... but that's your choice to live by faith instead of facts.

Well, this is going to be fun.
